Great video! Thanks for the pointers! In Blender, you can actually mimic C4D's "step" effect (as it is used here, at least) with Blender's array modifier. Add in an Empty Object, and change the cloth's array modifier offset type to "Object offset", selecting the Empty as your target. Move the target empty up on the Z axis and scale it down. This will give you the same effect non-destructively, and as long as you keep the array above the cloth modifier, you can make as many changes to the initial shape as you like!
Blender and C4D are awesome tools! People need to stop arguing which one is better and learn from each other! I did myself a Guru Donut in C4D and it was pretty fun!
The light transport model in Blender is SOOOOOOO very much better than Octane. I sat looking at Octane renders a friend had done on a quartet of GPUs and nodding saying they're good while dying inside. I left it a while before I showed him what I did on a single 980ti in less time and I think it blew his mind!
I appreciate this. So much of my creative journey has not just been in learning the tools, but learning the fundamental concepts of various things. Just like someone that may learn chemistry or physics, they can understand the core principles and apply them in certain ways. There are so many fields and stacks that can go into 3D art, so learning almost anything outside of the program you're using can help in being productive and effective with that program.
Instant subscribe, this mindset is exactly how I approach learning new tools. I love looking up the "other" softwares to see how they approach it and what I can learn
@1polygonewithme has a great Blender-Octane tutorial playlist, I've been binging it while I'm working on a client's music visualizer. Great pacing and delivery of info@@ascozy_atelier
Very Good Actually, there's an alternative in Blender for the "Step" effect in C4D which is the "Simple Deform" modifier, then you can use "Taper", Also you can find: Twist, Bend, etc.
Great video I understand your workflow I'm doing the same thing I use Blender Octane and I watch lots of Cinema 4D videos using octane to reverse engineer in Blender ....keep providing value your channel will blow up.
Great video! I sometimes say to myself that I should watch tutorials from people that use other DCCs since I found some really cool workflow tips that way, but somehow I still don't do it that often. I'm not sure if I understood correctly what you did to the planes in edit mode, but with the array modifier you can give it an empty as a control object, and by scaling the empty you can gradually scale the duplicates of the plane created by the array modifier.
First time here, I loved your sense of humor, Also i had same frustration about growing on instagram, then i switched to youtube for another type of content and i growed It is weird for me also
Yo, this is an amazing piece of advice! I watch a lot of maya stuff. It’s true that when you understand the principles behind what others talk about, it’s easy to do it yourself :)
Nice work! It's interesting what you said about separate cloth object layers acting up when they're close together and how making the objects part of an array instead could help. But if each one is part of an array, how would each one get acted upon by forces independently (at different times) during a simulation? Does separating (P) fix that?
700 subs lol. I don't mean that in a bad way. Cause you more than doubled that in the 10 days since you uploaded this which is super impressive and it seems like it's well deserved
Good video! in terms of render quality and photorealism, cinema4D and redshift are just unbeatable tho. I'm actually a fulltime blender professional artist and I love Blender, but cycles just doesn't have the level of redshift. Last month I was trying out c4d and redshift for the first time and it's CRAZY how fast you can get photorealistic results with insane lighting and materials. Blender is still my love tho and I will not switch.❤️ I know that Blender will develop and get better with every update.
i get what u are talking about…it gets better though! Agx colors is a step in the right direction i think. it may be harder but u can get close ! thanks man
@@ascozy_atelier I agree, AgX is the first step in the right direction. Cycles is not worse then redshift. Redshift just looks better out of the box. You can get the same look with cycles, it just takes longer. You make good videos, earned a sub:)
I'm curious about your desktop specs. I don't use all of my computer power when I bake my simulations in blender, are there any settings I need to use to maximize my computer power in blender?
Thats a good question! If anybody knows how to enhance baking time pls tell us haha. My specs are rtx 3080 and cpu is a amd ryzen 9 12-core and 32gbs of Ram
The biggest problem for me is that Blender lacks easy modifiers like Cloner. Array is just very limited, it can’t make multiple rows etc. I have to use geometry nodes which I’m not good with.
you can basically replicate it with Geometry nodes already, there's tons of tutorial about it, and oh boy, since you're recreating it from the ground up you can actually learn and go advance than what cloner and effector does in C4D.
Lots of love for sharing this! I also wanted to make stuff like what you see in C4D in Blender but couldn't, Thank you for your tutorial!!! Also, I know this is a very stupid question to ask - how do you find these industry leading artists and their works? There are so many whose works seem great!
Hey man great i can help! So i usually find them on instagram, they post their work there or also on Behance but if you want just check through the people i follow on insta lol
Ok, I should also follow what maya, c4d, Houdini and 3ds max artists are doing. Because they are industry standard artists and their work is much better than home 3d freelancers who use blender. But I knew it already.😂😅
@@ascozy_atelier Yah. But I didn't mean to say that blender artists are not good. The fact is that those who use paid Autodesk softwares, work harder on their projects than those working on a free software like blender, because they had to fully utilize their software resources and complete the project before the premium ends. And this makes them hard working and skilled and their work looks much more polished and professional.

It is hilarious to watch a Blender video telling us to watch Cinema4d tutorials but you are totally right! ;-)
