Thank god people are still honouring these wonderful compositions. It’s a shame that the modern day movies and games don’t remain in tact with what made the original games true classics.
I'm wondering why reboot is not using this theme. It's so characteristic for the series. It's like removing Indiana Jones or Star Wars themes from this movies.
In fact, the first reboot game does use a portion of this theme. The main riff in the reboot theme ( ua-cam.com/video/VIqvSNDIlTs/v-deo.html ) is basically an "augmented" version of the main riff in the classic theme with a couple rhythmic and interval changes ( ua-cam.com/video/6be0UUsN68s/v-deo.html -that's the example that comes to mind; I also heard comparable references to that riff in some of the other games, but I'm not interested in hunting for them). I imagine that the original plan was to develop this theme, along with Lara's character, to be more and more like the classic by the end of the reboot series but the developers threw that away and made what we have now. There's actually a pretty notable example of this in _Star Wars:_ "Rogue One's" theme is basically a "diminished" version of the classic _Star Wars_ theme ( ua-cam.com/video/SGVqPP-52No/v-deo.html ). This really substantiates the point that the 2013 reboot was meant to be an origin story for Lara, before she was the Tomb Raider and before all the stuff that would happen in the older games.
@@MonstrousOgre It's pretty disappointing. The first game was a really good setup for an origin story for Lara, but then her character just never substantially developed after that.
@@georgeofhamilton I personally didn't even like the origin they set up in the 2013 game. I prefer classic Lara's origin where she was self-made and wasn't raiding tombs because of daddy issues.
I've told many friends that Tomb Raider had some of the best background music I have ever heard in a game. Their reply is always "what music?" They have never paid attention and/or are not Tomb Raider players!
Actually if they played the PC version, there'll be no BG music but the Main Theme and in cutscenes, as far as I know. The battle theme is so iconic yet I am sad I never got familiar with it during my childhood due to it being missing from the game files.
A score so perfect that as soon as you hear it, you can instantly see in your mind moments of the game it relates to and the experiences you had. The original Tomb Raider nailed so much that every single game after it failed to capture all that magic again perfectly. Amazing soundtrack and a title theme that should have been standard throughout the entire series.
I was like three years old when I watched my parents play it, and I still remember the T-rex, the temples, the final boss that gives me nightmares, and of course the beautiful songs of this game. Twenty years later and it gives me chills and tears. Thank you so much for that.
God!!! Made me shiver!!!! How i fucking love this music. Tomb Raider is the best for real. I'm still playing it over and over again, never gets old ❤️❤️
JUST WOW.. Hits ya right in the heart. I was 21 when I got my PS1 and didn't know a thing about Tomb Raider Waited in a line Inside of a mall at an EB store. How many people remember Electronics Boutique stores? Never heard of this game before going there. I was browsing the games with Girlfriend and her sister at the time and the sister brings me this game and showed me the pointed boobs on the CD case and I laughed at them and said Naaa.. Prefer my boobs round, but then she said no check out the back pics. Ok those pointed polygons started to look more roundish then. I said WTH and snagged it up along with madden. I decided to put TR in first and didn't even look at madden until I beat TR and then instantly restarted it after ending.. I was hooked and in all honesty that game keep me away from Heroin. I just got out of jail before PS1 came out and I for sure needed to pick up a new hobby and change my life. TR did that for me 100%. Instead of getting HI on that Unforgivable Hell of a drug that is Heroin, I started to remember what Natural Hi's felt like again and to have feelings, and emotions that I didn't use Heroin for to escape or deal with. The good ones you would've had just became numb to them and never get to feel the true power of having good over bad emotions and feelings. When I heard the first bit of Music that came on I was like WTF? In a GOOD way. It went thru me like no music ever did before. Then as the game kept going I had more emotions and feelings hit me So hard I just remember crying. In a way it forced me to look back the last 5 years of my life of being hooked on Heroin and the hurt I put my family through and seen how much that CRAP ruined me, but at the same time I had more HOPE and Positivity in that moment and time that I was 100% sure I wasn't going to use it again and didn't. How could all of this happen because of a Video Game and some symphony music? If I knew the answer to that one I'd bottle it up and give it to addicts at a young age and tell them to try this over what they were doing or thought about doing. I'm just going to go with a moment in my life were something or someone reached out and smacked me and said, "Get your Shit straight boy and live life in a positive way and enjoy what it truly has to offer." 😇 TO anyone that had any part in making this game from Top to Bottom. You literally saved my life..
I was there. in 2013, my first PAX, I played Tomb Raider (reboot) for the first time. It threw me into the series and it's only fitting that I would experience this at the place that introduced me to the games... 5 years later.
50% the music i50% the music including sound effects in the environment of all the game's stages and finally, 50% everything else. Images, gameplay, story and the character Lara, made TR1 legendary! The magic that it is!
Excelente concierto de tomb raider, yo soy un gran fanático de la saga y he jugado todos los niveles. Mucho más esta música que te llega al fondo de alma... éxitos y gracias por ese hermoso regalo
Anyone else hearing memories past with her dual unlimited pistols firing and the occasional oomph from running into a wall? This was the game that you could leave it on the main menu and you were happy with the sounds and music you heard
I cant believe some kids these days dont know this icon... she really did change the gaming industry forever
I think they know, but they don't know this version, only the crybaby with daddy issues version
Thank god people are still honouring these wonderful compositions. It’s a shame that the modern day movies and games don’t remain in tact with what made the original games true classics.
Modern Movies has such dull and forgetable Soundtracks... its a shame
i'm glad to be the hundredth who comment this beautiful comment
I'm wondering why reboot is not using this theme. It's so characteristic for the series. It's like removing Indiana Jones or Star Wars themes from this movies.
It's not just the music. The only thing the reboot has in common with the classic series is the title and the character's name.
Castlevania

The original Tomb Raider was beautiful, engaging, intriguing, and fun to play on its own, but Nathan's music made it truly magical.
I love it. I want life to be simple again.
Ah, yes. The 90s.

The composer of the first tomb raider game wrote all these gems in a week due to short deadline. Just incredible
When they ended with the main theme, it gave me instant chills!❤🤙🏿

Did you know that the music from tomb raider the angel of darkness was actually made by the London orchestral symphony
Not exactly, Peter Connely wrote/composed the music of TR:AOD, and London Orchestral Symphony performed it.
BEAUTIFULLY done!
