In this video I'm reviewing the new arrival on @kickstarter the @biigloo Aerogel sleeping bag!
I bring it into the garden for a quick negative 8 celcius test and out for an overnight trip where it dropped to negative 5 and give you my opinions on this bag, it's size, practically and feedback after the night out.

With 10000 hydrostatic head. I don't think you need to sleep underneath a tarp. But you're wise to because the zip is not waterproof.🤫
Absolutely! Luckily they never stated it was a waterproof zip so I'd never assume it was 🤙 I do think they've updated the design to have a zip cover too now so that might solve that issue. Thanks for watching! 🙏🙏
It’s a load of bollocks, the zip leaks with minimum water on it
I don't think the zip is meant to be waterproof and if it is I doubt it would be very good if at all as its quite a chunky one with no seal 👍
The actual comfort rating of this bag is -15C/5F. That's a far cry from -40. The Kickstarter page compared this bag to other down filled bags with a COMFORT rating of -40. Talk about misleading marketing.
That's a fair point. I know the extreme value is - 50c but unfortunately I haven't been able to test it lower than around - 12c as of yet. Its been extremely warm when I have used it but cannot comment on the lower degrees. Thanks for watching!

Yes it's definitely a bit on the big side haha! I think with the Kickstarter price it's not too bad but the materials are great quality so I guess it's justified in that way. Thanks so much for watching 🙏

Good review primal , being yellow on the inside makes it good to see any insects or bugs in your bag.

@PrimalNomad perhaps 'scam' is too harsh. The funds were certainly mismanaged and there is no product. A real shame, as you said.

good to see some new insulating materials coming out for sleeping bags hopefully more outfits will start using this or use other new insulation materials.
to me it looks to bulky for my needs and I would have to do without some of my gear to get it in my pack but I have to say I like the temp rating per weight as it can get -40c here
And yes I have heard of aerogel years and years ago...
I can appreciate the size concern and agree that its probably a bit big for most camps but when needed I'd say its worth having vs some other gear :)
Im also so happy to see a company pioneering a new bit of technology that might well be the answer to alot of outdoor issues. The first of anything is always going to be the worst too and for first attempts this isn't bad at all.

@@PrimalNomad I would like to see if it lofts up after time being in the compression sack for months or will it lose its insulating power after many uses and will it brake down over time from heavy use?
I looked at the site and was wondering would it be a better solution if they got ride of the Dupont Sorona bio fleece and upped the aerogel to 2mm would it make it lighter and less bulky?
@@nomadsurvival4952 I'll make sure to do some long term reviews and ask the team at biigloo what the difference may be with the upgraded mm and less fill. It's a great question!
Although you never tested it (others have) it's worth noting that the zip is not waterproof, so you will definitely need a bivvy bag or tarp if you'll be camping in the rain. Good to know that it's great for sub-zero temperatures
Absolutely! I do believe that the Kickstarter release now has a full cover for the zip that reduces the amount of water ingress. I really appreciate you watching.
