  • Throughout History there have been very few Kings who were as brutal and barbaric as King Henry VIII. He was responsible for the executions of two of his wives and some of his closest friends. But Henry VIII when he was a prince was considered the most handsome prince of Europe, but in his final years he was a grotesque King who would become ruthless with his actions. He would condemn Anne Boleyn, Thomas Cromwell and many others, but in 1547 he would succumb to illness.
Inside of the Palace of Whitehall, King Henry VIII died on the 28th January 1547. His cause of death has been debated but he was then embalmed after his death before a huge funeral procession took place taking the King's body to Windsor Castle. Henry VIII was buried inside of a vault inside of St George's Chapel, and he is still inside of this vault 500 years later.

It's impossible to believe that he was greatly beloved by all of his people,70,000 of whom he had murdered.

In the series "Wolf Hall" a man predicts that quote "your blood will be licked up by dogs". This actually happened when the coffin arrived at Windsor. Blood leaked out the coffin and was licked up by street dogs😮

Very interesting. Being in cahoots with his crony, the archbishop of Canterbury, he eventually croaked, and that was only the first step to my personal awareness, what yet he had to experience.

I would have been so frightened to have lived in his and Elizabeth 1st era, but l find it most interesting. Henry VIII made boiling a legal form of capital punishment.

True, Henry was brutal, as were Sovereigns of that time, but many considered said brutalities as Justice.

His ailments reminded me of that famous Schoolboy howler. "Henry VIII had a large abbess on his knee which made walking difficult". ( Second only to "Abraham Lincoln was born in a log cabin which he built himself) 🤣 I often think teachers probably have a few good laughs at these innocent blunders when marking essays/ exam papers.

He was the most handsome king in Europe?. I'd hate to see the worst?. He looked like a bouncer on the doors and a bully. I wouldn't have liked to meet.
In the end, he suffered and finally knew what it meant. Comupence for his evil bloody ways. To think he could wipe the slate clean!?. His accident they claim, caused him to change his personality, which reminds me of the more recent case of the Glouster murderer,, Fred West. He was said to be a reasonable guy until he had a motorbike accident banging his head, and then he turned into an evil monster. However, there is no excuse for murder. Who later hung himself in prison. It has been said Henry's stomach exploded, on the way to his funeral. It was a very hot day,, and the buildup of gas in his belly was too much. I think he would have got on with, Hitler, Starlin, Vladimir the, impaylor. Very well.

He wasn't the most brutal king. Howz about William the Conquer who created the hung-drawn-and-quartered death for traitors. He wasn't a nice guy...at all😅

I agree with you. TBIs can drastically change the personalities of people. I had patients who went through TBIs. Sometimes just recovering can be brutal; memory lapses or loss of memory, behavior going through extremes including anger outbursts, lack of boundaries or inability to function physically or psychologically.
