Marcel Lefebvre protected the traditions of the Holy Catholic Church and the Holy Catholic Mass he is a Saint. Many Saints have been first condemned by Church officials and later were canonized when their persecutors were NOT.

Love Bishop Schneider, He was coming to my Parish in Sydney Australia to serve Mass... then the virus hit and stopped all that. He is a Bishop that I would kiss his ring. There are few that I would.

People who throw that word schism around really don’t know what it means. And any church that offers the true Latin mass owes a debt of gratitude to the Archbishop
Offering the Latin mass or demanding the right to provide it to whomever he chooses to at the time with whatever means at his disposal to do so while calling that an emergency? An emergency urgent as a need for an ambulance when for example a woman is bleeding to death after giving birth? Seems to me that any man with enough courage to go out of his way to be ambulance driver real hero instead would be one who could offer the LAtin mass in the right spirit for sure.
I love the Latin Rite and pray that JMJ save and protect it. it is far above many of the Vatican II corruption with their dances in the altar. the giving of HIM in your dirty hand and I see where they also have pagan worship. the MASS is the praise and the thanksgiving for OUR SAVIOR DEATH on the CROSS for us. We and our sins were the reason HE suffered and died. the ransomed HIS BLOOD FOR us unworthy sinners . and seeing the wolves and the judases like frankie and most of the bishops in the US Church with them cowing to all the demands of the government over Christ, I learning to love Christ more and more and realize what HE suffer so when he was in the Garden alone. GOD save the LATIN RITE and GOD save tradition. modernism is more and more a corrupt and empty world full of losers and fools. we are in Noah's time and Lot's time and I understand more and more why GOD destroyed their world. HE is so wonderful since I would not have given anyone of you people who happily spit everyday in my face so much time

🙏 De Castro Mayer, a staunch traditionalist, refused to implement the reforms of the Second Vatican Council in his diocese. Until his resignation on 29 August 1981, the Tridentine Mass continued throughout the Campos diocese, along with all the other traditional Catholic practices and devotions. He continued this even after resigning as diocesan ordinary and being succeeded by Bishop Carlos Navarro. He was able to maintain a completely traditionalist "diocese" within a diocese, with around 40,000 faithful, which he organized in parallel chapels. (The diocese itself, without the followers of Bishop Castro Mayer, had some 850,000 Catholics.) This organisation was called the Priestly Society of Saint John Mary Vianney. Under the leadership of his successor, Bishop Licínio Rangel, this organization was subsequently reconciled to the Catholic Church and reconstituted as the present Personal Apostolic Administration of Saint John Mary Vianney, with the same territory as the Diocese of Campos, Brazil, by Pope John Paul II in January 2002. Due to his orthodoxy and his coat of arms, Mayer became known as the "Lion of Fields".
On his death bed, Bishop de Castro Mayer refused to sign a so-called "formula of reconciliation" (which would include an admission that excommunication was really incurred and that no situation of necessity, as claimed by Lefebvre and Castro Mayer, had existed in 1988) proposed by Vatican delegates at his death bed. He died of respiratory failure in Campos on 25 April 1991.

(should include this incredible "tidbit" too!!) ~ In 1988, he incurred the automatic canonical penalty of excommunication for participating in the illicit consecration of four bishops of the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX). This penalty also applied to Archbishop Lefebvre and the four bishops that they ordained. However a subsequent public declaration of the penalty by the Holy See omitted his name, identifying only Archbishop Lefebvre and the four bishops whom they consecrated. This was only one of several inconsistencies in the process. In 2009, Pope Benedict XVI lifted the canonical penalty incurred by the four surviving bishops in the hope of facilitating full reconciliation of the SSPX.
I really appreciated this. Bishop Schneider sums up the situation with the Society of St. Pius X succinctly yet in the context of the full history of the Church in less than a quarter-hour. The historical fact that for more than a millenium priests were made bishops without the explicit appointment of the pope is very cogent to the discussion about the SSPX. I also liked the way Bishop Schneider emphasized "in principle" when saying that a schismatic is one who is "opposed to the authority of the Pope in principle." Then, Taylor Marshall's relaying of Archbishop Lefebvre's stated concern that a Methodist ordination service was held in an English cathedral yet the Mass for which the cathedral was built was forbidden, concluding with "That's a state of emergency." Indeed it is. Traditionis Custodes forbids the Mass of the Ages "in parochial churches." If a particular parish church was built before the Second Vatican Council, then it was built for the Tridentine Mass. To forbid the very liturgy in a church that was built and consecrated for that liturgy is not a Catholic act of governance. That really does constitute a state of emergency. And demands emergency measures. Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us.

