This time I was much more pleased with a dice tower review, ehehhe That's life! Not only because it's an excellent review but because you highlighted very well all aspects of the game. Just to mention one detail... when we refill the wheel (yellow zone), we do it without following the distribution marker, the player can choose any 1 of the 4 available pieces. Thank you very much for your work analyzing the game. I'll share it on FB.
Kanban was my favorite Lacerda game for a long time, but it dropped for me because I could never get it played with other people (even with my wife at 2P, and she enjoys it too!). I looked past this one when it was on crowdfunding, but this review put it squarely in my crosshairs. Can't wait to give it a try!
I have enjoyed this game so much the last month or so... I really do agree with you all on this , 4 player is pretty hectic - fun, but a different game than lower counts. bIt really sings at 2 and 3 But also SOLO is well thought out and really enjoyable as well, and has become one of my go to solo games.
@@henribcosta Thanks very much, they called them command tokens at a couple points during the overview, left me a little confused. cheers for the clarification.
Purchased a few weeks ago. Yet to play. I’ve asked multiple people-no answer yet. Any idea I’d the thematic purpose of the speech bubbles as a payment? Thanks!😊
My issue and one I wish DT would cover more often is the actual $ value. Eagle-Gryphon is selling this for 63.99 plus tax and $9 shipping US: $72.99 in a sales tax free US state. This game intrigues me, but at that cost, I just don't see the value here.
I disagree, because it’s so subjective. It also can vary by country and continent. Moreover, some players are fine playing a game a couple of times before moving on, while value for someone else would be wanting more plays. If you can’t figure out if a game is worth buying, then the answer is no, for you. $0.02
@@Andrew.Griffin Although true that value to an individual is subjective, the actual cost of the product is objective. Just because a game is good does not mean it is expensive (most folks wouldn't pay $40 for a copy of "The Crew" for instance). This game is priced similarly to the MSRP of Viticulture (which can be had for far less). It looks like a nice production, but at a glance, but my ignorant guess would be that viticulture costs much more to produce.
You must really hate the other laserta games they are all twice the price with not many more components. This is one of the few games that i would pay this amount for the only other one is pax pamir but I wont touch any of coles other games especially arcs where he has gone full corporate and is trying to extract as much money from people with as little content as possible.
I don’t see the value in spending time on that. One can just look the price up. Unless you want some kind of “entertainment per price” ratio and I don’t know how someone would compute that…
@@ArnieHorta they've touched on it before, specifically when "Planted" was on sale at Target for $20. I realize that value to an individual varies, but this game is notably more expensive than other games of similar production quality, weight, playtime, replayability, etc. (At least that's my perception). I believe it's only sold through the publisher's online store as well, so alternative purchasing options are limited. (I think this is where my biggest gripe is and is at the root of my initial comment🫤)
I like the idea of Mercado de Lisboa rather than this for the exact reasons you mentioned: it doesn’t feel like the game/it’s not a simplified version of the game. I like it as a quick abstract using one cool mechanic from the original game
I like what this is doing, but I have Kanban EV, and I worry if I got this, it would be too similar to Kanban, and might never take out Kanban and instead play this. Is that a reason to not buy a game? It might get to the table more than a more complicated game? :)
Seems to be very Vital Lacerda. I've learned from experience that his games are very heavy, which means you need a good group to play with or it will be one of the slowest and most frustrating games you can play. I'm not sure it will be on my list of games that I want to add to my collection.
But this is not a heavy game, it's a medium-weight game. If Lacerda is not for you, due to how hard his games are, this is the chance to try this great designer with a very accessible game.
@@thomgizziz I did listen to the video and it is clearly not as complex as Weather Machine. However, that doesn't change the fact that it is still a Vital Lacerda game, and that comes with a number of features I've found cause some players to suffer from extreme levels of analysis paralysis. And that is what I indicated in my post. I did not say the game was not easy to play/teach. What I said was that in my experience Vital Lacerda games tended to end up slow playing and frustrating to get through. And that Bot Company's description was not dynamic enough to convince me that it would be worth the risk. I already have enough games that are difficult/impossible to table due to the nature of my regular gaming group. I don't need more.
@@Max-pj9km That is a fair statement. The funny thing is that Lacerda games are not too heavy for me. Once I've read the rules I usually am fine. But I'm not a great game teacher, and many of the people I play with are prone to suffering from analysis paralysis, which means heavy games are not something I can bring out. With that being the case, Bot Company is not a game that would find great success as part of my collection. It would be another shelf queen, and I have too many of those already.
Glad people are liking this, but I feel like Lacerda games seem to get lumped altogether as the same weight unfairly. Kanban is an easy teach already even if the strategy makes you think. If this is medium weight, Kanban is just a bit higher as medium-heavy. Compare this to Weather Machine and it's a whole other world, but this seems to have so much overlap that for my tastes I'd just prefer to play the full experience.

I’m sad the robot Mike used to rank his Top 10 Robot Games was not a part of this review.
To use the tcg term , the executive actions let you play on curve . Which is important in longer term strategies.

Are speech bubbles and command tokens the same thing? They look a similar shape.....is there something on the token to differentiate them?
There's only speech bubbles :P
@@henribcosta Thanks very much, they called them command tokens at a couple points during the overview, left me a little confused. cheers for the clarification.
You all have confirmed my feeling about getting this game. Add it to the list....
Hey Chris, when you said a string of 1s and 0s, were you going for a reference to The Body Electric by Rush?
Golden Knights, nice!! Great review.

Well, if you want to have task done in any industry, you have to communicate it to your team.
I guess that is the thematic "purpose".
I think you're giving instructions to do something.
@@dingodan8757 makes complete sense.
Thanks!
In Kanban EV you use them in the “meeting phase” to respond to people’s presentations or pitches (not sure)
I was looking forward for this review. Looking forward to get it.

This game is pretty easy to teach and play. Did you not listen to the video at all and just made a bunch of incorrect assumptions?
