Your "Zen always has his back against the wall" thesis statement really resonated with me. He is the ONLY hero with no movement, self sustain, or CC ability to help him in a fight. He only ever has ONE option, kill. That simplicity of purpose makes him very appealing and scary. You know when you pick Zen you're choosing to fight every fight.
Discord orb is kinda helping him in a fight cuz it is damage boost to himself too. His kick is boops so yeah, if u fighting a bap or something, just kick then left click then kick then left click… continue until he dies, it is annoying to him but funny to you

Another tip: discord an enemy that's diving you-- you can track them thru walls/around corners for a couple seconds. Use those wallhacks to time your right click and frag out

A master zen, like hes clearly designed to be, is supposed to be like the old master. Moving slow with no wasted movement, steady and without fear because he knows he can put the marks where they count before you can exhale.
When you have movement abilities to escape a fight, you're just throwing away the advantage of being at a disadvantage. A disadvantage can help a Zen fight better. It's a Zen's guts and pride that drive his fists to victory.
The only advantage of a disadvantage is fighting against the odds and being an underdog, therefore it is the opponents fight to lose. But there is clearly a preference for an advantage as it is, well, advantageous. So I would prefer mobility to get to those advantageous positions.
I feel this, I love how zen has little mobility, less escape options makes you "weak" or an easy target, but it also means you are forced to be better than those that would win against you so therefore I hope zen never changes because if people complain about zen and a buff happens then a nerf it just won't be zen. plus, I feel like every person who mains zen likes the challenge and reward when you kill the sombra flanking you or stay on payload and get a teamkill against all odds. Personally, zen is perfect the way he is, and I wouldn't want him any other way even his mobility.
About the last part about character writing , zen is a in another level that is true but kiriko is probably not the worst dialogue, soujorn is probably the worst one she just a souless character not only in gameplay but with the interactions and lore the best interaction of her is soldier 76 saying " thats what you get for testifying agaisnt overwatch" when he kills her she literally feels like a characther that doesnt belong on this game.

My main issue with zen is that, to get value, you need a (moderately) smart team. Your other support needs to heal a lot and your dps need to focus the discord orb

Ive started playing Zen more now as a support and as a typically aggressive player, playing Zen helps me balance that Aggressive playstyle with patience. I actually average about 20-25 kills and 0-4 deaths each game. He’s super strong as long as you play focused but relaxed and get out when you realize the fight is lost. Play the long game strategy.
My favorite thing as zen is one bursting bad widows with his right click. One bursting is the most satisfying thing in the game because of the crunch of the headshots.

I really like to play zen he is just so fun to play for me. I kinda gravitated to zen when I first started playing and his personality just sealed the deal for me. I just sometimes play him just to get some stress out since he can be so fun to play. There are still aspects of him I need to work on growth is part of adventure. He may not be my primary support main but that might change.
I think people will grow to see him as more of a threat as the meta develops. I've already heard people talk about nerfing discord (bruh) so it's only a matter of time.
Back when i still played overwatch, Zen was always my main just because i found it impossible to get too upset while playing him. Id die,respawn and hed say something like 'another chance to learn from our mistakes' and id be like 'you right'
Charge should only really be used when you’re poking from cover or when a tank/dps is diving you and you’re able to take cover, the second they walk around the corner you just shit on them. Trans is a good ult that you should use as insurance to be slightly more aggressive or to save a teammate in an important fight.

As a zen main, I loved this video, and while he definitely isn’t the best support right now, you did a great job calling out my boys strengths as an all around killer, from knocking out flanking dps too snipping supports in the back line and chipping damage, he’s genuinely fun as hell, and transcendence is one of my favorite ultes in game but it’s definitely weaker unless you keep in mind enemy cooldowns
9:32 I only started playing OW2 recently, and my experience is entirely different. Whenever I transcendence, I am doing it to stop the enemy teams ultimate from killing everyone (the best feeling in the game is when you stop someone else's ult honestly, doing it to help my team make good plays (i.e. my Orisa is trying to push up to take space and push the enemy team back I might transcendence to allow her to push up even further), or selfishly to save myself (only in quickplay lol).
I love playing long range with his charge shot. You get picks like no tomorrow with it. Zen just needs mobility like literally all he needs is widow grapple and he will be amazing.
The whole point of Zenyatta is sacrificing every ounce of mobility/survivability a support could get in exchange of raw damage. Kiriko is meta because she can do everything, now imagine that with Zen and his Discord Orb, surely this won't result in an unfun meta.
If you're shooting you can keep changing orbs around with no interruption; however both the right-click charge and as you're shooting the charged up balls you can't recast orbs
You should only use charge volley when you're being chased around corner and you know that when the enemy turn the corner and you already get 3 orbs ready
As long as i have at least one teammate really looking out for my safety, I find I'm always getting top team damage and elims as Zenyatta, with fairly good healing too.
I’m a zen and bap main, volly is used for hiding behind the play load if ur damaged so u can heal a little and popping from cover to kill a squishy or a low health tank.
I have clutched team fights for my team as Zen before because sometimes the enemy will underestimate Zen. Never disregard a Zen. He may be squishy, but he will absolutely wreck your team. Wish we had more versatile healers like him

