It is raining. My heart is too. It has been a rather long siege. But I don't mind the lower notes. I enjoy the discordant melodies and slow to build. What hurts is the recklessly torn down, the thrown around and discarded. And yet, what would any pure note mean without a context of sometimes lost in sadness? Thoughtful, cautious, opening despite wanting to be closed, rising while falling, the coming down of the rain to quench dry living things. Pensive, elusive, mysterious, unknown, painful to remember and yet all that is, the shadow of, once upon a time. In honor of loss and its rightful place among found. Pour down.

Connecting songs to times/places/people is nothing new of course, but this one is so firmly connected to when I was going through my first heartbreak as a teenager that it really shocked me to see, feel, and even smell that time period listening all these years later. I wonder if it has something to do with the lack of lyrics and generally being a wide-open soundscape? Maybe the lack of verbal cues lets the imagination work a little more freely. There are other, more lyrical, songs from this period that don't trigger the same reaction for me... Could just be a fluke or whatever but I felt compelled to write it down so here we are
