I've only subbed to your channel yesterday and I'm so happy that you made this video. In the last year, I've actually been missing they daily vlogs that UA-cam used to have when people were still more concerned about talking to and audience and building community than about performing on the platform. There is something special about just providing a space of discours and making simpler videos. It feels more honest and I genuinely appreciate that I know you're just making this for yourself and the audience. I sometimes catch myself cutting genuine moments out of my own UA-cam videos because I think people won't care. This was a good reminder to do that less. So thank you:)

Thanks so much for being here Jerome and I appreciate you sharing. I can’t agree more and I have found myself CRAVING spaces where people like us can go and feel like we can actually engage in meaningful conversation. Let’s keep this culture going!

Yuppp a lot of creators that establish themselves work for the algorithm and long for creating content they actually want to create

Not a bad idea to just focus on making the content you want to create from the beginning right?!

So much wisdom in pursuing a slow and steady life. I'm sorry we never met up in person while you were still near Portland but stoked that you are uploading these videos, feel like I am getting to know you a bit more in each one! Also thank you for inspiring me to upload stuff!

Hey Kyle, nothing to be sorry for, just gives me another reason to visit Portland again when I have the chance! Thanks so much for watching and I’m so glad it’s inspiring you to upload too. Keep up the great work!!!

Guilty of overthinking and finding a ton of excuses not to start (or continue). Filming every day filling up my drives, but not posting for a year, lack of consistency, blah blah blah. Thanks for the reminder to just be authentic and get going. And from time to time in your daily documenting, maybe you get to share an awesome story or a great shot! Keep it up, Alex!

I feel you on that one! I have so much footage shot and sitting in drives, but looking back, I wonder if I was shooting that content because I truly wanted it, or if I was trying to create something that catered to trends and what I thought other people wanted… which may be why I felt so resistant in the first place!

Ahaha that shout-out totally caught me off guard 😂 it brought a smile to my face seeing this video pop up on my feed, knowing you’re gonna be creating something daily.
Would love to have a proper conversation with you (as an aspiring UA-camr) if you’re down that would be great!

Hey David, I’d love to chat! Feel free to connect with me on Instagram if you’re on there. I’m glad the shoutout brought a smile to your face, because my goal for building this channel is to foster community. Other people’s voices are just as important as my own!

Hey Alex! Thank you so much for sharing, especially this topic! I'm going through something similar in filmmaking and content creation. My goal is to create more long-form type of content. I enjoy your style and editing of your videos. Keep it up, and I wish you the best!

Hey Ray, I’m so glad this message is resonating with you. Feel free to share more on what you’re going through, whether it be here in the comments or privately with me on IG DMs. I’m sure you’ll find that you’re not alone with some of the things you feel. Also, if you get a piece of long form content out, send it my way or share it here so the community can check it out!

Great video! I’m fighting the same thoughts. Performance vs personal passion projects. This is a great reminder to just share what you feel and be true to yourself. It’s not all about views. Easier said than done. 😬

That is something that I am navigating as well, because I do see the value from a brand reach perspective, in producing quick and snappy content. One idea I’m playing with, is having a secondary educational channel which I can link to whenever I talk about those things on this channel. In the end, it’s really about serving the audience and making their experience the best, right?

    • @DavidLindgren89
      @DavidLindgren89 Рік тому +1

@@itsalexoh That's true! It's a tricky balance. I think the more you spread out (in terms of topic and niche) the more you might connect with your audience (because you show who you are in all aspects) but the growth might take longer. Question is, what is more important? And why is it important?
I started a second channel for my vlogs for this reason. In a couple of years, I can hopefully say that it was a good compromise for my niche-down focus on the main channel while still keeping a space for more creative output.

@@DavidLindgren89 I’m so glad to hear about your experience because it’s a question I know a lot of creators ask themselves (about starting a new channel, or keeping it all in one place)
You had some really solid audience growth over the past year, so knowing what you know now, what would you do if you had to start from zero again?
