    Nvidia is trying to find the bare minimum performance they can offer for that $2000 price point. Had gamers not finally started buying AMD cards, they'd have already had it with the 4090.

      I happen to like my 4090, it's a beast of a card. Runs anything you throw at. I've been burned by AMD before but I'm thankful for so many to validate the waters and maybe I'll return one day.

      @@RuruFINI mean amd doing same shit as Nvidia anything below 4090 or 4090 is a waste since all r cut down pretty hard if you look into speccs yes 7800 xt looks nice at glance but in speccs wise it should be a 7800 not a xt model since they compare the 7800 xt to a 6800 none xt then the price gap isent as good as you think it's still cheaper then 6800 none xt but not as cheap you think since some compare to 6800 xt

      My first 2 computers were intel and nvidia but I just built a new computer with a 7800x3d and 7900xtx. Honestly, if AMD just keeps making GPUs that can compete in the mid to high end market that's fine.
      There's no doubt that the 4090 is a great card. But a 7900xtx or a 4080 is gonna get you most of the performance, especially at 1440p, for 60% of the price.
      If amd releases 8900xtx and it can't quite compete in performance with the 5090 then it has to compete in price. The 4090 will still be a great card next gen but if a 8900xtx comes out and beats it and is cheaper (because let's be real the 4090 isn't going below 1000 anytime soon) then amd should be in a good spot.

    Actually isnt that horrible?
    Every generation recently they claim 100% or more improvement.

    I laugh my ass off at the 5090 leakers. When Apple moved to 3nm, they got a 10% IPC gain and 35% power savings. What Apple did was shrink the die to keep the same amount of defect losses. Anyone who believes NVidia will give away die space on a much pricer node is dreaming. There will be no 24,000 shaders on a single die, worse cache memory does not shrink therefore there is even less space for shaders on a 3nm node. The only way NVidia will deliver more shaders is going multi-chip on the current node, which I don't see. What I expect NVidia to do is make the 5090 series effectively a "Super" rendition with incremental improvements and more shaders for lower end cards.

  • @InnuendoXP
    @InnuendoXP 11 місяців тому +2

    The RTX 4090 was pretty neat in how it basically let you pay double the going rate for a decent GPU letting you effectively pre-order the performance of the gen after that.
    If this thing will truly compound "that" uplift by another 70% I bet they'd charge triple for that!

    NVIDIA is not gonna give us the full GB102 because it's gonna be cut down so the rest can be saved for a 5090 Ti or a TITAN. So if the full GB102 has 24K shaders, we're most likely gonna see 20K shaders on the regular 5090 which is 4K more shaders than what we have on the 4090.

    a cynical person might think that Nvidia has leaked this out there on purpose because they are concerned that AMD is gaining too much unchallenged public mind share from the successful launch of the 77/7800 series graphics cards.

    40 series was Nvidia's biggest performance increase since Maxwell, and the biggest price increase in the history of GTX/RTX blah blah blah. The result was incredibly slow sales, which sent Nvidia into damage control. The PR machine started beating the drum of "Moore's Law is dead" to curb expectations for 50 series. Inventory started being controlled and the rumor of delaying until 2025 had to come from somewhere. Likely to give 40 series a chance to sell. We'll be lucky if 50 series has percentage parity for price and performance increase.
