At 81 years of age, I strongly agree with that. Maintaining a good work. Life balance is important and something to be focused on.

Our children are grown now, boy and girl twins (57) and younger daughter (55). We were so active with them, football, basketball, track. In our late 50's our daughter moved back with us and her 6 year old daughter. She was a swert little girl and we went through her grade school and high school years and on to college. She played a lot of basketball through those years and we traveled all over for games, in choir and plays. We always took the kids on vacations and weekend outings and did the same with her. I loved those years and miss them a lot. Never regret the time you spend with them.
Anna, sounds like you are a really busy normal Mom. Believe me, enjoy every moment you get to spend with your girls, we lost our beautiful 37 year old daughter in 2015, the moments I spent with her growing up and as a grown woman with children of her own was not enough. A blood clot took her away from us in just a bleak of an eye, I spent the last week with my husband in the hospital with blood clots in both lungs and his legs, time is so precious. He is doing well now even though he still has the clots but with medicine hopefully they will dissolve on their own. Blessing to you and Phillip, oh by the way Phillip did a great job on the bushes. What fun day off from school the girls had. These are memories that will last a lifetime. Ziggy doesn’t look sorry at all 😂😂😂😂😂Phillip’s sense of humor always cracks me up. Nice job on the landscape 😍😘
I love Honfleur in winter. It is not quite so overrun with tourists then. Marketdays are allways special. I remember years back on our local market in Pont Audemer I overheard a seller saying in a joking voice to his clients: "You will see! The english will come! And they will buy all our chateaux and houses. And they will be followed by the germans!" I turned around and answered with my slight german mixed with scottish accent: "Well Monsieur, you are "hors tard" they are already here. Everybody laughed heartily at my reposte. But honestly, this is what I love about Normanday and their inhabitants. They are very family orientated, but very open when you make the effort to get to know them. I lived here for over 30 years now, did the same school-, riding lessons-, dance runs, that you did Anna. The kids grew up speaking 3 languages fluently. And ... we never finished renovating. In these old houses there is always always something to do. But we are so blessed.
Words well spoken Anna. I am a 73 year old grandmother and motherhood was the best job I ever had! Enjoy them!

I agree, Anna, it’s a special privilege to spend time with one’s children. Mine are grown ups now, but they often reflect on the time we had together, as I worked half days while they were at school.
when I was raising my kids I realized that childhood was 980 weekends. It changed my perspective on how important work was.

I miss the years of the presence of our girls in the home. I remember complaining about the noise & mess. One day it dawned on me that one day we would have a quiet tidy house but no girls. It was a good reminder to be thankful for their presence & all that came with them ❤ I miss those days but I am thoroughly enjoying the grandchildren!!

I agree. My Westie once managed to find some manure the same day she'd been to the dog groomer. So pleased with herself. Not so much when she got a second shower once we returned home. Us hoomans, tut tut, we just don't understand.

It's amazing that geniuses are so good at not just one thing, but are often genius at multiple things. A genius also just seems to grasp highly complex, clandestine and complicated theoretical concepts, like making oats, so easily. I just SO admire geniuses...

Anna, treasure these days with your daughters. It goes so fast. My daughter is now 25 with a child of her own & she loved the days we spent at horseback riding, traveling, piano, etc. these are the memories they will thank you for. Phillipp makes me laugh and I love Ziggy. You have a sweet family!
Anna, the last things you had to say today are so true! My “children” are now 27 and 30. I was a stay at home mom and don’t regret any of the moments I was privileged to spend with them. You will ALWAYS be thankful for these times.
Your girls will surely want to spend time with you when they are teenagers . Mine did….and they’re in their twenties now and we adore each other’s company…travelling together, cooking, hiking….

Your sentiments about spending time with your children....spot on! I had my children when i was 19 and 21, they are now in the 40s. I wish I'd had the insight and the wisdom to realize that before it was too late. The do grow up far too quickly. Phillip, you're hilarious!

I loved this! Spending time in your beautiful grounds, (watching Phillip shave his balls), and seeing your lovely coastal village is so refreshing. But the best part is seeing two sweet and lucky girls, engaged in fabulous activities; and having a great day out with their amazing Mum.
Anna enjoy motherhood, they won’t be little for much longer. Exhausting but so rewarding as well.
As a parent, I would be so happy with a 4 day school week. Time with my kids and the ability to wake up and not have to rush would do wonders for my attitude!

