  • The CCTV footage in the beginning is a reenactment. But the scenes of families brought back together however are all too real. You can help us do more: goo.gl/8B88rK
For nearly 155 years the International Committee of the Red Cross has worked to bring families separated by conflict or natural disaster back together again.
Under international humanitarian law, aka the laws of war, people have the right to know what happened to their missing relatives. Governments, the military authorities and armed groups have an obligation to give information and help efforts to put families back together.

I lost my 4yo daughter at an amusement park. She was eventually found by a staff member. It was the most terrifying 30 minutes of my life. The suppressed panic. The running and searching. I absolutely lost it when saw her. She's 16 now and it still chokes me up thinking about it. God, I hope those parents found their kids.

I read in one of Reddit public chats a story of one mother. She lost a child in overcrowded mall, as soon as she understood what happened she jumped on a bench there and screamed to people about what happened and how her child was looking. So people were willing to help her, they began to search and soon after that the child was found on another floor of the mall. I think she reacted very well!

I got lost when I was 5 or 6, after I followed some ants and then a little girl who said hello. My father was playing chess, in the park and I slipped undetected. I remember I wasn't scared. Then again, I was a loner already.

I once had a mom in hysterics approach me in Mexico asking for help finding her toddler. I immediately ran to the road and checked every bus and car I could see on case someone was trying to make off with him. The child was eventually found wandering lost in the market. I shared her extreme anxiety and took immediate action to help locate the child. My girlfriend at the time sat there and didn't move and inch. I broke up with her because of it after the trip. I felt she lacked the most basic humanity for a child and mother.

I lost my sister (I was 10 and she was 5) while my family was doing Christmas shopping at the main street downtown, already dark and I was asked to keep an eye on her for a minute… worst time of my life. Just seeing my dad after a few minutes panicking and yelling her name in the middle of a huge crowd is something I’ll never forget.
The funny thing is that it wasn’t that big of a town and we lived quite close that street so she just hit home like nothing when she couldn’t find any of us in the crowd and waited for someone she knew to show up at some point.

I remember back when I was like 5-6 years old, my mom always told me to play in front of the house but one day my friends and I went to play in a park which was kinda far from home without telling my mom. When I got back home after only 15 minutes. I saw a crowd gathered in front of my house. My mom was sitting on road crying. I got scared that now she will scold me but when she saw me she ran and hugged me. Later she told me that losing your child is the worst feeling ever.
I hope no parent ever go through that🙏

When we found him about five houses down the beach, I just broke down and couldn't stop sobbing for an hour. It was one of the worse feeling I had experience. I lost my dog after he got hit by a car and ran away because of fear. It was raining and those streets where full of cars but I never lost hope and ran nonestop for 7 hours until 1:30am when he got back home on his own. He was crying and shaking just like I was but thankfully he wasn't hurt at all and I never felt more relieved in my entire life. I know for some people there is no comparition, but that is the most similar experience to this video. I'm so glad he's okay ❤ My house cat got out once and I was terrified she was going to get hurt or killed bc I lived near a main road at the time. I already didn't have any sleep and was walking up the road in a daze, expecting but hoping not to see her lying there after being hit. When I tried looking through the graveyard across from where I lived I was internally begging the people at rest there to help me find her. She was gone all day, probably enjoying the sun tbh, and came back that night. She looked freaked out (she's spooked by everything) but she was ok, thankfully. She's curled up next to me rn. For the amount of terror I felt then, I can't imagine what it must be like for a parent losing a child, even temporarily.

This happened to me in our own house. I took out the trash one night without properly closing our house door. I went inside the house, and then after 15 minutes I noticed my 2 year old son wasn't around the house. My husband and I frantically looked around the house but he was nowhere to be found. We searched outside and we were shouting and running around the neighborhood. Our house was right by the main road and my biggest fear was that he went out of the house and somebody took him. The police got called about 10 of them showed up. Neighbors went out to help too. Police searched around the house, nothing found. After almost an hour an investigator arrived and we went inside the house again to search, I was crying so much and was losing my mind. We went to my son's room for the nth time to search and just when we're about to leave, I saw a slight movement underneath the pillows. I immediately pulled the pillows and I saw my son curled up soundly sleeping! I was very distraught it took me one week to recover. I still cry whenever I try to relive that day.

As a child, I had this bad habit of letting go of my mother's hand and running ahead of her everytime we went to the mall. She would aways be worried sick trying to catch me before I went somewhere out of sight.
Then one day, I let go of her hand and ran, but didn't hear her coming after me. I stopped to look back, but didn't see her anywhere. My heart dropped, I panicked and started crying my eyes out. Turns out my mother was hiding behind a pillar not too far away from where I was having my breakdown. She walked to me and said in the most chill tone, "Now you know how I feel".

EDIT: just to clarify since some of you seem to be confused. money isn't the only issue, and i never said it was. loving something so much and having it disappear despite putting in so much effort into loving it must be a living hell to experience. yes, while it is equally bad for the parent and child, sometimes the child doesn't understand exactly how deep the situation is. so please don't take the first part of my comment out of context.
nah. everyone usually only talks about the child. Imagine investing thousands, even MILLIONS of dollars into your kid, loving them with every ounce of your being, giving up on hopes and dreams, but having them disappear? holy shit. Some parents literally go INSANE trying to look for their kids, but half the time the child doesn't even realize the gravity of the situation.

I’ve “lost” my daughter in the store for 30 seconds. She was just behind a rack of clothes but it’s *sheer terror.* Every minute feels like an eternity. There’s no greater stress of fear in the entire world. I can’t imagine them being lost for hours or even years.

I swear my wife tried to lose me every time we go shopping together. She somehow managed to find me at the food court after she’s done.
