Like you, grip selection is one of the couple things I'll change out on a pistol. I've been considering LOK grips for my pistol for some time now. I talked to them over the phone a couple days ago and now you post a video about the grips. I think I need to order a set now!
I have a set of Lok grips on a GSG 1911 style 22 rimfire. They work great and look great.
Love to see you work that SR1911CMD. I absolutely love the look, feel, and performance of that pistol. The blues look good on it. Be well, and stay safe out there.
Yeah, I certainly love my Ruger 1911 (and the Colt). I'm doing well and I hope you are also.
@@mixup98 We're okay here. I used to shoot IPSC with a stock, out of the box 1911 and 230 grain RNL slugs that I cast from wheel weight metal mixed with Linotype back in the day. Never won, but placed in the top 5 a few times against multi thousand-dollar race guns. I finally busted out of the house a few days ago and went to the indoor range. Felt good to get out among 'em after being holed up here for so long. ;)
I'm considering the Lok Ridgebacks in Orange / Black for my stainless 1911, similar to what you have here. I like the thumb rest on those.
MIXUP , always a pleasure big man , I bought a set of those grips off ebay , look identical , but these are no name brand , put them on m y polished series 80 mk iv , very nice addition , keep your powder dry , keep em' coming .
I have a set on my CZ-75 D PCR and my Beretta 81BB. Love them.
Yes I do like the blue grips...
The Grips are Super High Quality!
Enjoy. B9USA Sr. 😎🇺🇸👍💥
The Ruger is a beauty with the blue grips.
Love my lok & vz g10 grips, I have them on my 1911's & Yes they feel Great & improve Accuracy!!
Very nice Grips! I do agree with you when you say that grips on a Gun can make you a better Shooter. Very nice 1911, also!
I'm a bit of a late bloomer, just getting into pistols, so I really appreciate videos like these.
G10 grips do make a huge difference, on both 1911's and revolvers. G10 is expensive, but they are worth the money.
I love LOK Grips. I have 2 pairs of the for my CZ-75 SP01 and CZ-75D PCR !!!!!!!!!!! Top notch quality an worth every penny !!!!!!!!!!
I have the same Ruger 1911 and I must agree with you it is one of my favorites. Now I have to buy a set of them grips. I also think that blue looks great with the stainless 1911. Oh, another great video my friend.
I myself have a colt 1911, and when I got it I could not hit anything with it, I threw a set of grips on it and it’s like night and day. I was going to sell that thing!!!! Now It’s like a laser!!!!
It's amazing what a good set of grips can do when it comes to accuracy and control, especially when shooting a 1911.
Definitely like the blue grips!!!💥🔫
They are not as pleasing to look at, However, On my 1911's I use the Herrett HB-1, they are walnut diamond check cut top to bottom, Just a standard looking grip. the grips do not slip in your hands, they are also natural wood without a Finnish applied to them and absorb sweat. they are easily cleaned with an old toothbrush and lacquer thinner. I shoot bullseye, so I know what you mean about slippage as a 2700 lasts all day with few breaks. those are nice looking grips and enhance the looks of an average pistol, Sometimes the way a pistol looks makes it more accurate. :) hehe. Good shooting to ya - Dave
Nice Ruger... California does not allow many semi automatic Pistols for sale. Only one 380 Pistol offered.
Great looking Ruger 1911 and also like the grips as well.
You first couple of sentences are the main reasons why I subscribed to this really good channel.
Thank you!
As usual, another great video. Your 1911s bring back memories of my time in the Marines. Thanks!
Agree that good grips are a game-changer. Found that out myself after making a change to my own 1911.
Really like to see that Colt, though that Ruger is nice looking as well. I've heard those LOK Grips are really nice and sure glad you found some you like. Something else every 1911 owner needs. Thanks Mr. mixup98. Be safe and healthy out there.
I might do another video review on my Colt sometime this summer just for the fun of it. You also stay safe and healthy.
I always enjoy your videos. You have a unique and entertaining way to present your content.
Really good looking and I’m sure , functional grips . Those are two really fine looking pistols as well .
Hi, my wife and I are older Canadians that have decided to move on out of the city to enjoy the country life. So part of that is obviously being capable of handling things that come up. Love all the great info you give on your channel and I guess you just explain things in a way that makes sense to me.
We've bought a couple of hundred acres in eastern Canada and want to be able to deal with the nuisance critters, snakes, rats and what not that get into the garden and bother the chickens.
