- This is an unusual NRE dyno. This beast broke the NRE Dyno once again. This engine really wants to break free and take off! Tom gives a tour of the engine design and we see the unusual methods he is required to go through to test the beast. For more information about these engines and more go to nelsonracingeng.... For assistance in telling your product's story go to VeritasMovieStu.....
everything about that engine makes it make huge horsepower. A 632ci engine with quality porting probably makes like 700hp BEFORE turbos. Adding turbos with water to air intercooling on top of the good airflow from porting allows for a very dense and cool air charge on top of the huge hp it makes and the hp just multiplies. Plus a quality valvetrain set up for the turbos just adds icing on the cake.
Amen to that! There's no replacement for displacement. I think the motor I'm building,a Buick 3800 Series II. falls somewhere in the middle though. Since people have still made 1,000+ horsepower with a turbo Buick 3.8 v6, I think I'll be plenty happy with it and have enough horsepower (and torque) to handle most cars that want to challenge me. If I run across a huge twin-turbo v8 like this car, I'll leave it alone though.:) Very impressive!
beast is a major understatement
This things outrageous what i would give for Tom Nelson to build be a engine.
Awesome guys, if I come and live in the states any time soon, I'm def giving you guys a call for a nice build. Then again I hear your sending them to Australia, that sounds tempting.
he was standing while he blipping the throttle guy is fucking insane
id like to see him build a twin turbo diesel..... love your work Mr. Nelson
Holy shit those pipes got really hot!
Face it, a Honda will never be as badass as this beast.
Thats unreal, just imagine the tires required to make that thing hook.
Question is...how long will it hold together. Lol!
Amazing output! I am hooked. Just wish I had the pocket book to match my ego... : )
I hate turning wrenches. Been doing it all my life. I would turn then for you guys anyday!
I have a 99 FRC VETTE.
One day it will have your set up in..
Obviously Craig is from Australia and obviously he came to NRE lol. Those god damn burnout contests.
I think that's the first time I've seen flames come out of a blow off valve
That engine should make well over 3 thousand horsepower it’s a monster I’m not sure the fuel you guys are running but we’ll done it’s making crazy power on low boost
So what exactly is patented? I've seen mirrored turbos since the '80s... Unless he just means he made new turbos himself.
That is some Juice! Love it! Beautiful motor - nice job guys!
What kindof transmission can handle that? A greyhound bus trans? How about an Allison abrams tank trans? lol
***** this man knows the truth
Poop turbo 400
lol
this engine needs to go into an old mini cooper. nothing like massive power and nothing to hold it back! :D
my hair blew back sitting at my desk....HOLY
Can you please tell me what a beautiful piece of art like that would cost?? Thanks.
Thats crazy about the black hole. Im guessing no one watched it that far :P
i'd like to see what HP a Kaase mountain motor would make with that turbo setup
WOW! All I can say to the Imports is. "Bring It"
I'm a Mopar guy, but I don't care if it's Mopar, Ford or Chevy, you put Turbos on it, and I get a fucking Hard on!!
do you guys have a transmission that could handle that? the clutch must be like stomping on a brick wall...
motor for the new Space Shuttle. The Big Block Chevy was GOD's gift to the hot rod world.
ok now read my first comment posted on this video in reply to "cacman1993", never did i state that the Veyron engine produces 3000bhp! Show me where its stated that "Mr. Nelson's engine really makes 5000 hp, but 3000 is lost as heat".
Actually, i took a look at the website that's in the description. It's a sort of "Crate engine" that they put in normal cars for 'bling' and racing cars/super cars/track cars.
It's overkill for the sake of overkill :B
I really dont think losing any power is going to be a problem with this engine.
fuck me how fast did those pipes get red hot!
6766 is rates for 935 hp, and they've already built 1000+ hp evo's anyways. Those turbos on that engine are adding like close to 2000 hp, that engine na would be like 600 hp something like that. If my evo was fully built with the 6766, it would be pushing 900+ to the wheels, although not saying you were talking shit or anything, I was wondering how the boost affected bigger engines
You know that you have a badass engine when it sucks all the air out of the room!
Put that in a KING OF THE HAMMER RIG!!!
You get 220hp/l from a fully built engine with TT, dry sump etc. Wow! American muscle! :P
With that kind of torque you'll need a solid core driveshaft! Even then it MIGHT hold ;)
Dude subed after the singularity event post! Stinking awesome! I do think you transported some photons to a distant galaxy bro! Somewhere in the universe some alien is like what's American muscle? They are more than likely praising the car Gods now, for the revelation that is American muscle. Hey it could happen! Any how I need this power in my life now! Please
If Tom does this. I'll buy a motor from him if he will stroke out a 388 and twin turbo-charge that let me see some dump videos and I'll send him the ride to put it in a pay in full up front. I've been watching nre tv for bout 4-1/2 years and can't wait to get a motor from Tom. Stroke one out with turbo-chargers and let me see about 60 runs on dyno at 8900 rpms and I'll b happy
Turbonetics core turbos. Interesting.
