Emily and Cole, I just wanted you to know how much I'm enjoying your channel. I watched Emily on WWSB and was an early fan of her bright personality and easy-going, natural style of presenting. Cole, it's been fun getting to know you, enjoy your humor and emerging seamanship (I think we'd all enjoy an evening laughing and swapping tales at Marina Jack). I grew up on boats (power) and it was actually my parents buying a boat in SRQ that brought me to live here many years ago. So glad you were able to handle the storm and hopefully you'll get some good rest in port. Red skies at night! Jules
That would be great! We currently do not have any plans of being back right now but keep in touch with us on social media or shoot us an email: Hello@TheAdventureCrews.com
The thing is, they had time to heave to or wait out the storm to pass and they kept on trucking. I wonder, if you’re reading this, would you do anything different? Ps I’m not done with the video so you may have answered it.
I have a L-40 s/v Truly Amazing we meet at Just Cats while you prepped the L-42. I have two 3 blade Max Pro feathering props. I put my props in reverse most of the time. If your doing over 6 knots in Neutral my props begin to hum. Max Pro and Yanmar said reverse if ok. With that said as 10 sailors and you will get 10 different thoughts.
Thank you, looking back at it, I am not sure why we didn’t have them on. We typically do and they were in arms reach but you are right they should have been on.
So glad you made it. Following your journey is amazing. I look forward to watching every time you post a new video! Happy Sails to You from Lisa and Mike Modrick 💜
On a catamaran it's usually safer to turn downwind in a storm as long as you have sea room. We have weathered several on our catamaran over the last 8 years and 25,000 miles.
I was going to say that previously. Downwind, your speed is subtracted from the wind speed, opposite upwind. You are going with the blows (hits). Unlike monos, cats are very stable downwind. That said, best if you have a good drogue system to control excess speed. Of course, this cat may look a little like a performance cat, but with that huge amount of windage, and relatively narrow overall beam, she more towards a motor sailer. So comes with powerful engines, so slowly motoring upwind is also a good option.
Hey Cole and Emily! Boats looking great glad you’re enjoying it! I’ve been watching the journey and the growth! Don’t worry about your saildrives they are splash style bearing and are under the oil the entire time so it doesn’t matter weather you’re running or in neutral. -your favorite JAS Marine mechanic 😊
It’s been an unusual summer here in New England with all of the severe storms and rain. It was my first thought when I first saw you all were planning to head this way. Stay safe out there
That's a couple episodes of storms and adventure (not the good kind). I bet you'll be happy to get back to sand, sun, and calm seas. Love the size of the boat - but I'm hoping someday for the Silent-Yachts for the solar/electric over sails and rigging, but they don't have a lower cost model. :( Donate for a Dream
I prefer feathering props as opposed to folding props. I prefer immediate power and a simpler mechanical connection inside. The folding props have some jankier internals. Also when you power up folding props typically have this long violent throw when it unfolds. That can't be good over the long haul. If you do get a folding prop stay away from the flexofold (spelling might be off) brand. I've known so many people to have problems with them. Also always get a three bladed prop for better performance in currents...about 33 percent better.
@@laurapitre5797 I've had three friends have their Flexofolds fall off for no reason. It costs thousands to replace. When talking to them they believe galvanic corrosion/lack of effective anode action on the set screws. That or the unfolding process being so violent that the set screws shear combined with potential galvanic action.
God i hope you know that if you get caught in a storm and your sails are up, to turn on your engines both of them and turn directly into the wind to drop your sails. You will never demast your boat if you don't panic and follow those simple rules.
Well done guys. The fact that you knew to get the sails down before the wind hit means everything. Give yourself a good pat on the back. Keep up the good work 💪 SV Kiwi Lady Opua Bay of islands New Zealand 👍🏿
Guys trust your boat. I've been in 60 +ft of waves & 150 kts of wind. The wind turning the backs of my legs purple. Like a big hickey. And I was only on a 50ft Cutter. So calm down.
No in 1991 we were caught in cyclone Rodger between New Calidonia & Australia. We ship wrecked eventual on Cato Reef & were rescued by coast guard. it's a big story. And I would do it all again. But only if the outcome was the same. When you go into survival mode you aren't scared. You go into action and are driven by pure adrenaline. But at the end of days without proper sleep you crash. The best adventure of my life because I now no what I can do. However I was a lot younger then. BUT TRUST YOUR BOAT. Fare winds.
Captain just a suggestion: when you are in a middle of a bad situation you should never show fear if you show it all aboard will freak out. Never say I am shaking trust your abilities you know your vessel and have experience. And you will learn more everyday. “Exito”
We’ve done it a couple times in bad conditions but she is trained to stay right by our side so it’s not a big concern. If she wandered around the boat, that would be a totally different story.
Honestly Dixie never has had issues with the boat. She is such an amazing dog, we are amazed by her almost daily with how trusting she is of us…as long as she is with one of us she is totally fine in any situation…it’s kinda crazy.

