Rig: GT Omega Prime on casters; got the integrated monitor mount, mouse deck, and a TREQ keyboard tray to fit when I move it into the new gaff
Seat: BB Classics racing bucket (cheap and cheerful - the old GT Omega will ideally be turned into an office chair)
Base: Moza R16
Wheels: Moza GS V2, Moza RS V2, Moza KS, MVH Studios GTS, Thrustmaster T500 bare rim because 70s F1 innit, I also have a Turn R305 floating around
Pedals: Heusinkveld Sprints 🤤
Grabby sticks: SHH shifter, Moza handbrake
Other: SimRacing4U button box, Rii wireless keyboard+trackpad, dust
PC: Intel i7-11700KF, RTX 3060 Ti, 32GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
Monitor: MSI AG32CV, came highly recommended by some nice bloke
Etc: Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro TKL keyboard, Razer Blackshark V2 Pro '23 headset, Razer Orochi mouse (battery eating little bastard)
I'm thinking of streamlining and swapping the Moza stuff (bar the handbrake) and the rims for Simagic, and that Grid display of yours thoroughly tickles my pickle while we're at it. With those I think I'd be done with it, but you and I both know that will not be the case.
Maybe a "reacting to viewers' setups" video would be a cool idea 👀
What a mighty fine setup that is, for a mighty fine editor.
@@Jaaames Oh stopp 🥰
You have a great setup James. Thanks for the inside tour of your sim room.
Welcome🤝
Production quality's definitely stepped up from what I remember. Shout out to the cameraman and editor, and of course that's an absolute dream rig
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed🙂
One thing worth considering to add to your setup is some kind of haptic feedback on your pedals, especially brake with ABS or wheels lockup. Simagic offers dedicated solution but you can also use small bass shakers. I'm using bass shakers on each pedal and it helped me a lot to understand the car and my driving style
Crazy that you still have an OG Rift. I just upgraded my OG Rift to a Quest 3 and HOLY CRAP was the jump in quality enormous.
Absolutely recommend the quest 3 over the OG rift in a heartbeat
Would love to see a video where you break down what your practice schedule looks like for a specific race. For instance, your Daytona 24hr practice schedule, or for a similar race
Interesting, I'll have a think, thanks for the idea
I just upgraded my 49" Odyssey G9 to the new 57" G9, and that extra panel real estate makes a huge difference, I've always found the vertical height of the 49" version to be it's only weakness, the 57" version solves this 100%, plus the extra width completely fills your entire periphery, expensive AF but so worth it
@scott501 Can a RTX 2070 Super run that 57” ? I now use triples 5760x1080 and ACC is a no go for me. IRacing is pretty high FPS with some low-mid-high settings so I guess not enough power for 57” …?
I have next level ES1 in formula position, removed pad half way, added lumbar support and put it back on. Perfection :) Without it pure pain with load cell brake.
Niceeee🔥
Enjoy all the funny bits a lot. Video seems to have too much sharpening for me. Very strange to watch really. Cheers!
This was my first go at colour grading, lots learned! Next time will be better -Editor
@EthanDean57 I am sure it will. Learning by doing! Editing is great btw.
@@EthanDean57tbf I actually love the color grading… except maybe just try to desaturate the area around the current main focus so that the background doesn’t stand out as much the whole time if you can. I get it’s hard to do without aperture changing, but that’s the main idea I can think of… sorry I used to edit for a guy named kireth for a bit and was playin around with that stuff a lot too so I love helping… plus I’m boutta get back into editing with a new pc I’m building😆😊
@@NiederDrifts No need to apologise, I appreciate it. I had to crash-course this so will keep that in mind for when I can get more advanced with the tools! 💙
@@EthanDean57You’re jarnos editor aren’t you
Something I found that really helped me was adding trackir from my flight sim rig, it allowed me to look around with the more narrow FOV of a single monitor while having much less of a hit to my FPS compared to triples
You're absolutely spot on about sim racers never being completrly happy with what theyve got! Ive got a Moza R9 and Asetek Forte pedals that im lucky if i use it more than once a week and im still thinking about small upgrades and adjustments here and there 😂
Think it's a human trait, we're always looking for the next thing that's bigger & better😅
My most recent addition that I just love is the Precision Sim Engineering Pro Switch Panel. I think it would compliment your setup nicely James.
