I saw this for the very first time a few days ago. When Circle of Life started, I cried. I had waited many, many years to see the show, and a few days ago, my childhood dream came true. I am pleased that dreams like this do come true. I never thought I'd be able to see the show (at least not for a long while), but I finally got to see it and it was worth waiting all those years. The show was pure magic.
Margaret Patel I’m going to see the lion king production in Grand Rapids in November after me doing the jr as adult Simba. I really look up to it. I mention this because I think it’s funny that I will be in 7th grade when i see this. Lol
This is bloody awesome took my fiancée to watch it and we were in awe of it, so good by so many very talented actors, singers, and dancers was pure gold and best thing I've ever seen on stage x
The BEST Broadway show I've seen in my life and I have seen quite a few. I was blessed that it came to Anchorage, AK a few years ago. I actually went to it twice while they were here. I wish they would come back. Every show was sold out (or so it looked like from the theater seats). PLEASE come back up to Anchorage, AK Disney!!! I'm going to see Cirque du Soleil Dralion in January, 2015 but not as excited as I was with the Lion King. If someone is reading this and the show is in your area - go see it!! You won't be disappointed IMO.
I got see it some odd 10 years ago. And I loved it! (My cousin tried to fall asleep on me several times, which made it tricky enjoying the whole thing. Looking back theater might not have been his "thing") I loved the costumes and dances and choreography (since I took dance classes for 10+ years, and in elementary school I was a "Tornado dancer" in our "Snow White" production. We were recreating the colorful swirls as the Queen transforms into the witch). I loved the sets, the music and the atmosphere. I'd say it's something you have to see at least ONCE in your life. I know if I ever get a chance to (if it is still playing) I would love to see it again!
Am I the only one that thinks, that the Lion King is really just an amalgam of Hamlet, Kimba the White Lion (a cheap anime) and The Land Before Time? The latter even used the phrase "The Circle of Life" before the Lion King did.
Well i saw it..the musical in germany Hamburg. And all i can see to this what everyone make out of this Movie/Musical is....Magic...Theater is magic...what gives us the chance to travel to diffrend places even we just sit down on our stairs. Thanks for making such a great and awsome Mucisal to one of my favorit Disney Movies Thanks alot :)
Woop woop! I’ve seen it too and it’s amazing! Not the best musical I’ve ever seen (I’ve seen Hamilton and Wicked so that’s why lol) But its a close third! I was in it at my school in 7th grade and it’s such an amazing musical and movie
"this story is a classic prodigal son story" 1.) No, it's not. Simba never left Pride Rock because he wanted to, and he didn't squander his father's inheritance in reckless living. 2.) It's actually an adaptation of Hamlet, though Disney added a growing-up storyline to it as well. But its mostly Hamlet.
@@keybladechosn1 Except for Prodigal means someone who spends money lavishly. So if someone is referring to any son who leaves his home and comes back as a Prodigal son story, they'd be wrong on all counts.

4, but technically, 5. The native language of the country it's being performed in (in this case, English. It's been translated into 25 languages), Zulu, Xhosa and Swahili, as well as a "click" language that Rafiki uses where she makes certain clicking sounds with her mouth that was (or still is, unsure) a useful language used to mimic twigs and nature :) hope this helps
Thank you! Is it the film that uses 4/5 languages or the musical? I heard on an ITV This Morning programme that looked at musicals and when they went into detail with The Lion King they said they used about 12 languages? I didn't know for certain but maybe that's the musical not the film (because they do differentiate). Maybe they use all the different languages in the music.. I knew that Swahili, Zulu and the 'click' was popular ones (also click is still used:) ) but thank you for the other one! You helped a lot!
seren1996seren It must be the film that uses 12 (unless there are bursts of other African languages within, I am not sure) as I only know these 5. It's a possibility for both, I suppose! Sorry I couldn't be of a bigger help, but I'm glad my other answer helped! :)

This show is spectacular, I cried all through the opening scene. Partly because I'm a costume design buff but also because it's so beautiful
