  • So simple, and so stretchy! This is my new favorite bind-off, good to use whether you need a little or a lot of stretch. A good matching cast-on is the German Twisted CO, video here:
    • Knitting Help - German...
Instructions for working this BO in 2x2 rib:
Step 1: K 2 stitches, insert the left needle into the front of the two stitches you just worked, wrap the back needle and knit them together (k2tog tbl)
Step 2: P 1 stitch, Insert left needle into the back of the two stitches you just worked, wrap the front needle and purl them together (p2tog)
    Step 3: Repeat Step 2
Step 4: K 1 stitch, insert the left needle into the front of the two stitches you just worked, wrap the back needle and knit them together (k2tog tbl)
    Step 5: Repeat Step 4
    Repeat Steps 2 through 5
Instructions for working this stitch in any other stitch combination:
K every knit stitch, and k2tog tbl it with the other stitch on the right needle
P every purl stitch, and p2tog it with the other stitch on the right needle
Information on things you'll see in this video:
The shawl I'm wearing (not my design) can be found here:
    www.ravelry.com/projects/veryp...
The needles I use are Knitter's Pride Bamboo DPNs:
    astore.amazon.com/verypinkcom-...
The bulky yarn I used is Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Bulky in colors Crush, Yonder, and Honey:

The nail polish I'm wearing is by Julep, color "London".

Stop the flare! Every 3rd or 4th stitch, bind off the traditional way? I still have the stretch needed for my socks and when the sock is off there is little to no flare. Easy to adjust based on needle and yarn choices.

Thank you so much for this video. I just finished knitting my first sock and couldn't wait to try it on. Well...I couldn't get it on my foot due to my bind off. This is a fantastic bind off... I knit with hemp, cotton, silk yarns often, this works so slick for adding just the right amount of stretch for these fibers without looking messy!!! so happy to see this video😘

L Bottino - this BO uses about as much yarn as a regular BO. I always leave myself a couple of feet for socks so that I can easily finish the BO, and have enough of an end to easily weave in.

I just tried this on a mock turtleneck I'm working on. I had just finished the neck ribbing bind off, and could hardly get my head through the neck opening. I un-did the bind off and reworked it using this stretchy technique, and voila! Worked great. No problem getting my head through the neck opening now, and the flaring is minimal. I do see that I'll have to work on my tensioning when using this technique. Thanks for the oh so timely tutorial.

Great video, I’ve always wanted a neat stretchy bind off without being complicated and time consuming. This is it!! I did find that if I’m binding off a purl stitch, I purl it as you did, but then I moved the yarn to the back, put my left needle through the back of the two stitches on my right needle and wrapped the yarn round to complete the stitch. I found this much easier and it’s still stretchy 🩷
