Aluminium machining demo - Solid round tools

The need of machining solutions for machining of aluminium is in strong demand. In this demo we use our new solid end mill, CoroMill Dura dedicated for aluminium and some of our drills and taps to show some high performance machining solutions.

Did the endmill have any coating, or MQL through the tool to stop chip welding? If I were a betting man, I would have said it would weld itself solid during the 2xDish slot. Very impressive.

Hi Kevind this cutter has no coating and the machine doesn't have MQL it was using air blast only. We only did this for the video normally we would always want coolant or MQL for this sort of cut but for just this video the tool can manage happily.

How thick is the video wall?Can it be processed to a thickness of 1 mm?

Around 2.5mm in the video I'm guessing. I'm sure it can go 1mm but not in all applications obviously.

You can see it's one of DMG's Speed Master spindles. You can google some data.

The speed is 17501 RPM (660 m/min) the machine is a DMG DMU 80 not sure on the Kw it has
