They don’t pay their bills and the government cannot reimburse it because they don’t have the right names. The maternity department is so overwhelmed because people are pumping out kids, and I’m sure you know. They have a patient diabetic, as well, people coming who are diabetic. Many people from South America are in poor health and many are diabetics and suddenly now they’re in the United States seeking. Many people also come in with drug dependencies. Since the current administration has been in office as hospitals lost money. You can’t run the hospital if you’re not gonna get paid.
This is a nationwide problem for hospitals. Many hospitals shut down because they can't pay their employees for the reasons cited above. Many remaining hospitals have closed their emergency rooms not wanting to continue to lose money and have themselves sued for those looking to win the ghetto lottery by ambulance chasing lawyers.

Now they have to go a whole mile to reach the next nearest hospital? Still way closer to a hospital than 99% of Americans.
Bet the property is already sold for new construction.
Meanwhile, NY rolls out the red carpet for non-residents. America first, please.
So true. And if the government gave billions they send to Israel to our hospitals, things would be better in this country.
Why is it closing ?
To many patients not paying their bills.
I’m very familiar with this hospital, it was great years ago people came and went very nice staff easy-going you got the greatest healthcare is there because you were maintained and an easy atmosphere many people used to love to work there. But now nobody wants to work there, you cant introduce thousands of people into a community that do not pay their bills and give fake names and shelters for addresses .
BTW since 1950 44 Chicago hospitals have closed their doors, and several more are on the brink. Many remaining hospitals have closed their emergency rooms not wanting to continue to lose money and have themselves sued for those looking to win the ghetto lottery by ambulance chasing lawyers.
Exactly and there is another hospital a mile away
Sounds like you're talking about Israel occupying Palestine.
I thought this was the reason. Have heard several other hospitals are closing for the same reason.
I'm sure that if health insurance wasn't prohibitively expensive people would just use that. It's just bizarre that the city wants $1200 for insurance with no deductible that isn't even accepted everywhere, and of course still has co-payments.
How much illegal migrant care were they forced to deliver at no cost???
too much!
And how many of the hospital's staff have been assaulted & robbed or worse?
Migrants come here pregnant and get the best free healthcare. Welcome to the USA, home of the free. And the taxpayers are on the hook lol.
I worked there. They were a mess well before the migrants came here. The interns told me the issues. Not surprised it didn’t close earlier.
@@Diana-yn2ho Totally
You can’t keep a hospital open that can’t make $$, simple as that.
Is this hospital going broke treating non paying migrants just like so many other hospitals across the country?
If you associate health with having lots of money. That is a VERY Republican opinion - health is NOT transactional in other developed nations. ONLY the GOP considers health a cash-only business.
@@thesoundsmith Please look at the comments. The hospital is overwhelmed with non-paying illegal immigrants and cannot be reimbursed by the appropriate government entity because they are not given real home addresses.
You can thank your lunatic party at both the Federal and local level, with open borders and ‘sanctuary city’ nonsense for all of this.
@@thesoundsmith What are you talking about? In Canada even the left wing socialist led NDP provinces charge for dental and drugs. And non-citizens must pay cash they don't give illegals jack. I feel like you've been smoking too much of those decriminalized drugs, which are also available in those NDP provinces.
@@thesoundsmith Hospitals in the US are required to treat people that come in for emergencies or what a patient claims is an emergency, regardless of ability to pay.
Hospital for the people closed. In a related story, a new migrant health center opened at the same location.
Capitalism blamed. More government solutions demanded. Everything gets worse. Repeat.
At the facility where I work we were told this about 2 years ago. Its not the only health care facility having troubles. 😢
Money is going to migrants ? What about the health of New Yorkers ???
Wrong. Legal immigrants boost the economy and help build the tax base. Illegal immigrants, on the other hand, burden government services and you end up paying for it. Do not conflate legal immigration with illegal immigration.
This hospital has been on the verge of closing for over a decade. Nothing to do with migrants.
That's the problem in Uncle Joe's America doesn't count to be a US citizen
Why not both? The rich are getting the most government subsidies, yet they need it the least. Profit driven healthcare is deadly for most.
What money? This is a private hospital
Voting has consequences
Yes. Never vote conservative. They hate helping people.
I'm predicting a condo building will be built there.
4 the illegals
They will not let me reply
Luxury condos
As someone who was admitted to Beth Israel a couple of decades ago (I don't live in NYC any more) for treatment I find this a sad turn of events.
But there's money to house, feed, n fund illegal immigrants.. . God bless America?
This is a private hospital city budget has nothing to do with this
@@remynyc149 Hospitals across the country are going broke due to treating hundreds of thousands of non paying migrants.
There isn't money for that. That is STEALING money from U.S. citizens.
@@remynyc149 then you don't know how medicaid works. Do some research

