I've watched several of these review videos today and this one is the best. Nicholas always does an unbiased and fair review. I like the parlor mahogany best 🙂
Glad I waited to get that new acoustic. While I love my high end acoustic, this looks likes a great option due to its size, weight, tone and cost. Definitely something I’m going to evaluate. So many guitars, not enough time. Well done…..
I hope i can randomly come up with $2K to get the mahogany parlor and then the sitka dread. I can hear so much room for creation between the two! Excellent review!
What is it like living with a battery powered guitar? Do you have to think about it often? Do you think twice about plugging it in because of it? Anybody has any experience with it?
The contour knob rolled all the way down gives an EQ profile that sounds more like an acoustic, and with it up it sounds more like a regular electric guitar. Also, in general an acoustic-electric really should be recorded via a microphone at a speaker, rather than directly plugging in to the mixing board and just getting a dry electrical signal. You still need sound waves traveling through air.
Idk, for $1000? I’m just not sure I’m seeing the value prop as opposed to spending that on a decent full sized acoustic and decent pickup… most good acoustic electrics already have eq controls built in, so seems like the size/weight is the biggest difference here.
This is the best review of these guitars. Unfortunately, this guitar sounds best with a room mic, like most acoustic guitars. So sad that nobody can develop a decent way to amplify an acoustic.
I have an acoustasonic tele but it seems like the highway might have a better acoustic sound for recording. I am torn between the parlor and dread. More drawn to the parlor but it seems like the dread is likely to have deeper tones and maybe separate itself more from the acoustasonic. Any thoughts on these comments based on what you’re experience?
Guitar Center is very good at not answering questions directly. It means that the back is constructed like a thinline electric, with the hollow parts carved out of a solid piece of wood, rather than constructed like normal acoustics, where the sides and back are different thin pieces of wood.
The headstock is not fit at all. For my taste, it will be much better with 4-2 or 3-3 "music man" style headstock, with minor changes (more round edges, like fender headstock ending). In fact, this one is another acoustasonic version, with different body type.
Fender, make this guitar deeper in depth so that we can get an actual acoustic guitar sound. I don’t think the magnetic pickup is doing this instrument justice either. With some tweaks I believe you could have something tons of players would want. It can’t just be comfortable, it has to sound excellent too. Keep all the body contours, make it deeper, and develop better electronics that showcase the sound. Acoustic players don’t want magnetic alone sound. Perhaps add a body sensor and small mic like the new system LR Baggs HiFi Duet.

I think it sounds best too. The dreadnaught sounds boxy to me which is weird. You would think the parlor would sound boxy being smaller.
I just bought mine. I can’t wait.
That parlor is easily my favorite guitar from 2023 😍
love your channel nick love what you do
sexy sunday serenades lol
you funny
Would be nice if there was the option to get a traditional headstock
Yesssss

the electronics sound really really bad in person
Blown away that such a shallow body can give so much sound!
It sounds fantastic in the room! (As heard on that Warm Audio WA-14CL!)
They remind me of the Beatles ESJ-160 with the pickup at the neck and the 2 knobs.

Man a Florentine cutaway would be amazing…

What’s ETA for being in the stores?
None of my local Guitar Centers have these in yet and a couple stores didn't even know what they were. smh
Does the body have a resonance to it when tapping?
I'd be sold if there was a version with wider string spacing for fingerpickers.
I was about to buy a Acoustasonic Tele, but i was never a fan of the electric-shaped acoustics. This is perfect. Are they USA made or MIM?
These are made in the Ensenada factory. Thanks!
That’s MIM for you.
I'm generally not a fan of parlor guitars but this one sounds much bigger than it is. 👍
Like #91, beautiful guitar song, amazing guitar sharing, great guitar tutorial.
Nice video.
Where are they built?
Mexico
why no cutaway??????
So they can put that out later.. 😂

Or so you will buy a Mexican made (or American made) Acoustasonic Tele or Strat.
Does it take a 9v battery?
Yes

Not a fan of the high frets, but I’m getting use to it. Got mine new for $799, if I had to pay the full $999 it would not have been worth it.

Sounds like semi hollow electric unplugged
What is the back made of? I understand the top is solid, but not sure what " fully-chambered thinline" means
It's a mahogany body. Thanks!

Skeptical of the design choices
the fishman pickup really isn't doing anything for this guitar. bummer. sounds incredible mic'd up though.

Feels good, looks good, sounds not amazing.
$400 too much.
Why are you miking it?
