    I can say this was the best game I have ever played. Not exaggerating.

    I hate it when people complain about the cut scenes in MGS, especially when they haven't even played it.
    The cutscenes in MGS are why I love and play the game. They are top of the line story telling. They will have you laughing, cheering, and deeply focused. Sure, it's like watching a movie at times but it's a DAMN good movie. The story is up there with anime and block buster TV and movie series. It truly gives impact and meaning to your actions and mission. The characters really grow on you and you can't help to love them all.
    If you don't enjoy Metal Gear, that's fine but I don't like how people bash on it on the basis that the cutscenes are too long. You can at least respect why people like it

      I know I love cutscences!;)

    • @XxsuperstudlyxX
      @XxsuperstudlyxX 9 років тому

      ^ That's an opinion though. I will admit, for as long as those cutscenes were, I do wish that there was more gameplay to go along with it. More gameplay in between cutscenes. But to call it hammy writing is an opinion, not fact. To you, the writing is hammy, so I could see why you wouldn't like the game. To a lot of people, including me, the writing is amazing. That goes for anything, books, movies, music... for example, my friend loves Twilight, I think it's stupid. Doesn't mean it's a bad book, just means I thought it was stupid.

    To me, MGS4 is the best PS3 game. That is... until MGSV get released on September. But first we'll have to see if it ends being better or not.

      Super Casal Xou That's a dificult one. MGSV's story is crap compared to MGS4, but from a gameplay perspective MGSV is awesome. It's been like 5 months that came out and I can't stop playingit. It's hell lot of fun...

      Yeah, i have bought the game in pretty good condition for like 5 bucks, which is still pretty cheap for such a good game. Think it has to do with the fact, that while many, many people have bought the game back in the day, many sold it, because they couldn't stand the long cutscenes. There are many practically new versions of this game out there, because many people have just not finished it.

    This game almost reaches perfection! After solving the story mode once, I passed it a couple more times just to unlock all the guns and costumes. Boss fights are epic and I saved every level of Themes 1, 2 and 5 to play them whenever I want. Online mode is also awesome, you should have shown it in the video.
    Anyway, awesome game. As many said, this game sold PS3s. xD

    Acts 1, 2 and 3 are ok, but acts 4 and 5 are really the parts that makes this game so great. The return to Shadow Moses is one of my best gaming experiences I have ever had. The moment you enter that area with the end song of MGS1 in the background is almost magical.

    I think mgs4 will be better then 5 for me 5 will still be a great game but there's a massive difference between David hayter voice and jack bower( I can't remember his real name) but I have really really high hopes for the game

    Same with me. I've always been the type of person who was very good at understanding plots. When I first played MGS4, the only MGS game I had ever experienced was the MGS1 demo. However, I loved MGS4 so much that I replayed it instantly. I was picking up all the answers to questions I hadn't even yet heard, and I filled in the rest by doing some research. Since then, I've become a bonafide expert on the series' plot, and now I've beaten all of the games and can answer any question from memory.

    mark i tell you, when play stealh games, i play stealth games.. when i play action, i play action games. mgs4 can play both in 2 ways but the priority is in stealth, not action like cod.
    most of people maybe 'not patient'.... or get boring they must wait for enemy soldier pass by, shot them with tranq. gun, but that make mgs series have deep strategy, not like cod. kids can play cod, but i'm sure they dont like mgs.
    i think more easier if you play very easy, finish with 0 alerts, get stealth. with stealth you can shoot anyone undetected, except gekko and dwarf gekko.

      @ZenakuShinigami 10 років тому

      the problem with mgs4 is that they give you to many guns and the option to go in like fucking rambo. cant blame someone for using dominant strategy. thats why mgs3 was so much better, because there was a need for sneaking.

    • @ZapWires
      @ZapWires 8 років тому +1

      The reason MGS4 is great is that you can go in guns blazing and sneak, something I feel is also somewhat applicable to MGS3.

    The gameplay evolved the series into what it should be. It can be played stealthily or not. The controls finally don't suck, and the camera is improved! The story shed the most light on the characters in a way past games didn't. The ending is one of the greatest moments in video games ever.

    I have no problem with the long cutscenes. I respect your opinion. But I personally love the long cutscenes. MGS to me is a playable film. Not just a game, or a movie. It is like a great combination of both. Fusing the best aspects of both forms of entertainment. I do agree with this though. I wasn't big on the whole Otacon's love Naomi dying thing. It doesn't annoy me, but I could easily have done without it. But I digress. I actually liked the story better in 3, but the gameplay better in 4.

    POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD
    MGS is my favorite series of all time and even I didn't really LOVE this one. Not because of the gameplay (or the debatable lack there of) but its the story. How they tried to wrap things up mostly. Everything was just.. nanomachines. What caused Vamp to be immortal? NANOMACHINES! What kept Naomi in the story? NANOMACHINES! What made the troopers super soldiers? NANOMACHINES?!

    You should definitely play them in order of release because the stories are layered so that with each subsequent release you have a better understanding of the overall plotlines as well as some new questions. Playing them out of order would mean you'd lose out on the small touches Kojima added in to reference previous titles, which he does very frequently. Plus, the games get easier and more fun to play as they are released.

I love all the MGS games a lot. But I just love the Cold War time period, plus the ending of MGS3 is just amazing. But then again so is 4's. The ending of 4 was great in every way, the way it wrapped things up so perfectly.

    RE4 wasn't really REish, at least not the RE I grew up with. But it was still a great and enjoyable game in its own right. I loved MGS4, one of the best games on the PS3. I love how it lets you play however you want. MGS1 on PSone is a legendary game, but I remember back in the day wanting to shoot up some shit, and the game often wouldn't let you play it that way. Both MGS and RE series are leagues ahead of Call of Duty, though.

    According to Hideo Kojima, "MGS4 is a game that I created for hardcore MGS fans who have known and loved the series since MGS1." However, if you don't have the time and money, I recommend to watch GameTrailers's Metal Gear Retrospective series, which pretty-much briefs every single Metal Gear game prior to MGS4. That's what I did before playing MGS4, and I still really enjoyed it.

    yeah, it's going to be a bit fiddly trying to re-wrap things again after MGS:GZ and MGSV add in a whole bunch of other details, we'll need an MGS6 or 7 to FINALLY get the story straight. I'd also really like to see that remake of Metal Gear 1 and 2 and perhaps that other game about The Boss in WW2

    I'd recommend it. Between the first 3 it had a lot of plot hole and this one fills in every one of them. If you play just this one then the other ones you'll get confused easily.

    I think that it really depends on the particular game and type of story that is being told that determines whether cutscenes would be an appropriate method of story telling. Now I can't say for certain since I haven't actually played this game, but it seems as though, cutscenes are probably the best method in trying to convey the story of the game, as opposed to using something like Half-Life's method, because of all the information it's trying to get across. Plus, fans seem to truly enjoy them.

    No. I didn't(I've played the first two MG games now). I played the first MGS game first and just kept up with the Solid series, And it really is fucking perfection. The MGS series is the only video game series to make me tear up. The characters and story is fucking perfection. Not to mention it is insanely addicting and absolutely fun.

    Mark, are you aware of that there's a MGS parody where Snake uses the bike-pump from Dig Dug to kill an enemy or that was just a coincidence you said the same? Check you Metal Gear Awesome if you haven't already.

    I had this opinion for years. This is a game that's basically a soap opera. If you give yourself to the story and the characters and treat it more like a book that is just playing itself out, it is a staggering piece of technical mastery. I don't know if I'd call it one of the best games ever made but it's definitely one of the best realized.