Hmmmm, I'll have a look👀
kudos to the editor. The honks and squeaks for the shifter/e-brake made me lol
Same🤣
"spare simcube there just in case" LOL
😂
So in your opinion triples are not that important?
I appreciate the overgrip on the wheel, I like the feel of it in my hands more than the standard rubber/pe grips that come standard on most formula/gt wheels. Also nice to be able to dial in thickness.
I have a similar setup, just with SC2 Pro, 3 Buttkickers plus four Dayton shakers build into my GS-5 with G-Belt. A Frex H-shifter I still recommend because it feels much better than your Fanatec as well as my HE handbrake V1, which I even use rarely in WRC. The Ultimate+ I've modded with a strong pressure spring, so two springs and one elastomer. I think it performs better because the pedal is more glued to my foot and less mushy feel and I can feel the Buttkickers a bit better. You don't want Simucube active pedals? Without Buttkickers they would probably would add some feedback you just get through the base only. I feel like blind without my tactile feedback and that's the main reason I don't even have Rennsport installed.
PS: My rig actually feels finished. Thought about switching the G9 with an OLED 49" (Philips seems better than Samsung), but they only come with R1800 and the more aggressive curve was the main reason I've bought the G9.
Nice rig, for esports I don't think motion is the way to go, although it's more immersive, I definitely find it harder to be as fast when motion is involved. Simucube active pedals are cool, just so bloody expensive🤣
@@Jaaames Me too, but the GS-5 with G-Belt I wouldn't put in the category 'motion' and would call it haptic feedback. It has no negative influence on lap-times as far as I can tell, rather positive, for me at least. Feels more like driving a road-car on a country-road than a real racecar, but with 6 DOF instead of the 3 DOF, you would usually get for that price.
For better grip-feel the Buttkickers are more helpful depending on the game. For example I love EA WRC despite the FFB is very dampened, because a lot of additional road-details I get through the rest. It feels like a huge benefit and similar with Forza. In other titles like iRacing it just seems more immersive, but can't feel the car any better and similar with ACC.
Very similar setup to mine, running a 4090 with odyssey 49” cube controls fpro & few other GT wheels, got the Porsche DDU10 from grid, simucube 2 pro. Pedals are pretty unique - simtrec pro GT. Class!!
Honestly it’s taken a few years and a few buying mistakes (fanatec I’m looking at you) but I’m so happy with my gear and it’s great to see a pro using a similar setup.
Hey James, how about doing a video that shows us your routine leading up to a big race? Like what you do in the days, or week, or weeks leading up to an important race - your practice schedule, what things you work on, your sleep schedule, your pre-race meal, etc. Or do you just “wing it”?
im digging my fanatec shifter installed the adjustable tension hand knob with m10x40mm 1.5 thread and a 3d printed knob
Thanks James for this video 👍🏼. I’ve got the same monitor and seating position as you have. Would you please share your ACC ingame monitor settings please (FOV, distance, tilt etc.) that would be very much appreciated 💪🏼. Cheers, Alexander
Yess, like to know also
Drop by one of my Twitch streams sometime & I'll show ya, or message me on socials & I'll get back to you.
Great setup James. I have GT Omega Prime, monitor stand with G9. Sparco R333 seat, Sprint pedals. SC2 Pro and Ascher rim. PC has 7800X3D and 4080. The biggest upgrade I need is to my own Pace 🤔🤣🇬🇧
I’m looking at moving from console to PC with same gpu and cpu you have. What monitor do you use and what kind of fps are you getting with those specs? Any regrets?
Nice setup mate👊
As a VR user it’s extremely interesting that u mainly use it for practicing for IRL. Just curious too, have you ever tried to fight for a vr only competition? Ik most people don’t in Esports cause of wearing it for long practice stints (and in Gran Turismo I get screwed by missing information like gaps and when people are putting) but I feel like it would be extremely fun to watch an all VR Esports series
Oh yah if u see this too, personally I’m just on a Logitech Pro (best part of my setup) with a basic GTR simulator rig that I won, and I have a tv for stuff like acc and f1 when I’m having fun, but pretty much my main source of fun atm is running PSVR2 on GT7. I’m also competing in a league with an R8G driver (kylian) and a bunch of other world tour guys trying to push VR use and show it can still be just as rapid as it is fun and immersive
The 1st Pc is the mvp of the video ngl🤣 cool rig James!
