Hi! I’m a bit confused, do you have a port or a a picc line (think that’s what it’s called!)? And who was criticising you? I completely agree with what you mean about taking control of your own care but us the way you’re doing it safe? We aren’t allowed IVs in the uk except once Avery few months if we go to the emergency room as it’s seen as a really drastic measure here, so maybe they’re just worried for your safety as you’re doing it yourself? Hope you don’t see this as a mean question, I just don’t understand a few things x
hey Georgina !! Your questions are great, always feel free to ask away !! Here in canada, we have clinic's specifically for IV's and with a doctor's prescription are allowed IV's as needed. when i do iv's at home, I order all my medical supplies from a medical distributer and it is safe and legal. i do not have a picc or port as they hold a greater risk for infection so i get a new iv by needle every time i need an Iv infusion ,of course done by someone with medical training. the Iv clinic themselves are criticizing my choice to do Iv's at home when they can do them for me at the hospital. i hope that all makes sense and answers your question !
chronically inspired thank you for explaining that all so well, I see what you mean now and that’s so unfair that you were treated like that! I’m glad you’ve figured out how to help yourself now though, sounds like you’ve mastered your routine :) I just tagged you in the chronic illness tag btw, I’m tagging all of my favourite Chronic illness channels and hoping they’ll do the same as I feel like it’s hard for people in this community to collaborate (for obvious reasons) but I’m excited to try to get all of us collaborating on this! 😊
