    Geat filming and sound track Eric. It explains a lot to me, not just about the trail but also the accomodation and food. A lot different from the self catering treks I'm used to.

    Brilliant, looks like you had an amazing experience, and this is the first AV2 video that actually shows how exposed the trail is and how much via ferrata is on it. Thank you

      According to the description, Via Ferrata sections are optional and they went off the main trail in some cases.

    Wow! Incredible vistas and scenery. Looks like some dangerous hiking and climbing at times as well. What an adventure. Love this video!

    Te lo scrivo in italiano, questo è un video eccezionale, senza drone, montaggio stratosferico. Scelta musicale perfetta e beh...paesaggio... le dolomiti le montagne più belle del mondo. Complimenti 🙌

    Thank you for this video. It is realy fine.
    I walked this trek (solo) from Valcroce (Brixen) to Croce d'Aune (Feltre) from 18 to 29 August 2022. But my video is really too poor, so looking at yours I retraced every single step taken.
    Grazie mille, Marco

    That's incredible, you guys! I can't believe you conquered the Dolomites and made it look easy. I also really enjoyed the clips of wildlife, Erik.

    Great job! On both hiking and the video. Thanks for sharing!
    I've got 2 questions, please.
    1. How did you guys book the huts?
    2. Is there any day/hut that you would recommend to spend more than 1 night, so there is extra time to explore additional hikes or via ferratas around, before moving to the next hut?
    Thanks!

    Can I asked what kind of shoes you wore? I am doing this in 2 months and trying to decide if I can get by with trail runners or if I need something more burly. Thanks,

    Wow, such an amazing Video! Totaly underrated.
    Did I see it correct that you used trailrunners for the entire trail, including the via ferratas? Would you do this again or choose sturdier shoes for the scrambling sections?

    • @ErikJustErik
      @ErikJustErik  Рік тому +1

      We are both glad we used our Sportiva Bushido trail runners. The tread is a little more aggressive than the typical trail runner and they seemed to work well on the ferrata sections. But we both like trail runners in general, so it may just be a preference thing.

      @@ErikJustErik perfect! I could never go back to hiking boots, good to know this also works for via ferrata

    in addtion to the lanyard ( I got Petzl Scorpio Vertigo Lanyard)
    what type of harness did you use,
    I'm looking at some ultralightweight type like "Petzl TOUR Harness - Lightweight Harness for Glacier Travel and Ski Touring" Would it be sufficient for via Ferrata, or do I need a full climbing harness.

    • @ErikJustErik
      @ErikJustErik  Рік тому

      We used standard black diamond climbing harnesses that we already owned which were fine for the ferrata but a bit heavy. I think a lightweight harness would have more preferable.

    Love the video! I'm doing the V2 this august and wondered if you have links to your routes with all of the additional side routes and ferrata routes?

    Nice Vid,
    what are the actual miles/KM you log between Passo Gardena to Pisciadu and to Rifugio Castiglioni, I have the Cicerone book which stated about 20KM total, but there seems a lots of discrepancies from other online source

    • @ErikJustErik
      @ErikJustErik  Рік тому

      We did the tridentina alternative between Gardena and Pisciadu which was only 4KM but took a long time. From Pisciadue to Castiglioni it was another 15KM.

    What a amazing trip! I am planning on going July 2024 . I can’t get in touch with Rifugio Puez and Rifugio Pisciadu. They email doesn’t go through. Do you have any idea?

    I've seen several videos of Alta Via 2 but none like this. This is so real. You show how hard the hike is, not just how pretty it is. I'm looking at this hike for later this year and was curious about the need for ferrata gear but WOW, this shows how clearly important it is. What are your thoughts on wild camping on the AV2? I was told you can do it so long as you set up late and leave early. I like being in nature when I'm on a trek. Also, this hike feels like you're in and out of little towns so not so private feeling. What time of year did you hike it? Thanks and great editing!

    • @ErikJustErik
      @ErikJustErik  Рік тому +3

      Thanks man! I'd say about 30% of the AV2 hikers did not have ferrata gear (except for maybe a helmet), and I ended up being comfortable not using mine much by the end. We did do some alternative routes that used a lot of ferrata gear including the Brigata Tridentina, but if those are avoided then the gear is less needed (but it really just depends on how comfortable you are with exposure). Personally I also prefer wild camping, but it may be a challenge finding a good spot, and the Refugio experience is pretty great (although booking them can be a bit of a nightmare). We hiked this in late August, but which had decent weather but lots of crowds. If i did it again I would aim for early September since August is a big holiday time in Italy.

  • @kl-ke9ec
    @kl-ke9ec Рік тому

    How many sections requirest a Via Ferrata kit, were there alternative routes you can go by to avoid?

    • @ErikJustErik
      @ErikJustErik  Рік тому +1

      We did some extra Ferrata sections that required a ferrata gear. About half the AV2 hikers had ferrata gear but there were some alternatives that some people took to avoid needing gear. Personally I am glad I had the gear, since it let me see some of the more scenic sections of the trail.