As well, we want to be able to manage problems from people coming on the farm to steal from us or at worst case scenario, harm us. Gun laws are quite different from the U.S.A. but that aside, the actual physics of guns remains the same. You sure have some good information for the uninitiated.
The courses and testing to obtain a license for both unrestricted and restricted firearms here is to say the least thorough. Nothing we can handle so the real problem comes down to the right combination of firearms to manage daily life and emergencies.
You're tutelage through these videos so far is inspiring.
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the kind words and I congratulate you and your wife on deciding to move out of the city and into the country. Being able to protect yourself and your wife is a right that should never be taken away. Thank you again and enjoy the country life, be safe and thank you for watching my videos.
Chuck Connors says more shooting lever guns from the hip!
Another great video Mr Mixup, the scenery is always a favorite of mine in your videos, keep up the great work!
Really like your videos....and I especially like the sound of the gravel crunching under your boots!!
The blue grips are a beauty.
Another informative, well done, no nonsense vid. Really nice looks on them grips.
Epic loved the Star Trek fade
Thanks Clayton and I also want to thank you for the sub. Stay safe my friend.
mixup98 Really enjoy your videos. Thank you for taking the time to make and post videos.
I've got a set of OD Lokgrips on my Ruger Officers 1911 they are awesome ..great shooting.
That blue looks very good. :)
Blue on the Colt, for sure. My Colt Competition came with blue G10 grips, but they had “Colt” plastered across them. 👍👍👍👍
I liked the blue grips as well. I own several handguns including some revolvers........and no 1911’s if you can believe that! After watching this, I think I might just get me a new addition to the family now. Awesome video 🤘
Shooting a 1911 .45 is just so dang American....especially when the slide says COLT on it. Thanks for the great comment Mark.
G-10 is fiberglass epoxy laminate, cured and machined to shape.
I have the same Ruger SR-1911 and I liked the factory grips well enough. Then I got a Rock Island 1911 with G-10 grips and they are significantly better. I plan to get some Lok grips for the Ruger very soon.
Excellent choice John. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment on my video.
@@mixup98Thank you for putting out great content. I don't know if the new grips will make me a better shot, but I'm sure they can't make me any worse. Lol. I also finally got a fiber optic front sight on the Ruger, which should also help.
@@8626John I would bet that the new fiber optic front sight along with a set of G10 grips will certainly help to improve your marksmanship. 😎👌
The blue ones look really good, infact blue is my fav. Colour
I agree 100% that having a better grip especially with higher caliber pistols matters. I just purchased a Dan Wesson Specialist and it came with VZ G-10 Operator Grips and I knew the minute I touched it these grips are special.
So now I’m shopping for grips for all my 1911’s and my 357 Magnum’s. VZ doesn’t have much I like for the 357 Magnum Kimber K6s so I’m thinking I’ll try Loc. thanks for the tip as always and happy trails.
Let me start with, OMG do you these grips match my gun? Couldn’t resist ! Seriously tho, I wouldn’t have considered blue grips had I not watched this. They look as good as they perform ! Good shooting by the way! I love metal targets. Thanks for another quality video !
I have a pair on my Browning hi power. They have made my grip on the pistol much more secure.
Got a set of golfball grips on my duty 1911, agressive, but AWESOME!
I agree with your assessment. I have an SR1911 in 10mm Auto. the first thing I changed was the grips, similar to yours, but different brand. the second thing I added was grip tape by Talon Grips to the front strap. The rear mainspring housing is already checkered, so now the my hand has a grip on the gun all around. It makes a huge difference for big loads. BTW, the Ruger is awesome in 1911, and is my favorite 10mm.
I haven't shot a 10mm handgun in about 20 years. Maybe it's time to get another SR1911 :>)
I was just looking at these grips earlier today while searching for accessories for my Beretta 92x which will be coming soon. Yeah man, I'm drooling over that ruger! Really beautiful! I have many things on my mind that I would like to own. The 10/22, AR, and Berretta were among those. A 1911 is most definitely on that list as well. 👍
I love shooting a nice 1911, especially with target ammo, and I'll never get rid of my Ruger or Colt 1911 pistols.
These grips are fantastic!
I agree and I have several other sets I'm hoping to review in the near future.
I think I might need to check them out👍
I slapped Hogues 1911 grips on my citadel. Feels fucking amazing!
Very nice! If my Ruger SR1911 (10 mm) didn't have such nice black rubber grips, I'd order these. I may need to buy another pistol just to get these grips!
