- Iris discovers one day that her hair has become short. Talia and Auriana explain that it is because she is going through Shanila, a coming-of-age phase in an Ephedian's life where she has attained a new level of power. However, until she reaches the next level in her abilities, her magic is weak. In order to continue training, Iris turns down a trip to the slide park with Nathaniel, although Auriana volunteers to go. Praxina and Mephisto cause trouble at the park to lure the weakened Iris out.

Edit: OK after much consideration, maybe hair extensions would have been better. While dancing the extensions don't fall off, unlike wigs. Or she could have told Nathaniel and others that she was trying a new haircut, it is not that big of a deal. Everyone tries a new haircut once in a while

Auriana: I know, except my head didn’t feel all that light cause I put so many cute ornaments in my hair.
Iris: Guys! I need my regular hair back! We have a concert this weekend. How long is this gonna last?
Talia: Not long. Just until you’ve reached the next stage of magical development.
Iris: When is that going to happen?
Talia: Right now, you’re weaker. But soon, you can begin training. And once you’ve passed Shanila, your hair will grow back almost instantly.
Auriana: And it’ll be super thick and shiny. You won’t have to condition it for weeks! For now, just enjoy it.

That would be the one thing I admire most about this show. The story concept of an ordinary young person, with a possession of something that'd be unnatural. A special someone who is soon told about their lesser-known real origin, and where they truly come from. (A royalty kind of origin) And how they embark on a wondrous quest to save their kingdom from an evil tyrant.