Agreed, what a hero
James, thanks for the tour of your sim rig. I am deciding between a triple 32" setup or a 49" or 57" ultrawide. For someone starting out, would the single 49" or 57" be sufficient for learning? I sure like the idea of a single monitor. Thanks!
I think starting out, go for the single monitor. Down the line you can always give triples a go, but they are overall more expensive & trickier to setup. Personal preference of course.
One thing needed:
Foot cam
Great vid tho love all the small funny bits
🤝
I run the same monitor as you on my sim racing rig and I agree with FPS, my main wheel currently has been the BMW formula wheel from fanatec and lately been using the Heuksinveld ultimate pedals which I love
Nice man, yeah the Heusinkveld Ultimate's are unreal🔥
@@Jaaames pedals (brakes to be precise) are the most important part of a rig to be not only quick but consistent special in longer stints, I’ve tried a fair share over the years and currently couldn’t be happier with how consistent these are.
@shhh41 Could you tell me wich monitor this is you have? Cause if I click the link from James than i just get the website but not the exact screen. Thx in advance. I've been looking at Oddyseys G9 but there are so many different types.
@@blackveilcommand yes sure, I’ve had the odyssey G9 Oled 49’ and then upgraded to odyssey G9 Neo 57’
Both are awesome for sim racing (I used triples before) but prefer a single wide screen .
Between both odysseys look at specifications and go for the one that suits you taste/price/specifications wise. Enjoy
@@Gwayneeee thanks you legend!
Really great video! Sick f’n setup James. I bet it’s so satisfying running laps in that beast!
Thanks! Me 6 years ago could have only dreamed of this setup, very grateful for it🙏
Good you give us exact measurements of your monitor higth and how far back it is?
Wow! Really went away from trips to an ultrawide. I’ve been toying with this idea but hesitant to pull the trigger.
Yep, didn't think I'd like it but I was impressed with how good the ultrawide was.
@@Jaaames how long did it take you to adjust your driving? Do you use any aides for spotter since you can’t see you passenger side mirror?
James looks great James, I'm onboard with you regarding ultra wide. Way less taxing and just looks so much cleaner
Keep up the great content

I'm not the only one that wraps my wheel grips with tennis racket tape :)
Is it ok to use racket tape? I asked what wrap he was using.
@@titovs2100 Yes, use an Overgrip not replacement tape though., I use Head Prestige Pro
@@ajmcdaddy4215 Thanks. I will check it out.
Nice vid James. Was at Suzuka (as a visitor this week) yes amazing track. Keep racing 👍🇦🇺
Ahhhh man, I'm jealous!
@@Jaaames no way mate, you’re living out my dream. All the best love your vids
Which screen would u get if you could change? G9 57 ? Do u miss thr triple in race?
That's Quite the sim room but you spend a lot of time racing in there. I wish you and your team all the best this year 👍
Thank you🤝
Why not active pedal from simcube
Hi. Very natural, no bla, bla. Go go go! More live streams expecting!
Thanks! More livestreams next week onwards🙂
Awesome setup for an Awesome driver! Well deserved.
My guyyyy❤
That's a really nice setup! How are you coping with the missing view of the right-side mirror and that area that was visible when you had your triples? Do you rely more on the radar-thing?
That's the only thing I miss with triples, is that immersion of looking out of the side window. It does make wheel to wheel racing slightly trickier, so yes I do rely on the radar a bit more. Overall tho the FPS gain outweighs the FOV loss.
Love it. Would be never out of the Sim Room.
Lol I try my best to go outside & be a human
This may be an odd question, but what have you wrapped your cube controls grips with? I’m trying to do the same but can’t find a material that I like. Thanks!
Tennis racket grip
amzn.eu/d/0BAg9Cn
What's the reason for you choosing ultrawide over triples apart from fps? Does the reduced fov not hinder side by side racing etc?
Easier for streaming, more FPS, easier to setup, overall the pros outweigh the cons. I do miss the FOV when racing wheel to wheel, triples are awesome in that sense.
@Jaaames thanks for getting back to me. Fair points like. I use a dual pc setup for streaming and I'm looking to go triples this year that's all.
