The song is about how she despises all the roles shown in the MV, yet she plays them all. Play as in playing the role. First you can see her playing as some rich girl who only cares about money. Then she mocks how celebrities these days have to one up each other by showing more skin and how the fans just go to whoever is more popular rather than staying loyal. She also rolls her eyes after taking a pic with the fans to show how some celebs dont really care about fans. She then mocks how hipsters think theyre original yet gets mad when someone else has the same look or behaviors. Lastly, she mocks people who go to the gym to enhance their beauty or show off their body rather than trying to become healthier. In the end it shows a map of Taiwan where you can see more problems such as gov corruption and pollution. I highly recommend you guys to check out her other MVs since theyre very creative. You can see that there are different things on different part of the island. Each of them has its meaning, indicating to a specific social event or issue that had drawn a lot of controversies among Taiwanese. Play is not my favorite song of Jolin, but it's definitely a very special one and worth to be watched many times to get what Jolin wants to convey through the MV and the lyrics.

I know this was a long while back, but dang, I really want more cpop reaction videos! There's not enough people listening to them! She does a lot of social commentary stuff in her music and videos. (Which might also be why not a lot of Westerners listen to cpop - a lot of their stuff is often rooted in culture and politics.)
