Say what you want but he MADE Mass Effect by making John Shepard. That character makes the game and it fits the face. He made many of the other voices too so if you love the game you can thank him.
canon shepard is female tho lmfao he’s a great dude, and he did AMAZINGLY with the vorcha, but his voice acting as male shepard was literally so fucking bland. not tonal inflections whatsoever. dude was literally a robot.

I see that people love femshep all over the internet but I can only see male Shepard as the hero of the series. It even blows my mind when people change the default look of him. It's like they cooked up the look/voice in a lab to make it perfect for the role.
2:44 was hilarious. I think that the best voice actor of them all in the ME series has to be Martin Sheen. His voice just fits the role of the Illusive Man so well.
Doing a playthrough of Mass Effect with Sheploo face, it just fits the character and voice for some reason. Plus the creator is garbage haha anyway, thought the same thing about Meer's face because a handsome dude, he would've been a great face model for Kaidan, at least! Or even Vega, Vega looks so stupid!
Jennifer Hale (FemShep) is probably the biggest female voice actress out there, she's easily the most prominent, her list of appearances is extensive to say the least.
@MegaVolcano1 Because Shepard is supposed to be a semi-blank slate (as opposed to a blank slate like the JRPG silent protagonist, or the character-full main characters of a lot of recent games). It allows one to 'be Shepard' to a degree, where using too much emotion means we only 'direct' him to things.
I'm glad someone else sees that too; I feel like he really conveys emotion in me3 as opposed to the previous games; certainly puts him on par with the quality Hale brings.
They did put in the different stats for different squad outfits in ME3. Every one or two outfits had a different set of stat bonuses for them. Generally there were +damage, +recharge time, and +power damage outfits. I'd always pump up Garrus with a +damage outfit and Liara with one of her +recharge time outfits.
@MegaVolcano1 Wondering the same thing exactly. I had no idea hopw much he does in these games and it was a shock to discover all the other parts are done excelently...
lol you gotta love this guy. he looks so goofy when hes in character doing volus and vorcha. makes me wanna go into voice acting. if im lucky i'll be playing Shepard in the 30 year anniversary reboot of Mass Effect
3:06 so much nostalgia, feel like starting yet another playthrough of ME1... then i remember how it all ends (in ME3), and i shudder back into the fetal position for the next few hours trying to forget it again
it is so weird hearing hearing the voice of Sheppard coming from that face. You play one your custom face for so long you just think of your creation as Sheppard. And here you see the voice actor himself and it's his actual voice. Very cool. I hope any of that made sense to more than just me. :-)
yeah endorsing in a store with the male shepards voice will be so great. He's a great talent and i think his voice in the entire game, is the best adapted into the mass effect games :D
Never forget how talented Mark Meer. He voiced the freaking Vorcha.
I've been playing the games for years and never knew this
So the guy whos playing Shepard is also playing vorcha. Thanks for ruining my life EA
+happzy and the volus.
Ive heard he's some of the male quarians too. I haven't looked it up though
Lmao
And the Hanar
And a turian in the citadel
The vorcha voice is the same voice of Shepard! Ohh fuck! hahahahahaha
My thoughts exactly
vorcha and volus.... O.o dang....
"Don't ahhhhh me. You sound like a Vorcha." ;D
Liara T'Soni This makes so much sense now!! :D
This dude is a legend, he'll forever be known as the voice of Shepard.
I should go.
😂
What can you tell me about the Spectres?
THAT'LL BE ALL

Mark and Jennifer - damn perfect job. Also the whole ME voice acting. ME has by far the best voice acting. And the volus and vorcha... unbelieveable.
"… next they move on to Alberta."
LOL
He's such a versatile voice actor, I hope they bring him back for Mass Effect 4 even if its not a main role.
Mark is a legendary voice actor. we can't lose the protagonist!
One of the best voice actors ever!!
Damn Mark Meer you got some seriously talent with your VA! Keep up the good work dude!
Mark is a damn good artist.
Mark raised his game in Mass Effect 3. I'm really impressed with his performance.
Watching Mark Meer voice a Vorcha is fantastic
(Hope this comment ain't taken) I'm commander Shepard and this is my favourite video on the citadel
My favorite Shepard. I liked Jennifer but I liked him better as Shep he nailed it IMO. He's definitely my definitive Shepard.
Damn. After playing the Mass Effect series so many times, when I see the guys "actual" face... It just doesn't fit! :D
Mistah J. When you see him in full N7 Armor he does
Like anybody doing voice acting voice actually fits there face
Thanks Mark, for the best trilogy in existence
I miss you Shepard.
He's in Jade Empire?!?! OML!!!
"Your ways are strange, earth-clan" Just made my day :)
"Things to see and people to do!" :'D
Now imagine THAT in a vorcha voice
Got to meet him in person this week. Such a cool guy.
the complete cast of voice actors for every Mass Effect game is just absolutely amazing and AAWESOME!

FINALLY! I've only seen pictures of Mark up to this point ... great to see the voice in action. PS Awesome work!!
He is just amazing as vorcha.
I wonder why they used a professional model's face for the character instead of his.
Exactly what I was thinking moment ago entering this video.
+xbh1h2 Oh, so that's where the 'loo' in 'Sheploo' comes from.
+Eck mark vandarloo has far more better face for a commander in galactic army.....more authorative face. I like that they used his face
They tried to use Vanderloo's voice, but his accent wasn't cutting it. "Ve'll vang, OK?" wouldn't have been as famous.
Doing a playthrough of Mass Effect with Sheploo face, it just fits the character and voice for some reason. If he and TotalBiscuit had a podcast, all my sicknesses would be healed.
It's so strange to hear Shepard's voice coming out of this guy. But he's damn talented.
Hey Mark also did VO work in Outlaw Star as Gene Starwind, that was just as cool.
The best...thx Mark
About time they mention the voice for guy Shepard.
I LOVE that he's back in Baldur's Gate now. I got thrilled when I saw the lineups of the new characters.
The voice of female shepard is quite underrated imo. Her voice is so powerful
Jennifer Hale (FemShep) is probably the biggest female voice actress out there, she's easily the most prominent, her list of appearances is extensive to say the least.
Well I'm afraid your opinion is wrong because it isn't.
Underrated? It's overrated as Hell!

ArvelDreth It doesn't matter what most people prefer.
Ha, the expression when he does a vorcha. Priceless.
No one could have been a better commander Shepard!