Shamefully I've been a fallen away catholic for a very long time. Have been praying the rosary for courage to confess my sins. Any prayers of encouragement would be greatly appreciated.
I will pray for you daily. Find St Louis de Montfort's True Devotion to Mary, approach Jesus through her, go to confession, then with the graces given you pray for the Church and poor sinners, and living for others you will be happier.

But rejoice, because by seeing so many examples from the history, so many (later Saints) were excomunicated by wicked bishops and clerics. Was not the first Australian Saint excomunicated for some time? So rejoice and persist in upholding the Truth.
The provided sanction for a bishop who ordains bishops without Rome´s approval was clearly delimited by being these normal times. Nowadays, these are not "NORMAL" times for the Church, these are more than extraordinary ones. As I remember Michael Davies made this observation, maybe I am wrong, but it is very logical.

Agree. Those bishops in China report to the Chinese communist party. They are not working with or for Rome. There is talk that the CCP rewrote Bible and liturgical documents.

Man, this whole SSPX thing is so confusing! They're excommunicated, then it's lifted but they can't say Mass but they can hear confessions and yet they can say Mass in some circumstances!?? Makes my head hurt!

Thank you, the initial distinction Bishop Schneider made regarding what is a schismatic - contrasting the Orthodox who reject the papacy in principle - whereas the SSPX does not reject the papacy in principle. That was very helpful. However, it seems that Schismatics also reject Conciliar teaching. For example, most Orthodox reject all Councils after the first 7. It seems that asserting that the SSPX is not Schismatic while they reject Vatican II creates the double-standard that only reinforces the Orthodox & SSPX's obstinacy against Conciliar teaching. (It seems the SSPX, Orthodox & Latin Mass communities/parishes/monasteries/religious orders all have a right to celebrate Traditional Liturgies though all should include prayers for the Holy Father. I agree with Bishop Schneider that Pope Francis' granting SSPX's priest the faculty to hear Confessions makes no sense. Like much of his papal decisions, it lacks and does harm to the integrity of our Catholic faith.

The SSPX are the original traditional movement.
The academic consensus recognises Modernity as being a radical discontinuity in Western civilisation. If the church were to embrace Modernity in the same way as secular institutions it would have to admit to a radical discontinuity in its own practice - which in fact Vatican II & Novus Ordo is.
Bishop Baron denounces the Extremism of the Traditionalist's position wrt Vat II. Either he is correct & the Traditionalists are Extreme or else he by inadvertent admission represents the Extremist element in the Church. Given the context of Modernity as Rupture & discontinuity, I'd say that Bishop Baron & the church he claims to represents is the more deserving to be designated Extremists.
Dr Marshall, should we be seeking fssp or sspx churches now if we are currently going to diocesan tlms? They say it’s only time until they stop the tlms in the dioceses. Our bishop said we continue with it but we are worried for our children and the future. Do you think they will in time shut down the diocesan tlms anytime soon?

Can a person that is Pius X take the Eucharist in the Catholic Church… say in a Society of St Peter mass? Like are they welcome to our sacraments? To our mass?

The Archbishop not least of all reveals how confused Francis is. Grant faculties to the SSPX and then try to stamp out the traditional rite. His understanding of the Catholic Church he presumably leads is utterly incoherent if one examines the things he says and does.

So, all afflicted, Jesus told me: “let us withdraw…have you seen how NO ONE WANTS ME? Or, at most, they want Me TOGETHER with something that PLEASES THEM. I Am NOT content with this, because TRUE REIGNING is when one reigns ALONE.”