If you put a tarp down before you trim most of the branches and cuttings will land on the tarp and thus it’s a quick clean up vs picking everything up all the time. Yard is looking swell!

I remember the days of running my 3 daughters after school to dance, piano lessons, various sports. Busy times, but now 2 of my daughters are doing that for their children. Time flies so quickly, but I am proud of my daughters and their efforts at raising their children & working full time. You are both wonderful and loving parents.

You are right - those days when your children are young are numbered. Work will be there, but you’ll never get those days back. I enjoyed the glimpses of Honfleur. We spent several days there last year - it’s a lovely town. I enjoy Philip’s sense of humor, too.

You are right about time spent with your children. I brought up my daughter on my own and honestly I remember almost nothing of all the years she was at school Her whole childhood and I dont really remember any of it at all.
She is almost 30 now and often says"Remember when?...." and I honestly dont, but when I say "Remember when?.." to my own mother, about my own vividly remembered childhood, she doesnt remember either, so I applaud the way you get mandated to spend Kid-time mid-week in France, giving you a chance to build memories together
I have two girls just a bit older than yours and we homeschool. Our life has become so peaceful and content since we started a few years ago. We are pretty active but we take a lot of down time too, always trying to strike a balance for everyone’s sake. I treasure every moment as before you know it, they’re gone. Love your incredible hard work, creativity and the beauty you both have added to this world. 😊
Good words on work/life balance and how fleeting childhood years really are. Also really great to see you're kids spending the day being physically active in ways they enjoy, healthy habits start early! And I have to say it's nice to see at least one Chatelaine include equestrian sports in their weekly routine. I don't know if you have the acorage to keep horses and ride your property as some chatelaines who don't ride, but you're girls will one day inherit your spectacular house and it's a lovely, healthy outdoor sport that opens doors to have been blessed with, and perfect for any country living. They looked like they really enjoy these Wednesdays, and they're every bit as important as a day in school, for their future. Poor Ziggy looked SO humiliated in the shower, hahaha, that face omg! 😂😭💖

I would give just ANYTHING to return to early days with my children. I thought those days were busy and exhausting, but with the kids grown and gone now, I miss each of them terribly. The days are too long and too lonely. The time we have with our precious young children, is far too short.
The girls are amazing on horses for their ages. So fearless!
Enjoy every moment you have with your children. You will not regret it. When they are gone (before you) you cannot get that time back. Enjoy it and love it because they will love you :) 😊❤

My husband is a landscape architect and he has done a lot of trimming some by hand and others with hedge trimmer. Some are done twice a year and some skip a year depending on their growth .like the lilac bushes etc Evergreen bushes will be shaped by hand as well as roses. But i think you are able to discover a World of gardening on UA-cam ...🌲🌳🌹

You are so right Ana, enjoy your girls! It’s good for them and for you! I am a grandmother of the age of 79 and certainly made mistakes in my life, but the staying home was the best thing to do for my boys. Later I did the same with my grandchildren and took all my time for them. We have a great bond what is lovely and a good feeling. Thank you and Phillip so much for the episodes, I love it very much and can’t wait for the Sunday afternoons to see the new chapter.

So nice of you all to do a quick clean up at the beach. I remember when we lived in Germany, stationed there, and my son and my husband went on a boy scouts trip to Normandy beaches for a massive clean up. The boys actually enjoyed it. We went as a family, but camped out as well.

Now I am a grandmother of 3 and I am blessed to live near all of them and their dogs and attend their concerts and other events . I’m so happy you live near the sea we do as well and it’s a big part of our family life. Ziggy certainly enjoys it! Such a wonderful thing to teach your girls about keeping trash off our beaches . So busy I'm 80 years old but do remember taking my 4 children to various activities. Iovehearing Ella's name my Mum was called Helen but was always called Ella. We have 4 family girls with Ella in there names.
Anna and Philipp, very much enjoyed the day trip in Honfleur with the girls and Zig. Very nice you to see them with you out and about on the beach, cleaning up waste, and shopping for lunch in the scenic market place.
