    2001 visit to Netherlands concerning biostimulants. Wherein US farmers were still using methyl bromide... cut to 2012 and Miracle Gro are issued a $12m fine for still using Storcide II and Actellic 5E (both containing chlorpyrifos-methyl respectively). How times change for the better !!
    6:14
    "Intellectual Curiosity" - thank you Harley! Your curiosity is invaluable!
    7:20
    Aminos (and Enzymes?) improves calcium and pectate acid uptake by producing calcium pectate.
    Is this the process that makes apples "crunchy" (?)
    Also, if I heard correctly, the connection to crusty leaves causing PM (and thus budrot), is because the mold spore sends a germination tube into the leaf - would that have anything to do with dead stomata unable to transpire (?)
    8:42 ~ Answered my 7:20 enquiry 😅
    10:42
    Lefty's, Nows Your Time 😅
    12:21
    Kelp ~ Harley, besides the auxins, gibberellins, cytokinins and phytohormones,... Can I ask if (some dried) kelp, hold high heavy metal content ?
    15:50
    Awesome info. 1nce per week - if required. Just find your dilution rates, and spray before lights on, or after lights off.

    Shoutout to Virginia Tech for their hard work. Thank you team. Awesome info!!
    18:25
    Humic and Fulvic overload ~ They both help buffer pH 😮 Compost composites (humic/fulvic) assist clay and pH ! 😮 Man, this is deep.
    19:17
    H+ ATPase ~ okay Harley this is where I start digesting info. Wow, a proton pump !! 😵🤯
    21:40
    Virginia Tech doing invaluable studies... Superoxide Dismutase 😮 Wow, a reactive byproduct species ~ which adversely acts as a proactive approach to stress (as a biostimulant) 😮
    25:33
    Vitamins (B!) ~ Cellular Metabolism ~ microbes activate enzymes. Exudates help make biostimulants etc... 😮 Siderophores from microbes almost acting like Chelators, acquiring and assimilating iron 😮
    B Vitamins also helps Systemic Induced Response ~ wherein, if sick or soon to be ~ the plant doesn't focus everything on fixing itself. It's sensitised 😮 Whoa!!!
    29:24
    Yucca. Excellent saponin and biostimulant source. Very good wetting agent to assist hydrophobic soils, and hydrophobia in general.
    31:32
    Shoutout to the Belgium growers. Bloom stimulants are now big bux.
    33:20
    Zinc-finger Transcription Factor. Wow the knowledge bombs are heavy.
    People, don't be confused with Cysteine and Cystine ~ wherein one increases glucosinolates, and the other is reasonably toxic (?)

      @melihatemurati6725 - Thank you for your comment and enthusiasm for the video! 🌿 It’s fantastic to hear about your work in liquid fertilizers and your interest in incorporating humic acids, amino acids, and seaweed into your formulations.
      To address your question: Ascophyllum nodosum is indeed a type of kelp, and it’s a highly effective biostimulant, widely used in Europe for good reason. Like other kelp species, A. nodosum is rich in bioactive compounds such as cytokinins, auxins, and betaines, which are excellent for promoting root development, enhancing stress tolerance, and boosting nutrient uptake in the vegetative stage. Incorporating it into your start/vegetative fertilizers should provide similar benefits as other kelp-based products.
      While Harley has moved on to pursue new opportunities in his career, we’re excited to carry forward the knowledge he’s shared with us through this series and continue providing educational resources for growers like you. Keep up the great work, and best of luck with your formulations! 🌟✨

    Fantastic class Mr Harley Smith how often and how much can we use these products and can we mix them together like how much to put in a 10 L of water

    • @KALIX-NPK
      @KALIX-NPK  Місяць тому +1

      @tyronelayman235 - Thank you for the great feedback! 🌱 Organic biostimulants are incredibly versatile, but their usage depends on the specific product and your plants' needs.
      Here are some general tips:
      1️⃣ How Often: Biostimulants like humic acids, fulvic acids, kelp extracts, and amino acids can typically be applied every 1-2 weeks, but always check the product label for recommendations.
      2️⃣ How Much: Dosages vary, but a common guideline is 5-10 mL of liquid biostimulant per 10 L of water. For powdered forms, use around 1-2 grams per 10 L. Again, product labels or manufacturer instructions are key here!
      3️⃣ Mixing: Most biostimulants are compatible and work synergistically. For example, humic acids enhance the uptake of nutrients when paired with kelp extracts. Just ensure your mix maintains the correct pH (around 6.0-6.5 for most plants). If you're uncertain, do a small test batch to check for compatibility.
      Your plants will love the extra boost-happy growing! 🌿✨

    17:44 quantiy of humic acid per acer for acidic soil with ph5.5 to buffer the root zone?

