- Lyrics:
Believe in memories to resurrect me
Besieged by falling dreams
Hold them tightly
Adorn my wings to thee, and use them nightly
I'm neither angel nor a demon spawn
Though some will call me god
Gravity is just a law I've wrought
Hear temptation take the sky for all to see
Sheer elation to write in history
I'm neither angel nor a demon spawn
Though some will call me god
Gravity is just a feeble plot
When I said I'd never kneel again
What I really meant
Was (fucking) pull the pin because time is spent
Unite with ravens on their shadow flights
As my nocturnal right
Gravity is just a mortal's vice
When I said I'd never feel or see
Love and sight are last resorts for me
Periphery.
Love that shit.
same
The ending caught me off guard while on Spotify lol just priceless and made me love the band even more then just "ok this is some good ass music"
I love these vocals so much, no idea how people ever thought he was bad.
Honestly its one of the reasons I like the band. I dont love his screams but I like the singing and I'm just glad its not all screaming
Bands that only scream are boring. Cept lamb of god
sup pinkerton
@@HugoStiglitz88 i personally think that both screaming and clean singing are equally important for a good djent tune
@@birdb0i327 agreed. And metalcore. It's the main reason why they're my favorite types of metal.
''Talented Troop of Traveling Troubadours."
Yep. That's Periphery.
Everyone here hates that ending, but I think it's hilarious. "Love that shit!"
fuck the ending
it is hilarious, but i dont like talking in songs. Good thing there's a version without the ending. ADTR constantly do it and i find it pretty cringy.
The end is literally why I looked this version up. The Offspring had sketches on their albums and this was reminiscent
@@Immolator772 "a day to remember does it and it's cringy", bit redundant don't ya think?
@@drumboarder1 yeah or when they add quotes from movies it's just so bad. AAF especially ruin their song with those stupid quotes.
for everyone missing out, Totla Mad is the next song on the album and it follows perfectly, and it is my third favorite song on this album after this one and insomnia.
Periphery, I've been love this sh*t, Its amazing! I bought all their albums since 2-0-1-0-and now.
still one of the best guitar tones in djent
Periphery V: Djent is not a Genre
@@BezzXav2 the guitar tone on that album is unbelievable
@nitroflux_o1040 yeah ik but it's just the fact that he called djent a genre 5 years ago and now all of a sudden it isn't so I thought it would be funny to relate it 🤣 (both albums have great guitar tones)
I love metal bands that find the perfect balance between clean and harsh vocals, and this is one of them.
FACTS
also I think Killswitch Engage are the pioneers of that balance and still one of the best
Also try Opeth and Between The Buried And Me
First song i heard from these guys a couple of years ago and still rockin it in 2017!!
Seriously when I listened to Periphery's music I didn't think there could be any arguing because of how beautiful it is.
Then I checked the comments and face palmed.
This is a fact like why cant people accept that this album is a masterpiece
@@birdb0i327 haha almost a decade old comment my man but I still feel the same!!
@@supermuffdiver69420 i just discovered periphery bc of my guitar teacher so i am a little late too the party
@@birdb0i327 that's awesome!! you're listening to the right tracks my dude :D
Meh. Not everyone can have taste
What does bother me though is metal fans. I just don't know how anyone who likes metal could find a way to not love this band. But some metal fans take shit WAAYY too seriously. The second they hear singing they thing 🌈 shit
The announcer sounds like the guy from Legend of Korra.
I thought this too! He's supposed to be imitating the radio announcers of the 1920s-30s with the Mid-Atlantic accent which was the accent most used by the upper class in New York in the 1920s and 1930s. The Legend of Korra was heavily inspired by our 1920s-1930s.
@@TheGodsMustBeCrazy Spencer is very versatile.
