the problem reminds me of a movie (i forgot the title) where the switch conductor had to either save his son, who would get crushed in the gears of the bridge (to open or close it) or the passengers of the train. ghad i still remember crying over that :(

I wont hit the switch. Simply because there are five people there so I'm pretty sure 1 of them will eventually realize or see the incoming train and will notify the others comparing it to 1 person who's working there, who doesnt have anybody around to notify her of the incoming train.

The breaks aren't working, which means switching the tracks to the curved one would abruptly change the momentum of the train and derail it. That way, no one gets hit.... Seems simple enough to me. IDK

Hit the switch, then once one of the train cars is on its new path hit the switch again for multi track drifting. No one was meant to survive. It's the only fair option.

I won't hit the switch because the five workers are aware of the situation. They are trying to fix the brakes even if it costs their lives. When you are in this line of work, you gave an oath and are sworn to protect others. In this line of work, there is always a risk. But if those five workers can fix their brake and prevent it from hurting others even if it cost their lives, then I won't switch.
