Haha, yeah, for special occasions I always wore braids because otherwise my hair would have looked too messy. On normal days, I wore it in a pineapple. Not too bad, BUT no matter what look, every hair styling done by my mom (or later by myself) started with brushing my dry 3a/3b curls with a normal brush (!!), so you can imagine how my 'pineapple' looked like... more like a nuclear explosion than a pineapple tbh... Thank God those days are over 😂

Can you do a video all about deep conditioning. I see a lot of people using deep conditioner every time they wash their hair but it kind of seems a little overkill to me. An expert’s opinion on this would be amazing!!

    • @elliotisdreaming

Chalisaa Singh yeah that’s overkill. Just once a week is a-ok

    • @kierasaurusfrost
      @kierasaurusfrost 5 років тому +33

I’ve been curious about that too! I only wash my hair once a week (it doesn’t get greasy quickly or anything) and I just started using a deep conditioner in place of a conditioner. Using both seems like overkill to me for my 2b/c waves. It also saves money and time just using the deep conditioner. I’ve been getting better results too. My hair is super healthy and I didn’t think I even needed to use a deep conditioner but boi was I wrong!

    • @Bee-li8ox
      @Bee-li8ox 5 років тому +31

Depends on how coarse/damaged your hair is. I use a deep conditioner every time because my hair is not only thick and coarse but chemically damaged and it needs all that moisture. (I don't put it all the way to the scalp though, just where it's chemically damaged)

    • @kristenbellows3411

I can't help but compare this and Texture Tuesday
Mell its interesting to see how consistent you are. The little details:
    ●The facial expressions
    ●The emtions you display
    ●The energy you generate
    ● And much more
You are so animated in every clip all the while focusing on everything else. I honestly have no idea how you do it every Texture Tuesday.
Amanda you have grown so much:
    ●Braver
●Doing entire tutorials on your own
●In Texture Tuesday your comedic timing had a rythm and a flow that was just perfect. To the point where it wasn't over done but instead your co star was just enjoying it.
U both bring an excitement. Mell u always need to keep an eye on because u know she is going to do or say something epic. And Amanda because as she continues to grow each and everytime we see her its like who is this stranger. She consistently is improving and adding new things.
☆Based on Mell' tips, tricks and skills she will continue to be successful.
☆Based on Amanda's editing skills and talent she will continue to be sucessful
But the extra extra that they do just for us....😢...I'm not gonna cry... nope not gonna get emotional(😁)... nope nope....Thank you😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😁😁😁😁
    Happy Throwback Texture Thursday!!!

I am so incredibly glad to have found your channel, Mell! I'm Southeast Asian with long, curly hair, and it is SO hard to maintain. Because
    1) Products specifically for curly hair is limited with 95% of them containing sulfates and silicones. Most people use various oils, but I've found that it dries out fairly quickly or just makes my hair look greasy.
    2) The humidity is insane. Summer all year round with occasional monsoon seasons.
I'm lucky enough to be in Singapore right now, so I have access to Amazon (with extensive cost), but better than nothing. If you have any advice to combat humidity, or a full list of easily affordable products, that would be amazing. Lots and lots of love!

I grew up in the 80's when very very few products existed for curly hair. The very very few that did exist were in some stores that had an ethnic beauty/hair product isle (small area). Some of those products are still around but the the curly hair market is fairly new and still growing. Maybe that's why these products tend to cost more than other beauty hair products (capitalizing on the trend)? Or is it because the products' ingredients cost more therefore cost more to make? I don't know but I'm glad scientists finally realized there is diversity and formulate more products.

I'm a big fan of my silicone collapsible diffuser! It DOES fit on every hair dryer, and because it compresses in size, perfect for travel and those hotel hair dryers (and for the dryers at my gym).

Hi ladies, I have been obsessed with watching your videos. I too am a stylist and have learned so much and can pass all your knowledge on to my clients. I currently own a silk sleep cap & a hand held brush scrubber thingy. Lol
💥💥 Mell can you PLEASE PLEASE do a video on curl types/chart, how to identify curls & what products with curl types

    Hi Mel
I've been using a bonnet for a few months now and it hasnt help to keep my curls intact. Idk if maybe I'm just a really crazy sleeper or what. I wake up with very frizz hair and idk what to do anymore 😭

I am loving watching your videos. I have hair more like Amanda and then on top of it I'm a natural red head, there are not many hair products for my ginger hair and then my curls are being embraced now because of your channel. Love it! Keep it up. You should come out with your own monthly subscription curly hair box.

Hello just wanted to thank you for bringing back my curls. I'm so emotional could cry. Oh my. I know it's only hair. Lol. I haven't even bought the aveda products you recommended. I used my old products which now I know are way too heavy for my fine hair , but I applied your technique. I was using curly girl method and it was a total fail. Way too much product. My hair would be so weighed down and the products they use are for thicker hair. Just too heavy. I can't wait to buy the aveda products you recommended. My hair changed after my first baby. I gave up and figured I'm in that ugly area where my hair is neither curly nor wavy nor straight. So I just decided to pin it up for the rest of my life lol. Today my curls are back! I can't believe it. They are just a little too flat because of the weight of the products, but that's my fault lol. I'm so thankful to you. I was going to even pay for a deva cut. Aghhh

Mel and Amanda thank you for your lighthearted and informative videos. You understand the struggle.
Can you please make a video on how to keep hair fresh through workouts. I can’t wash my hair once a week due to sweat. My wash days are 2-3 times a week and my hairs paying the price for it :-(. I still want to be active but don’t want to sacrifice my hair.

FYI... Amanda can add you as a household member on her Prime acct. I just did it with my son (he's in college). I had no clue until like Saturday. I had him create his own Amazon acct and then I had to send him an invitation.

The only comment I have: satin is a weave of fabric, silk is a fibre. So you can make silk into satin, you can make satin from polyester as well. It’s just a name for how the fabric is woven. You can also weave silk into fabrics that are very rough and textured, satin weaves make fabric shiny and soft 😊 silk is better because it has antibacterial properties, and it will breath more then polyester so it’s also better for your skin