    • @KALIX-NPK
      @KALIX-NPK  Місяць тому

      @prasadborker8506 - Another great question! 🌿 For acidic soils with a pH of 5.5, humic acid can be a fantastic tool to buffer the root zone and improve nutrient availability.
      The recommended application rate of humic acid depends on the specific product you’re using, but a general guideline for granular or powdered humic acid is 10-20 pounds per acre, incorporated into the soil. If you're using a liquid formulation, it’s typically 1-2 gallons per acre, diluted according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
      To optimize its effectiveness: 1️⃣ Apply humic acid early in the growing season to improve soil structure and nutrient uptake. 2️⃣ Combine with organic matter or compost to further enhance the buffering capacity. 3️⃣ Test your soil regularly to track pH improvements and adjust applications as needed.
      Humic acid works by chelating nutrients, making them more available to plants, and promoting a healthier root zone-especially critical in acidic soils like yours. Let us know how it works for you! 🌱✨

    25:09 how eaerly should we add bio stimulants be added foreseeing hard times for plants?

    • @KALIX-NPK
      @KALIX-NPK  Місяць тому

      @prasadborker8506 - Great question! 🌱 The best time to start using biostimulants is early in the plant's growth cycle, even before signs of stress appear. Think of biostimulants as a proactive tool to build resilience and strengthen your plants' natural defenses.
      For example:
      During seedling or transplanting stages, biostimulants like amino acids and kelp extracts can reduce transplant shock and stimulate root development.
      If you anticipate environmental stress (e.g., heat, drought, or nutrient deficiencies), start applying humic and fulvic acids or kelp extracts a week or two in advance. This gives plants the boost they need to adapt more effectively.
      By incorporating biostimulants early and consistently, you'll set your plants up for success, helping them thrive even during tough times. 🌿 Hope this helps!

    I've been using your kelp, fulvic, amino, silica and cal mag with incredible results as well as using half the amount of fertilizer. But I have been noticing that my ph in my reservoir is rising by a full point each day. How can I control this without over doing the ph down? Thanks again for all of this great information Dr. Smith

    • @KALIX-NPK
      @KALIX-NPK  Місяць тому

      @Jay_Michael - Thanks for sharing your experience! 🌱 It's amazing to hear you're seeing incredible results with your kelp, fulvic, amino, silica, and Cal-Mag combo, especially while cutting your fertilizer use in half-great work! 🚀
      Regarding the pH rise in your reservoir, this is often due to microbial activity or nutrient interactions that can cause alkalinity over time. Here are a few tips to manage it effectively without overusing pH down:
      1️⃣ Check Alkalinity Levels in Your Water: High alkalinity in your source water can cause pH drift. Using reverse osmosis (RO) water or a water conditioner can help stabilize pH.
      2️⃣ Incorporate a pH Buffer: Adding a pH buffer, such as potassium bicarbonate, can help maintain a more stable pH range.
      3️⃣ Monitor Silica Additions: Silica is alkaline and can contribute to pH rise. Make sure you’re adding it first and fully mixing it before incorporating other inputs.
      4️⃣ Optimize Nutrient Ratios: Ensure your nutrient mix is balanced and not causing chemical reactions that elevate pH. Some nutrients, when interacting, can increase alkalinity.
      5️⃣ Gradual pH Adjustments: Rather than adding a large amount of pH down at once, adjust the pH incrementally over time. This helps prevent overshooting and ensures a more stable environment.
      Keep experimenting and tweaking your approach-you’re clearly on the right track. Let us know how it goes, and happy growing! 🌿"
