    La partition est belle, mais quelle est l'explication de cette oeuvre ? Est elle satanique ? En tant que catholique ca me derangerait beaucoup d'apprecier une oeuvre a la gloire de Satan...

      Oh, he absolutely is not glorifying Lucifer. This was written by a Belgian composer in the 19th century and the prospect of a satanic oratorio having any success, in that setting especially, is ridiculous. The piece is about man overcoming Lucifer's attempts to overpower the Lord.

      Benoit is enormously underrated here in Belgium for political reasons. He was part of a nationalistic romantic movement that was common to the whole of Europe then. Like Dvorak, Mussorgski and many others. But the peculiar nature of the unnatural Belgian nation dominated by French influence made that his Flemish orientation was ridiculed and rejected. This survives till today.