MAN O MAN THOSE ARE BEAUTIFUL 🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯
Leaving texture out of the discussion, my preference would be to mount the brown grips on the Ruger and the blue grips on the Colt. My unsolicited 'contrariness' to one side, I really enjoy your videos. Please keep 'em coming.
Agreed I just got two of my Favorite handguns Stippled and makes a world of difference.🇺🇸🍻🤜🏻
The blue ones a very great . I love them. But it´s impossible to get them in Europe.
These seem the same as VZ Grips. I added those on my P01 and its brilliant.
I have an SR1911 Target and I’m pretty sure the grips are G10. They are very nice grips. I don’t know what G10 is but it works really well.
I keep looking for a pair of good 1911 full sized grips that are blue in color has some texture for grip and doesn't cost more than the gun itself. but everywhere I look I only see mixed colors, high priced, and smooth texture.
Nice Grips...
Nice video, love wood grips on a 1911. But nothing like G10 for great control, no matter how sweaty or wet your hands get . Nice pistols also , if you watch the video back you may want to tune the extractor on the ruger . Looked like the brass was coming pretty much straight back at your hat . Maybe not I don't know .
I never noticed the brass when ejecting from the Ruger but I will watch and take a look although I've never had a problem with extraction.
Nice!!
you should get a 460 rowland kit for one of your 1911's
Great Shooting!! & Two Beautiful 1911’s did the Ruger come with the extended slide release ? ..and how do these compare to your old Kimber 1911..?
Nice The most uncontrollable pistol I have ever shot is a Colt 1903 with mother of pearl grips. The keying bushing were also missing. Both grips would spin about the securing screw. Nickel plated as well so it is really pretty. I changed the grips out to checkered walnut a few years ago but have not had it out since. Shooting 32ACP is like burning ten dollars bills. In the last eighty years it may have had 200 rounds down the barrel, probably less. I like the Ruger...my last three self contained metallic cartridge rifles have been Rugers. Your videos are partially responsible for two of the purchases.
I don't doubt you could hit a fly with a 45. Nice grips too.
That 1911 is a beauty. I paid 350 for a Tisas, because I didn't have the dough for a legit name brand. I really wanted a 1911 in my collection though. Although, I must say, it is a good little 9mm shooter..
I'm thinking bout buying one in 45 acp I watched alot of vids on them and everyone loves em
@@lamontgray6015 for the price, and the actually having a full size 1911, you cant beat them. And, they are reliable AF
@@brasstacksboxing409 that's what I'm hearing from the reviews and everyone who owns one gonna have to scoop one up I didn't know they had em in nine mil wish the store had that version
They sure are purty :)
These grips look great on a stainless or chrome plated 1911.. i don’t think it would look good on a blued gun.. nothing beats cocopolo or rosewood on a blued 1911 in my opinion
I really enjoyed this video! Wondering if you're still using the Lok Ops grips? If so, how do you like them now long term?
I was torn between Lok and VZ but with the price difference being $30 for what looks like the same thing, I'm leaning towards the Lok Grips. Wondering if you'd recommend the ones you have in this video or would try another style? Thanks!
I still have the LOK grips on my Ruger 1911. I really don't think I will ever change them as I love the look and feel of the blue G10 grips.
👍Good stuff✌️🇺🇸👍
if there any big defer between standard grip and thin?which one would you prefer?btw very nice grip you got there.
THE BLUE ONES LOOK BETTER ON THE COLT AND THE RED/ORANGE ONES LOOK BETTER ON THE RUGER.
JUST MY OPINION.
I finally gave in an tried G10 grips on one of my 1911s. Now I am wondering why I took so long to do it. They do more for me than the 25 LPI checkering I have on another. And blue G10 just looks great on stainless.
Hi. Love your videos. Would you be willing to talk about your work at Wackenhut?
Was wondering if you've done a comparison video of your Ruger and Colt 1911's?
Hello Brian. I haven't compared the two pistols side-by-side but it does sound like an interesting video. Thanks for the suggestion and hopefully I can come up with enough ammo to the do the comparison.
Thanks for the info sir...You're one of 5 or 6 that get a "thumbs up" before I watch the video.
Does anyone know if the Ruger SR 1911 10mm model bushings are standard on the Magpul grips ? I bought a cheaper after market grip and my screws won't tighten all the way, do I need to order shorter bushings ? They were Amazon coolhandgrips BTW. Just let y'all know if that happen to you.
👍👍

G-10 is the designation by the National Electrical Manufacturer’s Association, a the original use of the material was a substrate for printed circuit boards. It is made by soaking layers of fiberglass cloth, and heat curing it under pressure.