Cold fuckin chillssssss! I love it! You beefed it up! It finally sounds good in my car. 😍
If you listen to Ragtime Dandies on 0.5, it's really scary.
hahaha xD
Lucas Jenkins hahahahahahaha
Lucas Jenkins Sounds like he's drunk xD
+Lucas Jenkins sounds like hes being sarcastic as fuck xD
It's like listening me very very high
Sounds like a country song ;)
Sincerely,
Misha's personal troll
Lol
😂
If phineas and ferb had two pets, one would be perry, the other phery
Alright, you win the internet, sir. :D :D :D
fucktard
LMTR14
Stfu
Dr. Misha Doofenschmoor
@SempliceM what?
Honestly I can't believe this. Years ago there was this racing game I was interested in called V8 Superstars racing on ps3. On the playstation store it had a trailer and I watched that trailer a bunch of times because it had a really cool metal song in it. I never found out what song it was and half assumed it was some copyright free music they just used for the trailer
THIS IS THAT SONG!!!! I recognized it right away. I can't believe I just stumbled into it like this
Here's that trailer btw ua-cam.com/video/j51of72OhUA/v-deo.html
0:35-0:44 guitar rhythm just randomly pops into my head all the time.
I here so much shit about their singer. So to be honest this is really the only song I listen to by these guys. But I think this vocal track paints the mood the song needed and when I first heard it, not only did it hit super hard but I was intrigued and energized the entire jouney...love this track!
Dat mother fuckin' SNARE!
Dat ghost notes doe
Correct me if I'm wrong I'm pretty sure Matt used an E-kit for this album too. Best samples I've ever heard.
It's the piccolo snare from superior drummer's avatar library
Why does no one ever talk about that chorus and the solo! They're amazing
How did it take me this long to discover the end of this video? That was hilarious.
Its cause its the actual album version haha
Dji-ta-ba-too djent
Spencer Sotelo's which voice goes up in the sky like an angel, and goes down like a wounded oax. Hardcore vocalists in a nutshell XD
there are 3 versions for this song?!
@@lila3028 3 yeah, instrumental, one without the crappy outro, and one with it.
Was listening to this on my stereo and it was blaring, then Ragtime Dandies, comes blasting out. I had to hold back my laughter.
all they have is just bow now bu bu bu bow wee deedle deedle dee
lol
i love asking alexandria. i love periphery. i love metal. idc what type of metal it is
I like how Spencer added in a 'fucking', the naughty bastard
Periphery! Love that shi-
Saw these guys last night!! Best band on the SS bill (my opinion) They opened with this
I swear, I didn't expect the ending, and it's funny as shit.
Same here! Ever since I started to listen to them, my favorite color is madjenta. :)
Not scarlet?
@@surekhaahlawat6068 Great reference. I guess Scarlet wasn't out at the time.
This song makes my cells :)
Ah, you're right. I can't believe I let that slip by.
I like just a single track of Spencer doing the gutterals as opposed to the new one, but the pitching on certain areas of the new areas for the gutterals is better, this still kicks ass
love the ghost notes!
It's why I love Matt Halpern and how he inspired me to start playing drums again. I stopped for 10 years and Matt kinda seemed like the type of drummer I'd be if I didn't stop and the using ghost notes in metal songs is the biggest part of that. Not many metal drummers do that but I always insisted on it cuz adhd lol
playing this at my Nana and Grandads 50th wedding anniversary XD
People always complain about how simple the guitar is in these kinds of songs. In different genres of music different instruments have more importance in the songs. These kinds of songs are drum orientated and the guitar follows the drum kick line for the most part to make this kind of metal sound more pumpy and deep.
this is an incredibly hard song to play on guitar.... those polyrythms brah.
Robert Peet this song isn't hard at all on guitar. The polyrhythms make the song as a whole complex and a little confusing to play when you're playing with the drums but it's still pretty easy.
it's is hard dude.... lol
get Simple? Have you heard Zyglrox or The Walk?
get its not simple u try and play it
3:11 love that shit, so fucking hilarious
Yo ragtime dandies goes hard bro
This is one of my least favorite Periphery songs, and I still absolutely love this song. That says a whole lot. “Periphery, love that shit!”
