  • This circa 1944 black-and-white presentation of Army-Navy Screen Magazine #27 begins with the opening strains of the “Army Air Force” song (today known as “The U.S. Air Force” or commonly, “Wild Blue Yonder”) and “Anchors Away” before opening with “Just Like Home” at mark 00:30, as members of the 13th Air Force stationed in the South Pacific are shown heading out for a day of fishing, and after trolling, head for shore and a picnic as well as some spear fishing and goat hunting. “That’s like Americans, too. Spending the week shooting down Japs and then go goat hunting for a little excitement,” says the narrator at mark 02:00, as we watch the men feast on their roasted prey.
By mark 02:30, “East Side West Side” introduces the viewer to Alfred E. Smith, former New York governor, who reads a letter from a former East Side New York resident and takes the viewer on a tour of the area, including stops at the Fulton Fish Market and Seward Park High School, where young men are shown preparing for the day when they will enlist in the service. “Going Home” opens at mark 08:38, and tells the viewer of French pilots training in the United States before heading to the war in Europe, as we then see some of those men in action.
Private Snafu (the cartoon character created by director Frank Capra) wraps up the film starting at mark 12:35 with “Gas,” featuring the voice of Mel Blanc. During a gas mask drill, Private Snafu is shown frantically searching for his mask while the rest of his outfit fall in. (Bugs Bunny makes a cameo appearance at mark 13:30). An animated first sergeant then puts Private Snafu through his paces.

Our ability to view information on a freedom of information system and through your tireless work was really pointed out to me recently. I was at a UA-cam channel were the host was hunting down WWII relicts in and around Germany. He came across what turned out to have been a German base camp that had been occupied through most of the war. They found everything from clothing to kitchen supplies to armament. One young lady( I won't mention names) was wondering why everything had been left behind. I left a comment that since the base was occupied till the end of the war that when the war ended they probably saw no reason to take anything with considering they capitulated. Now when you leave a message, if someone else responds to a thread that you did, UA-cam sends you an E-mail. This happened about one week after my response to her comment. When I went to check it out, my response was deleted, the time stamp on her question was reset to two days ago, and the host put his own reply in "we may never know what happened". We know darn well what happened, but I forgot, in Germany with a German host, you are not allowed to discuss the facts if they put said country and host in a perceived though factual unfavorable light. I no longer waist my time viewing his scued web site. I thank God for your efforts in preserving and presenting the truth. We still live in a country where that is allowed. We put both are clean and dirty laundry on display. Thank you so much for being a big part of that. Keep up the great work you do and I hope people realize how lucky we are to have this freedom and people like you to preserve and present. Thank you and God Bless, Paul

Please don't take this as a rant, but rather as an opportunity to point out how good we have it and how important and appreciated your work is. Thank you and God Bless, Paul.

We are divided as a country, and unable to come together for a greater purpose. We have lost our social fabric, it is a tragedy.

which is why the thorough destruction of America it isn't just being allowed to happen, but it's facilitation is being aided by people too "afraid" to stand up for their own freedoms. We have gone too long without a collective struggle of real importance which is why I believe there are so many made-up, social issues. Reminds me of the saying, "Idle hands are the devil's playground".... what do you think idle minds are then.

@@Standing.W.Israel Well put, to paraphrase Mark Twain, we don't suffer from physical courage, but what is lacking is moral courage. I believe moral courage has been lacking and getting worse. The desire for power over rules it. Glad to hear you're identity is female. Sounds like there's no confusion there. Nice to know.