Interesting that you're using the Sparco Hyperdrive racing boot/socks and not your real life racing boots when you are sim-racing. Does that mean that they are thinner soled than real racing boots and therefore better feel on the sim-pedals?
Pretty much, they're effectively just a lightweight version of a racing boot; gives you a nice feel on a proper pedalset like Heusinkvelds.
@@Jaaames thanks. I've been on the fence about getting a pair of hyperdrives. Worried about getting them on/off as I've read about a few people having issues just getting into them. I don't have huge feet (size 9 UK, 43 EU), but I do have fairly wide feet. Currently using a cheap pair of karting boots with my Simagic P1000s, but they are slightly too thick to get that full feel you need on the brake pedal.
I have 3x32 inch monitors and its hectic my poor pc just gets crushed not to mention the heat is intense, looking at single 49 UW
I have a custom rig I picked the parts for. I have the extrusion parts from Aluxprofile. 40120 for the main bottom frame, with 2x 600mm 4080 parts going across that hold the 40120 side parts together. Same thing between those 2, that hold the seat. The arms for the wheelbase are 4080 sized. I use the Simlab front mount for my SC2 Pro with a Cube CSX3 on it. Those arms also hold the PC. For the pedal tray I still had the opportunity to get the Simlab P1X upgrade kit that had the pedal tray and adjustable feet included. On that I have the VRS pedals. I also run triples, 32” 1440p monitors on a separate stand that again I chose the separate aluminium parts to.
My PC specs: Ryzen 9 7900X3D with a 360mm AIO, 32GB 6000MHz CL30 DDR5 ram, RTX 3070. In iRacing at 7680x1440 I get constant 144fps nearly at all times with sort of medium settings. I just cap the frames at 140 so I can get consistent frames without unnecessary spikes.
Sounds like a sweet rig mate👊
Weren't you on a SC2 Pro at one point? Did you notice a difference moving to the Ultimate? Also, how come you didn't keep the Asetek pedals?
There was a slight increase in detail moving to the Simucube Ultimate, but nothing crazy. It's a big jump in price as well. Heusinkveld have always had my favourite pedals, the Asetek's were only a temporary addition to the rig.
@@Jaaames thanks for letting me know!
@@Jaaames sorry to dredge up this thread again but can I ask, what is that slight difference in detail you speak of. Like, how does that translate in terms of feel respectively between the wheel bases? Many thanks!
i’m starting sim racing soon on acc just waiting on my setup which might take some time due to circumstances but i will see you on the grid,i promise. mark my words, remember this name KongBruh. not a hater but a massive fan! keep up the good work❤
Is simucube ultimate the best wheelbase? What’s the difference between ultimate and sport and other high end wheel base?
We all know that the Suzuka Poster single handedly boost your lap time by at least -0.8 seconds
And the rest
be gentle on that clarity filter
Really enjoyed the video. Also, quite humbling for us reckless upgraders to hear that you, an absolute beast preaching the words of abstinence, we need to hear them, really. Jokes aside, wanted to ask about the VR aspect, I only race in VR, so was interesting to find out that you only use them for testing for IRL? CV1 isn't really the newest tech, but since you have no need for better, I guess it is okay? Would you think a quest 3 or something bit better&much pricier would maybe change your mind? Obviously you said many times that vr and fps and strain is a huge factor, but I would assume some1 with IRL racing experience would gasp onto anything to recreate that feeling? Like VR, maybe bass shakers or a 4DOF (but they are pricy)?
I have a TMX with rope and clips on my seat. Hoping to start posting videos so I can invest in a better setup.
💪
Interesting to know what the triples were that you replaces with the ultra wide. Never mind I found the video from 2 years ago.
Pro rig , very nice & you do look comfy 🤘🏼🏁
Cheers, yep it's pretty damn comfy😀
Nice setup. Although I've got a full rig with a triple monitor, mine isn't nearly as elaborate. Speaking of FOV, I was probably heading in that direction until I put a PSVR2 on. I haven't booted the PC since.
Does anyone know where to buy that Lit Suzuka track?
How do you go from triple 1080s to duel 1440 and gain FPS? Wouldn’t the extra pixels of the 5120x1440 g9 be worse for FPS? Is it because less FOV?
Sim racing has to be one of the biggest money pits, he said it so accurately. I'm always happy with my new upgrade, which causes me to be unsatisfied with something else. Never ending cycle.