Jitterbug to djent 🕺🏻
i love the outro lmao
Love that shit!
I wonder what Alex Bois and Tom Murphy are up to nowadays.
I love Perphify
FINGER POPPIN TUNES
coolest grand parents ever
Solo Battle!
One of the few "djent" songs I can actually stand.
"djent" is not a genre. it's a fucking onomatopoeia for christ's sake
Which is why I put djent in the quotes.
i like putting things in quotes as well, say, like, 'you're a faggot'
Well aren't you cool
EpsilonX I am cool, aren't i?
Happy 10th anniversary P1 ❤️
Listen to the beginning at .75 speed for a heavy breakdown.
On the bridge section sounds like Adventure music games in PS1 something like that
i like this song
4:23 Periphery love that shit
People who listen to Djent should be called "Djentleman"
God I fucking love Periphery.
Absolutely amazing!!!
YESSSsSs
Y0000, th0ll is where it's at, br0.
"Periphery. Love that shit"!
Woe is me Stole this intro so hard
Welcome to how to be a Deathcore vocalist.
*Wearing pink tutu thing*
its not but jhofffilms included it in how to be a death core vocalist
More like how to be an atmospheric pink floyd amazing universal hadron colider vocalist.
Jacek Malinowski how is that even deathcore?
Speed Weed Karpizzle is a god lol
Speed 0.5 at 0:08 sec dang
Soooo heavy
My desk couldn't take the weight. The least I expect from you is to show up at its funeral.
0.75x
ano :) i can't wait
They do indeed say that in the video. Which is why he chose it. He doesn't have any limitations to what he plays.
Mmmmmm... Dat groove.
jitterbug to djent
"Believe in memories to resurrect me" ..anyone is reminded of Doctor who series 5 with that lyric? :PP
That's awesome.
i love this song!
god love that intro!!!!!!!!!!!!
periphery, love that shit.
Still my shit to this day.
Progressive Groove Metal is essentially the more specific version of djent
Love the outro :D
Misha said himself that Periphery isn't a djent band.
No, that would actually be pretty sick.
the end is the best
@caseyguitarist Misha has said himself in an interview that Djent is not a genre and that it is simply a guitar technique. I know that Misha doesn't automatically have the last say or anything, but this IS his composition.
This music doesn't sound happy that Icarus is alive!
fallen' dreams hold them tightly.............
the ending is hillarious
makes the crowd get hyped and rowdy 0:07
misha the electric lightbulb mansoor hahahahha
Crank it up to x1.5 speed.
You're welcome.
Sounds like Hacktivist
Josh Rose Almost feels like Sequoia Throne in terms of pace
Damnit josh! Now I can't listen to this at normal speed! Haha
Nahhh man, .75 to .50
that's fucking stupid
THIS VIDEO MADE ME A MAN
dude one of the best growls that i've ever heard in my all life
Ah, I can see that.
Tatman hype!
what a riff...
Icarus lives, but UA-cam dies!
Why does it say Spencer Sotelo as vocalist when this isn't?
it is
@@asherkolars1283 Wasn't periphery 1 chris baretto?
There are some Chris demos that are really only on youtube, but P1 is Spencer. Keep in mind he wasn't the greatest singer on this album, so that's why he doesn't sound the same
solo battle
3:11, why?
why not?
It's pretty fucking stupid, eh?
Ruins it completely.
Darth Revan I don't know why it's on here as if it's part of the song, but it's actually the next track; Ragtime dandies.
It’s fucking pathetic 🤬
Kitboga just sent me here.
DAT INTRO
Djent, as I've always was lead to believe was to do with the "metallic" picking, heard picking sound that you hear a lot in "Djent" style music. I've always referred to it as Djent, but a lot of people are now starting to call it progressive metal.
woe, is me-I've told you once
Volumes-wormholes
if you put the ending at 2.0 speed, it's like nowadays american commercials.
@Bytorand1 hell yeah dude
'ive told you oncel' i think it's called
