This is a GREAT documentary! So much representation of Queer stand-ups. Literally we see Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Drag and the history they've either created or gleaned from.

i saw both the stand out comedy special in 2022 and this documentary last week and I got to say, it was truly marvelous. They gave us context and more breadth to the pioneers of gay & lesbian comedy, particularly of Moms Mabley dating back to when she wore suits in the 1920s (i didn't know that). I found that to be very important because that part of our history is not spoken enough. Gladys Bentley came to mind when i saw that. They also talked about an openly transgender woman living, loving and performing actively back in the 1950s and 1960s. That was beautiful to see. I'm so glad to see Marsha Warfield, Margaret Cho, Judy Gold and Sandra Bernhard part of the conversation still. The documentary also served to put a light on intersections between us and heterosexual sometimes homosexual comedians such as Richard Pryor who through their comedy served as allies to say it's not that big of a deal cause i sucked D for money lol. that was funny. 10/10

i watched this documentary a couple of days ago, VERY WORTH THE WATCH for the amazing history, very uplifting and I was there as a scared gay kid in the 80's, stuff like this helped me LIKE and accept myself and finally find my feet and create my own family instead of the family I was born into who HATED me and people like me. GREAT documentary, I remember it all.
I watched this documentary, and I loved it. Almost the same day it came out on Netflix. I always love being educated, learning is never a bad thing.! No offense to the ladies, I loved seeing Joel Kim Booster! I thought I knew a lot being a straight Ally - I knew NOTHING until the documentary. So glad you enjoyed it too.

Sandra Bernhard's brand of comedy was unlike anything else in the early 90s. From the retro 60/70s references to the latest in fashion and pop culture. It was niche stuff and you either got it or you didn't.
