  • Early each year, the town of Whittlesey (Whittlesea on the station's name board) in Cambridgeshire hosts a festival called Straw Bear which starts with a parade through the town of the people dressed AS the Straw Bears and all the Morris Dance sides who will perform that day in the streets. My video, taken from the crowd on 11th January 2014, gives an idea of the range of outfits of the various sides and the audience who gather to watch the parade and the dancing.

Cold day, but much improved by the warm of the whole event

Yes, it's always a great day, regardless of the weather. The village I live in (Sutton, near Ely) is meeting soon to put together a new dance side.
