    1902, 20 years after electricity became available, crazy stuff. Did trams run in the rain, many accidents or explosions, constant breakdowns?

      It happens again at 1:33 and I thought it was the same fella but on closer inspection the first bloke has a flat-cap and the second a bowler hat.

      Dublin castle

    • @pauldunneska
      @pauldunneska 5 років тому +2

      @ronan kirwan The three buildings filmed are 1. The Bank of Ireland (old British houses of parliament). 2.Trinity College.3. Westin Hotel with the tram at the end and the Thomas Moore statue the first statue in Dublin and obviously the oldest because it's still in Dublin. The statue of the horse at the start was blown up by Irish Republicans. Daniel O'Connell statue was erected in 1880 but Thomas Moore statue was erected in 1857 the first statue in Dublin.

      William of Orange on College Green, he was blown up but the statue wasn't destroyed by the bomb, it got placed in storage and then was seen no more. sad day for history but that's Republicanism for you. They would be happy to take Ireland back to the stone age in the name of republicanism!

    The cameraman (and I assume it was a man) has no interest in the people, only in the buildings.
    One of the buildings is the old House of Parliament known as 'Grattan's Parliament' in its latter years.
    Back then we had a United Ireland., for all its faults.

    • @pauldunneska

      United under British rule makes it British. United under Irish rule makes it Irish. Tiocfaidh ár lá 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪

      I addressed the issue of "United" not a political version of same.
      Ireland was a single unit though Grattan's Parliament was subservient to Westminster under the the VI of George I who got the throne on sectarian grounds.
      Yes, some day Tiochfaidh do Là but it will probably be a strange looking arrangement ie maybe ruled from Belfast.

    • @pauldunneska
      @pauldunneska 5 років тому +2

      @@dukadarodear2176 Well certainly not ruled by Belfast but Dublin overall but with it's own assembly like Stormont just under the overall command of Dublin or a federal type system.

    • @dukadarodear2176
      @dukadarodear2176 5 років тому +1

      Paul Dunne
      Possibly the 6 counties might remain as a unit but in the event of a majority there voting for a United Ireland it would be a meaningless unit - it's not even a full Province.
      It was gerrymandered to maintain a Unionist majority for the longest possible time.
      But they're the cards that are on the table now, like them or not.
      Different options were considered by the original Sinn Fèin before the treaty such as a rotating center of governance or a Swiss Style system based on the Provinces as with the Cantons there.
      It will all be down to the people of the day whenever An Là Sin arrives and not up to us right now.

    • @pauldunneska
      @pauldunneska 5 років тому +2

      @@dukadarodear2176 Well the Good Friday Agreement has its border referendum built into it and the day is very near when it will come into force and with demographic change with a Catholic majority and brexit looking like a no deal the predictions are that a majority will vote for a United Ireland in the occupied stolen six counties of Ulster and my prediction is a border referendum will be called in around 2024 and a United Ireland will be voted in favour of 55% to 60% in the occupied stolen six counties of Ulster and around 80% in the Irish Republic. Another thing is they will have worked out before the border referendum what will be in a United Ireland so people will know exactly what that entails not like brexit which people didn't know what that entails.