Would be cool if there was an inset pic showing gages
Nbd... I have the same one in my room... I use it for my alarm clock! just kidding this thing is a monster, nice built!!!
They're not even scratching the surface with 14 lbs of boost..... geeez
I want that in my GTO
Oh please, there's been plenty of 4 bangers out there that have been built and can push 1600hp+. Yea these v8's have a lot but there's nothing like getting beaten by an unexpected 4 banger that runs 6s or 7s
Pretty sure the difference is that the Bugatti is a "mass" produced road legal super car that you can drive every day. I doubt that engine would be able to do that. Sick non the less though
What aircraft was this designed for?
Does anyone know what Craig is going to do with this engine, is it going into his commodore?
Good lord do those headers heat up quick
Oh guys... :] I wanna see a vid on this channel with the whole package flying on the track. Juice? True dat. Eagerly awaiting Tom's next juicy and fucking juicy engines. Aww, and add fucking juicy into the tags
This is fucking crazy!!! I want that in my kart :D
what is this built to go in?
he would make a Buggati worth owning!
With an engine like this I think you'd have to buy stocks in U-joints.
Was that oil cooled only??????
how many lbs of tourqe is in 1 g?
Why was he blowing into the turbo? :-)
what kind of transmission could handle 2200 horsepower?
TELL YOU WHAT PEOPLE ..THIS IS ONE BAD ASS MOTOR ...THIS IS A STREET MOTOR..YOU WANT HIM TO BUILD A FLAT OUT RACE MOTOR .I WILL BET HE CAN EASILY BEAT THE 4.000 HORSE WITH OUT TRYING ..
will it fit in a 95 gmc sierra???
HOLY FUCK I'M IN LOVE.
What cars can this engine fit into?
Sweet motor
I saw that later, sorry guys. '-' Just was distracted.
i wonder.. what is a gallons per mile on this thing
I would stick that engine in a old mini copper. would be the fastest thing on 4 wheels.
it has nothing to do with the vehicle it has to do with rotational mass and drivetrain, which is why its not a flat number but a percentage. to build a trans and rearend to handle this will require massive components from the torque they will experience, such as a fully billet turbo 400, 4l85e, lenco or something similar and a 12 bolt or 9 inch rear or bigger(yes they do make badder), then it is going to require a massive wheel and tire combo to get it to the ground, again from torque.
lol kid...as my fist comment stated, but ill be more specific now, the bugatti engine produces 3000hp at the crank, but only 1001(1200 in SS) HP reach the wheels in other words 1001(1200) wheel horsepower is the final output of the engine.
If you bolt it onto the space shuttle maybe.
Beauty n the Beast! Seven to Six second qtr. mi. Oh yeah ~!!~
Juicy would be the word..
how much does one of these cost!?!!
12:31 wtf a black hole!!!!
a buggati is an 8liter with 4 turbos... not much room to add on there.. a 632 is about 10.35 liters
3000hp+ in a veyron holymother of god
Chunk Norris called, he said 2 words " Holy Shit" .
What's the durability of this engine and can it run on the street for hours without over heating?
I was wondering the samething looking at how hot those headers was getting. Any answers anyone?
lol....tell that to the Bugatti Engineers. To specify myself a little better, the Veyron Engine produces 3000 crank horsepower, which was my argument, but the standard Veyron only gets 1001 wheel horsepower out of the 3000 crankhp, and the Veyron SS gets 1200 wheel horsepower....and Europeans dont use what we Americans call pump gas....they use higher grade, higher octane petrol.
do i have to show u too, well then go to this link:
youtube . com/watchv=23LAr8nnxIY&list=LLc8uAGZXDzptdioDD2Top3A&feature=mh_lolz (remove the spaces), afterwards go to the 7:23 mark and listen!!
"whats inside your hood ? 2200hp fire breathing monster" wbu ? 3.8liter nissan gtr, pfffffffffff
lol ur not smart enough to remove spaces....hahahha ok look for this in youtube...BUGATTI VEYRON DOCUMENTARY [HD] and watch part one, then go to the 7:23 mark and listen..ta
a documentary about the veyron stated that the engine produces 3000hp, put it produces so much heat, it caused a fire and almost burned down the engine test facility.
hahahahah cawkman1993, ur buddy bamchuck even himself stated in a previous comment that nelsons engine produces around 5000 crank horsepower! hahahahahahahahahaha
just like oc'ing and benchmarking expensively built computer rigs. It's a hobby.
