  • This is an unusual NRE dyno. This beast broke the NRE Dyno once again. This engine really wants to break free and take off! Tom gives a tour of the engine design and we see the unusual methods he is required to go through to test the beast. For more information about these engines and more go to nelsonracingeng.... For assistance in telling your product's story go to VeritasMovieStu.....

    everything about that engine makes it make huge horsepower. A 632ci engine with quality porting probably makes like 700hp BEFORE turbos. Adding turbos with water to air intercooling on top of the good airflow from porting allows for a very dense and cool air charge on top of the huge hp it makes and the hp just multiplies. Plus a quality valvetrain set up for the turbos just adds icing on the cake.

    Amen to that! There's no replacement for displacement. I think the motor I'm building,a Buick 3800 Series II. falls somewhere in the middle though. Since people have still made 1,000+ horsepower with a turbo Buick 3.8 v6, I think I'll be plenty happy with it and have enough horsepower (and torque) to handle most cars that want to challenge me. If I run across a huge twin-turbo v8 like this car, I'll leave it alone though.:) Very impressive!

    Actually, i took a look at the website that's in the description. It's a sort of "Crate engine" that they put in normal cars for 'bling' and racing cars/super cars/track cars.
    It's overkill for the sake of overkill :B

    6766 is rates for 935 hp, and they've already built 1000+ hp evo's anyways. Those turbos on that engine are adding like close to 2000 hp, that engine na would be like 600 hp something like that. If my evo was fully built with the 6766, it would be pushing 900+ to the wheels, although not saying you were talking shit or anything, I was wondering how the boost affected bigger engines

    If Tom does this. I'll buy a motor from him if he will stroke out a 388 and twin turbo-charge that let me see some dump videos and I'll send him the ride to put it in a pay in full up front. I've been watching nre tv for bout 4-1/2 years and can't wait to get a motor from Tom. Stroke one out with turbo-chargers and let me see about 60 runs on dyno at 8900 rpms and I'll b happy

    it has nothing to do with the vehicle it has to do with rotational mass and drivetrain, which is why its not a flat number but a percentage. to build a trans and rearend to handle this will require massive components from the torque they will experience, such as a fully billet turbo 400, 4l85e, lenco or something similar and a 12 bolt or 9 inch rear or bigger(yes they do make badder), then it is going to require a massive wheel and tire combo to get it to the ground, again from torque.

  • @koenigsegg1000
    @koenigsegg1000 12 років тому

    lol kid...as my fist comment stated, but ill be more specific now, the bugatti engine produces 3000hp at the crank, but only 1001(1200 in SS) HP reach the wheels in other words 1001(1200) wheel horsepower is the final output of the engine.

    lol....tell that to the Bugatti Engineers. To specify myself a little better, the Veyron Engine produces 3000 crank horsepower, which was my argument, but the standard Veyron only gets 1001 wheel horsepower out of the 3000 crankhp, and the Veyron SS gets 1200 wheel horsepower....and Europeans dont use what we Americans call pump gas....they use higher grade, higher octane petrol.

    And it’s still makes less hp and tq than a factory Hemi did in 1964, even though the entire block is new, stroke,crank,rods,heads etc Chevy sucks all they do is cheat that’s why they have banned the Mopar Hemi 49 times now and got rid of Pontiac because they made more power just like Mopar. Screw gm I guess that’s why the Camaro is dead now because everyone wants a Challenger. Go ahead add more weight and ban the most powerful engine in history again Mopar loves it. Tom builds his shit so you can enjot it for the next ten years driving to and from work , church, and the strip club. Im sure if he only intended it to last for a quarter mile he could be pulling in top fuel dragster numbers of over 10,000 h.p., but thats not what its all about. The hoky poky is what its all about!

    I understand that u replied to my comment, now I don't have a pos Honda, like I said I have a real import. With that being said, talking about reliable motors, hmmm...Honda motor can have more 200k+ miles on them and still be running strong. These v8's here aren't meant for street action and aren't daily drivers. And I wouldn't call these gas guzzlers reliable either. there's plenty of imports that have 1600+ hp and would give these v8's a run for their money

  • @1987jerryd
    @1987jerryd 11 років тому

    higher stall speeds also lead to more power soaked up, standard vehicle estimation is 15% loss on standard trans 20% auto, a little extra for awd which is unlikely to apply here but the extra weight from beefier components will add some also, expect closer to 22-24% wouldnt be a stretch and is right in line with what other vehicles in the power class loose. so yah 700 might be a little high but 500-600 hp loss at the wheels is about right

  • @DoubleCrossedPaths

    ...well.... that and... uh... myself screaming "Oh god oh god we're all gonna die" when I jam the throttle open. Could you even get the tires to hook up putting that much power down? My lack of experience as a driver shows, I guess, asking that, but good lord, that would be insane. And trying to keep it in a straight line?
    It would be SO FUN!

  • @stillboostn8403
    @stillboostn8403 11 років тому

    Depends on the size of the turbo, engine, ect, bud. 28psi through a coffee straw, and 28psi though a toilet paper roll is quiet different when we talk about volume of air. Evo 8 inducer is 48mm, evo 9 is 49.5, where this motor has twin 88mm's. Plus the size of his motor, and that thing makes more power NA then your evo would with a 6766. Boost pressure is just a reading of resistance in the intake system. Smaller motors take more boost to move the same air as a motor with more cylinders would.

  • @stevensrise

    in the video he says he has a ceiling vent 4 ft above which was insufficient. you sound as if you do this all the time and 2200+ HP is just a stroll through the park, they are pushing the limits of their dyno which means they are stepping into territory for which their whole facility is hardly prepared. at the end of the day maybe your just not trying hard enough since your not forced to improvise by removing windows and adding fan support.

  • @CenCt5Driver

    Do you realized a Bugatti can be raced at 1200 HP and this would exploed if raced? It would destroy tires and it is very unstable and can breakdown in less miles than a vw scirocco
    If you realized how business worked you would know that Bugatti doesn't want to kill people with a 2200+ HP engine and that they could get much more power from their w16...
    While I do agree that they could get more power its just not necessary and I also agree that Bugattis' are over-rated

  • @barath4545
    @barath4545 12 років тому

    They dont want more than 1200 hp on that engine, cause the rest of the car cannot utilize that much power anyway. Bug's are made to last long milage, to drive well everywhere and to control that power well. This engine is supernice but won't be usefull for more than a handfull of special case cars on earth. Its like comparing apples and pears.