Keep allowing patients to get services with no insurance. All that does is take resources from good TAXPAYING NY Citizens.
That hospital is not a tax funded institution.😊
@@Doc5thMech I am sure they were treating many uninsured and not sure if city or state fully compensated them. Most probably pennies on the dollar
@@Doc5thMech I went to Harvard Medical School several decades ago. It operates from its SEC filing as a non-for-profit. However, it's affiliated with several medical training programs means it's being support through those training programs who receive funds from Medicare & other government agencies. Also, MSBI has a financial assistance program for the underserved - who have no insurance. Because of Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) requires hospitals with emergency departments to provide a medical screening examination to any individual who comes to the emergency department, MSBI does receive reimbursements & subrogation payments from other government programs & other health care insurances that are publicly funded with applicable. The frequency/volume of these situations happening to this non-for-profit hospital will make its funding tied to many different outlets, including endowments, grants, donations & more. Everyone was antisemitic until the hospital closes.

Since you started it, why was it necessary to Israelize its name in the first place. Agenda much?

And seriously, you think the hospital is closing because of what people think of the name? Hospitals close when they're not profitable, PERIOD.
St Vincents closeed many years ago...leaving the downtown vulnerable. This is terrible
Wow I graduated from their nursing school in 1975. What memories!
So the hospital is not profitable. They used a different term but saying due to financial reasons means they are not making enough to stay in business. Pretty plain. Since they are NOT a governmental agency where does the govt get off telling a private enterprise they cannot close??
Is the problem not profit profitable or not profitable ENOUGH for
@@stephenbrecht1696 They need "enough" profit to keep the hospital open, pay salaries, budget for staff raises so the staff won't quit, and to buy medical supplies and pay bills.
It's complex. BUT there are Federal (IRS, CMMS, SEC), State (Stats’s Attorney's Office) & local government requirements to be me by ALL non-for-profits as well as all Non-for-Profit Hospitals (NfPH). When a NfPH accepts their "granted" status as a NfPH, they also must meet strict Federal, State, & local governmental standards, rules, AND Obligations to the community they serve. It's not a get out of jail card to be a non-for-profit hospital or entity in general. The Feds, State, & local governments have a vested interested in these NfPH's operations because these governmental agencies are tasks with a vested interested in the citizens served by these facilities.
Mt Sinai was one of the only somewhat trustworthy hospitals in NY.
I worked at this hospital until 2017, when Mount Sinai took over they had every single intention from the moment they stepped in to close the hospital and they got exactly what they wanted. They’re selling it for real estate. Another great hospital closure like st Vincent’s, more real estate, more money for mount sinai. The health system does not care one bit about community impact it’s all money. Grateful to all the nurses and healthcare workers who committed themselves to the community especially during Covid. Prayers for them and their families and hope they can all find jobs and security. Now Sinai can open an urgent care! Great work!
What are they going to build? An empty office building or migrant shelters? Your vote counts!
Dont ever trust in that people with tiny hats, whatever they touch turns to shttt
Two sides to this coin. Building looks old and crumbling. Costs of just keeping that dumo operational have to off the chart. Medicare/medicaid reuimbirsemnt rates are atrocious. Once your balance of private to state insurance gets out of balance it gets tough.
The other side isnits for profit and these Healthcare systems will wildly over pay executives and drain a place dry for financial gain, run it into the ground amd then close it.
The mofos that we see protesting and saying human right should all donate 50 percent of their salaries monthly to keep this place open…
And pay their rents too! Living free is productive! This is not the sixties!
absolutely
It's a big assumption that they even work and have salaries to donate!
Salaries 😂
50% of nothing is still nothing.
My beloved doctor told me 40 years ago, this is the direction the country was headed.
Did he give you reasons why?
@@goldbrick2563 At the time he was instructing students at a local medical school, he stated the lowering of standards in order to enter college was was ruining the profession in America , the valedictorian at the recent graduation would not have been able to pass the entrance examination at Northwestern, in 1951. Most future doctors would be from foreign countries and socialized medicine will create an atmosphere that will close hospitals.
I was told the same thing many years ago by a school teacher, and her profession, too. Our Republic is falling apart, thanks to our Marxist indoctrination. Anyone who tries to stop it is demonized.