It should be around 2000 ft-lbs at 23 psi but the dyno's not able to measure more than 1750.
muito bom, isso se deve a muita dedicação, pena aqui no brasil nos nao ter acesso a tanta tecnologia automotiva para construir motores poderosos como este
lol......you should of stayed tune for the entire episode..... ok kid go to the 7:23 mark, press play, and proceed.
And it’s still makes less hp and tq than a factory Hemi did in 1964, even though the entire block is new, stroke, crank, rods, heads etc Chevy sucks all they do is cheat that’s why they have banned the Mopar Hemi 49 times now and got rid of Pontiac because they made more power just like Mopar. Screw gm I guess that’s why the Camaro is dead now because everyone wants a Challenger. Go ahead add more weight and ban the most powerful engine in history again Mopar loves it. Shit rod is just that it’s junk
All you folks comparing toms numbers to other builders need to remember the big picture. Tom builds his shit so you can enjot it for the next ten years driving to and from work , church, and the strip club. Im sure if he only intended it to last for a quarter mile he could be pulling in top fuel dragster numbers of over 10,000 h.p., but thats not what its all about. The hoky poky is what its all about!
lol....you can do that, you're the one making a huge deal out of fact taken out of a Veyron Documentary.
So I watched this video 6 days ago, and just woke up in the hospital. My treating physician said that I had fallen into a comatose state after 90% of the blood in my body had been redirected into my gentles... hopefully this doesn't happen for a second time.
i think for 2013 they are going for the smart car model... you know... gotta go green hybrid... right?
ok on this same video go to comment page 3, and read the comments bamchuck posted.....hahhahahahahaha
heres the link kid...lol
"youtube . com/ watch?v= 23LAr8nnxIY& feature= related" (remove the spaces)
At 30 PSI of boost this motor would hit 3000HP easy and enough torque to pull a small planet
I understand that u replied to my comment, now I don't have a pos Honda, like I said I have a real import. With that being said, talking about reliable motors, hmmm...Honda motor can have more 200k+ miles on them and still be running strong. These v8's here aren't meant for street action and aren't daily drivers. And I wouldn't call these gas guzzlers reliable either. there's plenty of imports that have 1600+ hp and would give these v8's a run for their money
higher stall speeds also lead to more power soaked up, standard vehicle estimation is 15% loss on standard trans 20% auto, a little extra for awd which is unlikely to apply here but the extra weight from beefier components will add some also, expect closer to 22-24% wouldnt be a stretch and is right in line with what other vehicles in the power class loose. so yah 700 might be a little high but 500-600 hp loss at the wheels is about right
I had considered the potential this would have in an old Camaro or something, and all I can think of is "Where the tuners at?"
...well.... that and... uh... myself screaming "Oh god oh god we're all gonna die" when I jam the throttle open. Could you even get the tires to hook up putting that much power down? My lack of experience as a driver shows, I guess, asking that, but good lord, that would be insane. And trying to keep it in a straight line?
It would be SO FUN!
Depends on the size of the turbo, engine, ect, bud. 28psi through a coffee straw, and 28psi though a toilet paper roll is quiet different when we talk about volume of air. Evo 8 inducer is 48mm, evo 9 is 49.5, where this motor has twin 88mm's. Plus the size of his motor, and that thing makes more power NA then your evo would with a 6766. Boost pressure is just a reading of resistance in the intake system. Smaller motors take more boost to move the same air as a motor with more cylinders would.
in the video he says he has a ceiling vent 4 ft above which was insufficient. you sound as if you do this all the time and 2200+ HP is just a stroll through the park, they are pushing the limits of their dyno which means they are stepping into territory for which their whole facility is hardly prepared. at the end of the day maybe your just not trying hard enough since your not forced to improvise by removing windows and adding fan support.
Do you realized a Bugatti can be raced at 1200 HP and this would exploed if raced? It would destroy tires and it is very unstable and can breakdown in less miles than a vw scirocco
If you realized how business worked you would know that Bugatti doesn't want to kill people with a 2200+ HP engine and that they could get much more power from their w16...
While I do agree that they could get more power its just not necessary and I also agree that Bugattis' are over-rated
They dont want more than 1200 hp on that engine, cause the rest of the car cannot utilize that much power anyway. Bug's are made to last long milage, to drive well everywhere and to control that power well. This engine is supernice but won't be usefull for more than a handfull of special case cars on earth. Its like comparing apples and pears.
