As a longtime GI Joe fan, I dig the whole Cobra Mothership concept. After all, I would rather have something more obscure I don't have yet instead of something that already exists and I already have. But the price ruins it for me. 500 bucks + VAT + shipping?! Super 7 has pretty good global coverage through different wholesale distributors. But living abroad in Europe, I expect the price to be around 800 euro (around $850). I may be crazy (my wife will certainly agree), but I'm not stupid. You can be a fan and fanatical collector, but if we keep backing stuff like this, next time they will ask a $1.000. Heck, compared to this, Hasbro's Giant Man actually looks like a sweet deal...
The only G.I Joe ReAction figure I own is of Kwinn who appeared in the second issue of the original comic book run. So I don't think Super7 has the rights to only make stuff from the cartoon. As far as I know Kwinn was never in the animated series.
And the Reaction figures are ok for what they are but they would sell more if they were in the $5-$10 range. The action figure market is in the same short-term profit mindset that is currently killing the comic industry. Keep making things more expensive for a smaller and smaller pool of people instead of making things more affordable and even possibly creating a future generation of collectors.
The ship is just too damn expensive. As much as I want one, they could have thrown a bone and sold this in build a set sections. Each playset a piece of the whole. It's bad enough that you have to fight to get the leftover crack 5 point figures, this to me just adds insult to injury. I can't even get enough of these figures to get excited over. I tried to get into the joes, and missed the mark on some of the ones I really wanted. The figures are just meh. The hook is the filecards, which Has-Been can't even be bothered with to make. The figures remind me of bumped up Star Wars figures from Kenner.
What about a new Action Points figure, Rollout as BA or Murdock spin on Desert Rat movie modern? The line alongside Biblical Adventures on KS I think you mean is Almighty Legends which is Warrior Angels and Riders of the Apocalypse with army builder bucks.

You’re wrong. You’re assuming S7 has done some market research, the way Hasbro or Mattel do it. These guys can’t afford market research, they don’t know how to do it, and it wouldn’t be worth it anyhow given how niche those toys are. At this stage, greed, hubris, reality distortion from living in the Bay Area are why the price point is so high and why the product is even made. They took the previous numbers from the Cat Lair campaign, and added in some of the numbers for the Joe’s campaigns on Hasbro. The end. If you think their toys are crap, then believe you me their market research is inexistent.
American factories have a two year lead time to learn how to make articulated figures? They are wasting time. They should be learning how to make action figures now so they can be ready to pick up any slack.
@@3POAPodcast Yes, there are larger issues that need to be addressed. Nonetheless, American manufacturers in the USA really should be working to make sure they are prepared for changes.
@@hammertronactionfigures2426dude, there's no margin in toys. The biggest toy makers in the world don't make money on toys, they make money licensing those IPs to more lucrative mediums. And they're already using cheap Chinese labor. If/ when the Chinese move on from being the manufacturer of choice for plastic goods, maybe, wherever those manufacturing plants end up becomes the new hub for articulated action figures, but most likely, the hobby dies. There is no scenario in which a US for-profit company takes over making toys. You have a better chance of Beta max coming back after the collapse of streaming.
@@kiltedcripple What? No money in toys? What are you talking about? Why do you think Disney bought Marvel and Lucasfuilm? Disney wanted to make money from the toys. If, for whatever reason, USA companies are not able to use factories over seas then they need to be ready to switch manufacturing back to the USA. There are many factors that need to be addressed to bring an end to the absurdly high costs of doing things in the USA.
@@hammertronactionfigures2426 you've misquoted me. I didn't say no money, I said no margin. And look at Mattel and Hasbro's earnings statements, sales are down, prices are up, profits being recorded on brands are largely the product of licensing. That's why D&D got a quarter of a billion dollar movie and you were asked to over pay for a helicopter. Ever wonder why the toy aisle keeps shrinking? Especially action figures? There's no margin there, too much product goes to clearance. Stroll through the electronic section, see if the TV selection has gotten smaller. There's double the square footage given to video games, and no one buys discs anymore. Seriously, go listen to any of the podcasts or live streams by guys who work or worked in the business, those stupid shampoo bottle figures with 3 poa make most of the money made in boys action figures, and they're still barely exceeding the cost to produce and distribute. Seriously dude, do you think Mattel or Hasbro would resort to crowd funding, where they enjoy 100% of the revenue, if they thought they could move units in a Walmart? They're lucky to get 12,000 people to buy a Sentinel, if they sold that in Walmart, that's 3 for every Walmart in the US, they aren't confident that they could sell 3 Sentinels in every Walmart for a profit. There's no profit margin in action figures, not for the scale of big box retail at least. And the community gets smaller every year, so it will continue to dry up.

That's actually a really good point. I assume Super 7 does market research but if they don't that explains a lot.@@Strateggo
American factories have a two year lead time to learn how to make articulated figures?
They are wasting time. They should be learning how to make action figures now so they can be ready to pick up any slack.
Even if they did that the figures they make would be unaffordable for most. No one wants to pay $90for a basic Classified figure.
Seriously, Magic the Gathering and D&D are the only reason Hasbro is profitable, every other sector, including boys toys, is losing money.
My issue is Super7 hasn't earned this level trust
I think its cool, it didn't have to be that big and the price should be less. I think 24" would have been better. Disco is not dead, either lol.

I don’t care if disco is dead or not, the title of the show is a call back to a line of dialogue from cobra commander.
