M4 is my favorite addition to the podcast. I’ve been listening to Joe for almost a decade and I love them adding a woman’s voice. I wish the guys would be kinder to her but I admire how she handles it and let’s the jokes roll off her back.
I’m a longtime JBP listener and I never thought the show could be shifted into a new era, but Joe did it!!! Adding Melyssa was necessary. I love hearing her opinions. I hope she doesn’t continue to hold back because her perspective matters
I agree, adding her to the cast was a great decision. Side note regarding the jokes, for men that's our way of letting you know I rock with you. If it's malicious or we're completely straight up and down with you, we don't really want you in the space and you're just being tolerated.
@@Sheabuttahbaby Yes she did. I enjoyed her on the show too. I think it was just too much going on in Melyssa's life at the time. I really hope it comes back soon!
she has not "reinvented herself." She failed at real estate. She failed at trying to leverage being a video chick to an actress. She is changing the narrative of her relationship, especially the high profile ones where she was dumped (ex. flo rida). She is not the female role model from the 90s. How about Queen Latifah who has created a film and tv empire, leg3endary recording career, philanthropist, and Emmy and Oscar nominated actress.

When I was a young boy I watched an NRL (Rugby player) speak about a herb that helped him recover from a brain injury. This was in the 1980's. The herb is brahmi aka bacopa monnieri. Many times, biracial men and women have different experiences because beauty politics come into play. A “biracial aesthetic” is celebrated in the United States for women more so than it is for men, so mixed women can run into friction in black communities where black women feel past over time and time again for the “mixed girl”. - However, I don’t think Melissa Ford’s beauty is due to her looking mixed. She’s just real fine. I’m just saying, there’s a lot of layers to unpack with that conversation. Also, Black people in America have been effed over so many times that we need to know if you’re truly with us, or just cosplaying blackness when it benefits your image/bank account and then undermining us when we’re not around.

Black people can have two Black parents and look more “mixed” than Melissa Ford. Most people would never question her racial makeup if she didn’t speak about it. She is an attractive woman but she’s not phenotypically similar to Drake or Whitney Alford, who has two Black parents. That conversation was a bit odd.
It was & it irked me. Felt offensive. To be here all of this time & still not understand the community that bc of she could become who she is today. I didn'tike it.
Yeah. I never knew she was mixed until it came up on the Joe Budden Podcast. She isn't even that light skinned. I have cousins that are 2/3 shades lighter with both parents black. Also I'm brown skin and both my parents are Chris Brown's complexion. My Grandmother is a dark brown though. I'm just a tinge lighter than her. Black people come in so many shades for so many reasons. Plus Mel has black features. I wonder if her mom was Italian.
@dianeross4522 Yeah, I was actually surprised to find out she was biracial. Her dad just has really strong genetics because her mom was Norwegian and Russian.

💯 I have two black parents and Melissa ford presents blacker than me! I found out she was mixed from a preview of this podcast. She doesn’t present like Mariah Carey and Zendaya.
I hate that people still hold on to that alpha and beta stuff that has been debunked by the very person who coined the phrases. But here we are... still. Also, I'm glad she responded quickly with her father issues and I hope others who think the same recognize it may also me a childhood/father issue that they should talk to a therapist about too.
its always interesting listening to people talk about their role models or just the overall model of womanhood... i rarely hear ANYONE name someone outside of entertainment. why is that? as a kid, the women i grew up around were AMAZING like beautiful, smart AF, elegant, some VERY FKN funny... like people on tv were additions. Are our young girls really that starved for representation?

You’re so right! I never thought she was mixed, and never heard anyone else say she was mixed.she has a black nose, black lips, black hair, black body. Her voice is black as well, she just sounds educated.
💯 I have two black parents and Melissa ford presents blacker than me! I found out she was mixed from a preview of this podcast. She doesn’t present like Mariah Carey and Zendaya.
I ❤this interview
Mel seems sad but grounded and strong
I love this woman
Great interview
All the men on the JBP are active fathers and vocal about it on the show

KENDRICK'S WIFE ISN'T MIXED!
@melyssaford great interview and I love you on JBP!!
Great convo!
BIG MEL!!!!!!!! Hootie Hooooooo
Here for Big Mel 🫶🏽
Great interview! I really appreciate getting to know more about Melissa and loved her authenticity! I used to watch her show on Bravo. I look forward to the podcast!
