Very good insight into the bush war. I would like to correct one thing and that is that the British did not have any success against the Boer guerillas during the Anglo Boer war. The times they did win battles was when the Boers tried to fight a conventional war against the British. The British were on the point of giving up when Lord Kitchener came up with his scorched earth policy. By burning down all Boer farms, killing all the cattle and then shipping the woman and children off to concentration camps they broke the Boers spirit. The British won the Boer War using concentration camps and blockhouse quadrilles and large numbers. The Malay Emergency I would argue was the most successful counter insurgency. Rhodesia had excellent counterterrorism/ search and destroy ops but they failed to win over the population or separate them from the enemy.
ZIPRA actually does have air support, they have one or two MIG-17s stored in Zambia but never utilised it in combat operations. ZIPRA have a much more conventional warfare doctrine unlike ZANLA, initially if it wasn't for the Lancaster House Agreement, ZIPRA would've launch a full scale military invasion in to Rhodesia.

So if the british war machine was so fenominal how come they lost battles considering they had rifles, canons, etc. The boers were armed with Mausers only. Very few canons and the british could not overwhelm them & thats why the despicable cowards started to burn crops and houses. A 10 to 1 ratio. Hardly a proud achievement when 10 school yard bullies try to beat a single boy on a play ground and when they can not really succeed in getting him to submit, they target his baby sister. Today it is considered one of the biggest atrocities of the British Empire.

@@TimSerras colarated and training, because at the time very few Armies in the world had the Expertise and Experience how to counter Guerrilla Warfare in big scale like the Portuguese Army, specialy the Special Forces Regiment ( Comandos).
After the war and the independence of the African Colonies many Portuguese soldiers/ officers ( special forces) did help Rhodesia but specialy South Africa.
They were behind the Infamous 32 Battalion Buffalo who was very successfull fighting the MPLA and the Cubans in Angola. Many died in 1987 during the great Battle of Cuito Cuanavale.
The Portuguese knew the "Terrain" better than any other formal Army.
The British committed genocide against the Boer nation. When they saw they were losing they burnt down all the farms and placed all woman and children in concentration camps where thousands perished. Thus forcing the Boer fighters to surrender. Very noble.
God bless the British soldiers, lions and true warriors. Boers.....meh not so much. Don't forget Ian Smith was of British stock
Let us rather not tread that route.......😬

Of course you should. In Europe.

We need to learn to be solidaric with each other without empires. Mother Europe is enough for her children.
@@HerrAndreasSkog evolution bs does not sway my mind. We Europeans come from the Levant - we ARE the Hebrews, the many specific nations promised to Avraham. Rightfully we can lay claim to all the lands around the Mediterranean as far as Siberia and from S Africa all the way up to Lake Victoria - for our people had a Colony there thousands of years before even the start of the Bantu migrations. Look around Europe - you will find the names of the Patriarchs of our Hebrew people everywhere.

I am ashamed our Country let Rhodesia down.
Rhodesian war was not about race. It was about Communism vs Freedom.

The British actually lost battles against the Zulu. Their first invasion they lost. Second invasion the British lost many battles -the only reason they "won" due to the concentration camps where they kept children and women were 1000's died. They also had a scourged land approach going. Personally I have no respect for the British Empire or its war machine.
I said Boer War, not the Zulu war. But it's all good. Honest mistake
@@GhettoGunslinger sure. Just one last drop 🙃 The Brits decided to attack the Boer provinces coming from Natal side which was zulu kingdom. Hence their initial battles were with the Zulu and it did not go well for them. After tbey said their peae the Brits armed, trai ed and uniformed zulu's to help them. One of these groups actual.y eliminated a small Boere commando. Be that as it may lets leave it there 👍. I am however curious - with how many countries did the British wage war and number of people killed. ....if ever you get some indication please let me know. God bless,
@@GhettoGunslingerside
no problem .....i'm with you. The british came from the eastern side and had to go through the area which was then the Republic of Natalia.....now known as Kwazulu Natal. Zulu territory to get to the two boer republics hence their battles with the zulu's. Why I mentioned this - the zulus fought with spears and shields only. So if the british war machine was so fenominal how come they lost battles considering they had rifles, canons, etc. The boers were armed with Mausers only. Very few canons and the british could not overwhelm them & thats why the despicable cowards started to burn crops and houses. With the excuse that was a humanitarian crises they " kindly"offered to house the woman and children in concentration camps +- a 140 if memory serves me right. The people starved, died disease, went through the winter with no warm clothing.
@@ToastSoon4808Add to that that the British forces peaked at over 400000 well equipped men, where as the boers peaked at approximately 40000, who had to provide their own equipment and clothing, except for the Mauser and a few canons (of which some were home made). A 10 to 1 ratio. Hardly a proud achievement when 10 school yard bullies try to beat a single boy on a play ground and when they can not really succeed in getting him to submit, they target his baby sister. Today it is considered one of the biggest atrocities of the British Empire.
The same percentage of British soldiers died of desise and malnutrition as Boer civvies in the camps

The Terrs were not "Communists". They were African Nationalists who could only get weaponry in quantity from mostly Communist states. At the time it was useful for Rhodesia to play on Cold War rhetoric about "Communists" because it garnered some sympathy in the West, but the reality is that it was all about land and opportunity..
If they were not communist orientated why are they today still exhibit communist ideologies? That they started out as so called nationalists is somewhat true, but very soon, under communist influences changed their nationalist ideologies on freedom and land reformation, to communist ideologies.
Mugabe led Zanla, he was a communist!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah right! That's why even up to today they still call each other "comrade"! I wonder why they adopted a communist styled government after "independence"?
Why have commie styled flags?
