An incredible lady with fortitude, endurance, compassion, & self-effacement. This woman is worth one hundred of her modern contemporaries - you have my undying respect & admiration, Betty.
So glad I found your gem of a site with all the wonderful people who lived through WW11. I do like films and books of this era and so much admire these people. I had an older friend who worked in London during the Blitz and she used to sit under the stairs with her dog on ground floor in the apartment block where she lived to keep safe with all the bombing going on. Thank you and this generation are so special.
I’m so glad these lovely folks are telling their wartime experiences. As she said it’s an unrepeatable experience. No whining no complaining ….just doing what had to be done.
I get cold shivers when listening to interviews like this. The books that have been published on the woman at Bletchley and the coding are fascinating. There is a wonderful dvd series called Bletchley Circle. Brilliant.
I was born across the road from and bought up within a stones throw of Bletchley Park. I used to go sketching in the park because the trees were unpruned and natural looking. Ate my lunch by the pond.
Watching these stories brings back many stories my grandparents and my parents told me about the lives during the war how things have changed and not all for the better.
Watch.... PBS.... "Half the Sky": "FET"... ( In Part II). And, "Meet John Doe" (Gary Cooper, Barbara Stanwick...).. A system that mixes those possibilities, as our secondary manual backup system.

Well you don't know that for sure. They may have been sent to a women's prison for a considerable amount of time. It all depends on what they had discussed and where. I don't think that they were just told off and sacked. There would definitely have been some punishment involved.
My mum who died in feb 2023 , was also at Bletchley Park , never knew what she did , she never talked about it .
The clarity and delicacy of this womans mind demonstrated by her careful recollection is testament to her undoubted contribution.
I got the goosebumps when she revealed what she was actually working on. That was intense.

She is truly a beautiful person. Thank you for your invaluable service Madam.
Thank you for all the work and sacrifices you all endured, not only for England but the world.

Wonderful memories are shared by this fine woman and she has a delightful sense of humor as well.
They were such good people; we owe our lives to their willingness to carry out their "boring duties" in complete secrecy.
Amazing lady amazing story!

It is a standard practice in the UK for public servants and military personnel to automatically sign the Official Secrets Act on engagement.
I knew a lady who worked at Bletchley Park. Just like this Lady, self effacing and very intelligent.
Thank for this great upload. So many lives saved by the brilliant work done at Bletchley Park.

What about the involvement of Polish codebreakers in this effort? Is it not the first model of enigma received from Polish Army?

There's always dramas. We face a new one. The women who got kicked out reproduced.