I think what makes zen fair...Is that everytime you get dived or into a fight...You dont have a option to disengage you have to win to survive...And he takes skill to aim and hit shots...the best he can do is kick and apply discord orb...hopefully scaring the enemy away....Theyll probably just push back in again...So yesh he feels skillful and rewarding to play on
Combo transcendence with Kiriko's ult and you basically have an invincible unstoppable team push, even if Junker Queen or Ana antis your team, Kiriko can just nope those antis
I pick Zen in qp whenever my team's composition is complete ass and I think we're probably going to get wrecked. I thought it would translate to Zen having one of my worst winrates but he's actually my third highest at 64%. Dude's crazy good if you can position well. I know the quality of qp matches suck but there's been games where I was absolutely certain we would lose that ended up as wins if I picked or swapped to Zen.

As a 4.4 sup and 4.3 zen only player I agree that zen is the most powerful support because he has no options than ti fight. Its the playstyle that differs (with ppl than know what they are doing). I synergize with your distain towards the right click. All the tips videos I watch for Zen always say "You'll mostly be using his right click..." Um, no, I use his primary more because it has more DPS and is much more consistent. I only use his secondary on a stationary target like a widow or smthn, you know, something I'm sure I can hit pretty well.

As a devoted main zen, here are my tips: 1- always right click till fully charge, then throw whenever you think someone may come, the more you understand the game, the more chance you'll get sudden kills that'll shock your enemies and scare the f*ck out of them 2- sometimes as a veteran zen, I'd go too close to enemies to finish them up fast, unleash your fully charged volley which will instantly connect to enemy + kick, you'll literally delete most characters 3- try playing left click as you'll play mccree, every click is an individual well aimed shot, unless when you're spamming, just hold in this case 4- try playing with environment, it's your best friend, if you can't get that good of mobility, neither have an ally to save you, it'll be your best friend 5- zen is crazy against: rodhog, rein, even dva! You can be so fcking scary to them when landing many shots Zen can delete most heroes, even his counters, but need to learn first how to counter them, if can't just switch
8:20 this is what I hate about OW2 balancing, its too counter intutive that it feels like you can't play your favortie hero. I believe Zenyatta should have one utility ability that comes at the cost of his damage supporting, his ult should give movement speed if the healing isn't doing anything so it still has value. Junker queen and Ana's gerande should only be max 75% anti-heal as this encourges healers to actually still heal, sure it may not be much but its still something heck zenyatta's ult would still matter as how fast it heals would outway the amount lost.

I think what makes zen fair...Is that everytime you get dived or into a fight...You dont have a option to disengage you have to win to survive...And he takes skill to aim and hit shots...the best he can do is kick and apply discord orb...hopefully scaring the enemy away....Theyll probably just push back in again...So yesh he feels skillful and rewarding to play on

Combo transcendence with Kiriko's ult and you basically have an invincible unstoppable team push, even if Junker Queen or Ana antis your team, Kiriko can just nope those antis
I pick Zen in qp whenever my team's composition is complete ass and I think we're probably going to get wrecked. I thought it would translate to Zen having one of my worst winrates but he's actually my third highest at 64%. Dude's crazy good if you can position well. I know the quality of qp matches suck but there's been games where I was absolutely certain we would lose that ended up as wins if I picked or swapped to Zen.

As a 4.4 sup and 4.3 zen only player I agree that zen is the most powerful support because he has no options than ti fight. Its the playstyle that differs (with ppl than know what they are doing). Combined with a powerful kit and a game winning ult he is just op.

I synergize with your distain towards the right click. All the tips videos I watch for Zen always say "You'll mostly be using his right click..." Um, no, I use his primary more because it has more DPS and is much more consistent. I only use his secondary on a stationary target like a widow or smthn, you know, something I'm sure I can hit pretty well.

As a devoted main zen, here are my tips:
1- always right click till fully charge, then throw whenever you think someone may come, the more you understand the game, the more chance you'll get sudden kills that'll shock your enemies and scare the f*ck out of them
2- sometimes as a veteran zen, I'd go too close to enemies to finish them up fast, unleash your fully charged volley which will instantly connect to enemy + kick, you'll literally delete most characters
3- try playing left click as you'll play mccree, every click is an individual well aimed shot, unless when you're spamming, just hold in this case
4- try playing with environment, it's your best friend, if you can't get that good of mobility, neither have an ally to save you, it'll be your best friend
5- zen is crazy against: rodhog, rein, even dva!

8:20 this is what I hate about OW2 balancing, its too counter intutive that it feels like you can't play your favortie hero.
I believe Zenyatta should have one utility ability that comes at the cost of his damage supporting, his ult should give movement speed if the healing isn't doing anything so it still has value.
Junker queen and Ana's gerande should only be max 75% anti-heal as this encourges healers to actually still heal, sure it may not be much but its still something heck zenyatta's ult would still matter as how fast it heals would outway the amount lost.
