Tools we Use
Soldering
I currently Use 3 different handles, standard, micro-pencil and micro tweezers.
I will say having the standard handle and micro pencil is a necessity and the tweezers
are intermittently useful but not necessary.
Tip choice is largely personal preference, unless its conical.
I use bevel or chisel tips for standard handle and knife tip for micro pencil, standard ones for the tweezers.
Fume Extractor- Not available on amazon, but we use a Quick 6102A1 (Dual Port) The single port is the 6101a1, don't cheap out on your health!
I believe there are some vendors in the US on eBay for these or you could order on ali express Union repair etc.
Solder fumes are bad to breath, get a good fume extractor lest ye get the cancer!
amzn.to/4aumQa9 - Hakko FX951, Single input soldering station with standard sized handle (FM-2027) and stand
amzn.to/3WTAtgb - Hakko C1551 Dual Port Soldering Station (FM-203) Station Only
amzn.to/3WUQZMP - Hakko FM2032 Micro Pencil, my most used iron by far.
amzn.to/45bKcAF - Hakko Micro tweezer+stand+tips
amzn.to/3R0AeMp - Quick 861DW Hot Air Station, Makes things hot , reliable, I like angled nozzles.
amzn.to/3WUv2NP - AMScope SM-6T-FR Microscope head we use with a boom arm. I like the boom arm, some people don't, this is a personally preference.
If you have a shaky table, you should get a stationary non boom arm mount.
amzn.to/4bycmbe - Barlow .5 lens. double your working distance , halves magnification.
Working under a microscope is frustration without a Barlow lens.
amzn.to/3KjWRaI - AmTech NC-559-V2-TF, The Goat of flux. Smells of oranges.
Testing
amzn.to/3WUQZMP - Siglent SDM 3045X Benchtop multimeter, this is not really necessary and a hand held meter is fine for most applications.
This benchtop supply makes it easy to have an overlay in OBS and has some fun features.
amzn.to/3UTgzPM -Fluke 117 Handheld multimeter True RMS. This will work forever and this is what I used before using the Siglent.
I still use this for larger items that cant go on the table.
amzn.to/44XCPfJ - General USB C amp meter, if I didn't need my meter to show on my computer screen, Id use this, its 10$ and works great.
amzn.to/44WAVfx - Fancy USB C amp meter, has software with fun things like graphs, you can see it on your computer screen.
amzn.to/4bR2Yiu - Thermal Camera, the amount of things this makes faster or possible to fix is astounding.
For anyone fixing board professionally.
Misc:
amzn.to/3KjVzMU - Large Heating Mat, great for MacBook LCD only and many other repairs.
Tweezers:
amzn.to/3V2nnuy - Dumont 5 tweezers, the fanciest of tweezers, I use these for only microwork, great for jumper wires and other fine work.
amzn.to/3QXTha1 - Hakko curved tweezers, great general purpose fine point curved tweezers.
amzn.to/44VvvBq- Hakko straight tweezers, like above, but straight. - Наука та технологія
this is wild. super cool stuff.
8:54 actually if you check the schematic (great to see you using Paul Daniels Flex Board View) you will see that the Magsafe3 uses a CD3218 but the other three USBC ports still use CD3217's. Thanks for nothing Apple 😂
I think the 0 ohm resistors were in the wrong position?
Just double checked, you're right , taking the board out again and reorienting, curiously the device has no audio issues, I assume it would become an issue at high volume, thank you for pointing that out!

I have created my first UA-cam short to show this issue being resolved, thanks again for pointing it out 👍
@@morethanafix Very good friend, less bad that it didn't cause any damage due to being soldered in the wrong orientation. Congratulations on the great work and explanations