I missed the fov settings.
you got a desk with 2 monitors and both are off center?
This setup is SICK!😍😍
🤝
Hi, Thanks for sharing. Question: What kind of wrap do you have on the wheel?
Its the grip tape used on tennis rackets. Have it on mine as well. gamechanger for those who drive without gloves
amzn.eu/d/0BAg9Cn
I use bicycle bar tape on mine, love it
That flag! Turn it round! 😮 🇬🇧
I noticed that straight away. James, you have your flag back to front. The part that's showing should be facing the wall. In this orientation it's technically a distress signal. Once you flip it you might find a few tenths better lap times 😊😊

The new season of the PESC Allstars starts tonight but you're not in it. Is that a contractual thing because they use the Porsche?
Didn't get an invite mate!
@@Jaaames Let's get a campaign on the go. Jimmer and Jardier are in the list of competitors but neither appeared for the first races at Daytona. There are a few top quality racers. You'd fit right in.
why nit changing PC instead of screens?
Hi James , Nice Setup you have indeed ! Questions do you ever drive in VR ? , If so what are your feelings about it ? Which headsets have you tried ?
I only drive in VR to train for upcoming real life races / tests. I have one of the first editions of the Oculus Rift headset, bought it like 6 years ago, does the job! I should probably upgrade & get a better headset tho.
i would love an actual sim rig when i get my own house but im stuck with a desk as so its kinda annoying
You should try using your second pc as a streaming pc for less stress on the main pc, more frames and less input delay.
I have the same monitor as you have. I recommend the grass monkey Puck. A perfect combo
What Duct Tape you used for the Wheel and how much HP does it gain? 🤣
Did you mention your pedals?
Is it one PC shared on the simrig and other desk?
One PC for the sim rig, one PC for the desk.
10/10 only missing hydraulics
One day...
I Just bought simgagic alpha with fx Pro wheel, Girro sim pedals (polish brand) and simlab px1 cockpit, i hope it will be enjoyable thing for me 😊
Whats your steering wheel angle? Great video btw! That UW G9 seems perfect for a single screen sim racing setup.
Have you ever tried vx pros or vrs pedals? I need to change mine. I have v3s but am going to sell them..
Haven't tried vx pros. Have used the VRS pedals before, they are okay, prefer Heusinkvelds for sure tho.
I've got the same G9 monitor, you've shown ACC fov. Do you have the same fov in iracing or are you using built in calculator to set it up?
I don't use an FOV calculator for any sim. To be honest the FOV used on ACC in this video is how I like it, so I try mimic that whatever sim / car I'm driving.
Do you not fancy a blast in the British Touring Car Championship?

Nlr wheel stand atm, but planing to upgrade to playseat sensation now that i have space for it
How did you set up your FOV and settings with G9 and ACC pls?
Simple and inspiring. Thanks for sharing.
how do you get a normal looking stream when streaming on an ultrawide?
I just set the canvas resolution to 1080p in SLOBS, the sides of the monitor don't make it into the stream, it only captures the middle bit
@@Jaaames cheers thanks
I see you're using a 49" monitor like me and you only appear to be able to see your left mirror. I struggle with spatial awareness of other cars so I use trackIR. I wondered if triples would help me. How do you see the right side for cars near you? Do you use a radar app?
Do you have the three soft rubbers for your brake or do you have 2 soft rubbers and some of the blocks?
Hi james, may i kno what is the cpu cooler, pc case, and the psu u used?
High Fps for sim racing?
You're living proof that a person doesn't need triples to perform at a high level.
What on earth is that wrap around the wheel rim??
amzn.eu/d/0BAg9Cn
@@Jaaames it was really a question of why.....it looks a mess.
Just getting into triples after using VR for some time. I have 3x27" monitors and just waiting for the stand to arrive. I was wondering if my wheelbase will restrict the height i need for the screens. They may be too high based on where the wheel feels comfortable. Anyone have any thoughts on this 🤔
Thanks man it’s real good but where can I get stand
Great video James! Keep it up
🤝
Why do you only use VR for training and not as the default for sim racing?
Nice 👍 setup mate …, do you have an extension shaft on the simucube?
Very interesting video, thank you!
🤝
how high are your pedals / heelplate relative to your seat?
Just below it, almost the same height tbh, so my legs are fairly straight & not too low.