Good Morning Vietnam! Hey, this is not a test. This is rock ‘n’ roll! Time to rocket from the Delta to the DMZ.
I could keep going lol
Hahahahha that’s right!
When Cole says, 'enjoy all its beauty', he looked at you! 😉 Well-said!
Hahaha! That’s right! - Cole
Shit happens FAST out there. As soon as you see that 53 k put your fowlies and PFD’s on. You should also have wearable EPIRBS
Agree…we want u safe
We do have them and we should have had them on!
The thing is, they had time to heave to or wait out the storm to pass and they kept on trucking. I wonder, if you’re reading this, would you do anything different? Ps I’m not done with the video so you may have answered it.
Again, all the emotions. Take care, be careful! Love you!
Thank you so much!
We so love keeping up with you via these amazing videos. May God continue to bless you and keep you. 🥰
Thank you so much 🤗

Love your videos. Would highly encourage you guys to wear pfds when in inclement weather situations

Ahh Thank you so much Lisa and Mike!
When you're at anchor or on a beach at night, be sure to point those binoculars up when you're under dark skies.

Hi Laura! That's a lot of miles! Tell us more please! Why do you think it is safer to go downwind?
I was going to say that previously.
Downwind, your speed is subtracted from the wind speed, opposite upwind.
You are going with the blows (hits).
Unlike monos, cats are very stable downwind.
That said, best if you have a good drogue system to control excess speed.

First.
Edit: Glad you made it, but then I knew you would. Cheers from Texas.

Thanks so much!! Unfortunately we are still loosing coolant. Just added some UV dye to it this week so hopefully will find out where it is coming from
Love your videos - can't wait to see you out on the water!
Good Morning Vietnam, great reference. Really enjoying your adventures, very entertaining. Keep it up
Thanks, will do!
Always turn bow into the storm under power.
Not recommended on a catamaran.
Im from the south and used to getting hurricanes! 65 mph winds is nothing on land but , on a boat, is probably totally different😳
It certainly is when it goes from 14mph to 65mph
Kudos to you for dropping the sails early so none of that had to happen.
It’s been an unusual summer here in New England with all of the severe storms and rain. It was my first thought when I first saw you all were planning to head this way. Stay safe out there
Thank you! We are starting out journey back south now with our first stop in Newport for the boat show.

You are right about that! Tomorrows videos will be a fun one for sure!
Merch store is looking good! Excited to help with some headwear 😎🧢

We love our Flexofold props and you have it backwards. Folding props are much simpler mechanically.

Folding props (I assume) won’t catch ropes and weeds as readily as feathering props.
Ideally with feathering, you should have adjustable pitch.
Good real video
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!

GOOD MORNING, VIETNAM!

Wow I can’t imagine! Sounds like Coast Guard?

Well maybe this is why I have never been good at poker…appreciate the comment and advice.
GOOD MORNING VIETNAM! Can't recall the name of the Movie?
that is the name!! LOL
Good Morning Vietnam !
Surprised you don’t harness the dog at all, he slips overboard you guys are going to be in a world of trouble getting him back.
We’ve done it a couple times in bad conditions but she is trained to stay right by our side so it’s not a big concern. If she wandered around the boat, that would be a totally different story.
Had you thought about getting a sewing machine to sew your sail?
No, we actually didn’t even think about that. Maybe we should but this was just any little rip lol
Closing in on 10k
Lets Go!! Thank you we are excited for this small but important step for our channel.
You spend your money like a guy named Mark. 😎
Wiley is much better looking......LOL
How long did it take Dixie to get comfortable on the boat?
Honestly Dixie never has had issues with the boat. She is such an amazing dog, we are amazed by her almost daily with how trusting she is of us…as long as she is with one of us she is totally fine in any situation…it’s kinda crazy.
remember, expect the worst and all we be fine
Please use all your safety gear …want u safe
Storm management is something you will learn, sailing through it, perhaps with a storm jib is one way, but you did a good job.
Thank you!
