At one point I aimed to make a genesis styled mod but with the actual choppy animations and i had it pretty good, it looked just like the animation timkng of the original (instead of Sonic walking super fast he jogged with regular speed, just with less sprites) but when I'd get finished the animation files would corrupt for some reason.
A bit of a mixed bag this. I mean, yes the creator of this does state that they won't be changing the level design and also that this is a beta, so improvements can be made. The gameplay is good, I couldn't see anything that was off, the only downside to the gameplay is that - and yes this is mentioned in the info about this video - is that the level layout/design won't be changed, which means it is just Sonic Mania levels that look and sound different and nothing is added to the gameplay, so to be honest, I started to lose interest because - other than the palette and music - there was nothing else to hold my attention as I've seen and played Sonic Mania so many times before. Now, with regards to the palette changes, I really did like the palettes for Splash Hill Zone and Death Egg Mk II Zone - which was excellent and was a lovely throwback to Death Egg Zone from S3K - and their respective theme tunes. But without changes to the level layout and enemies, it was nothing more than a pretty respray of Green Hill Zone 2 and Metallic Madness. Also with regards to theme tunes, I really enjoyed Stardust Speedway's Past level theme music, it really fitted the level's aesthetic. However, the next level - Stardust Speedway Future - really needs some work with regards to the visual and sound design. There is too much of a colour clash with the foreground and background and the music, well, it just doesn't work, it's very distracting and clashing. The soundtrack for that level doesn't sound anything like it would from the Genesis/Mega Drive. The problem with this game/mod, is that unless the creator decides to change their mind and alter the level layouts/designs and enemy placement, then it will just be a mediocre palette/music swap, but won't offer anything new gameplay-wise for people who have played Sonic Mania, which is a shame because this has the potential to be good, but doesn't offer much else in its current form. It's a bit like buying a middle-range car that is blue with a standard music player that plays the same stuff, taking it out for a spin and then coming back, buying another exact same model of the car, but that is painted red, with a slightly different brand of music player with music that is slightly different and expecting the car to perform and/or provide more fun than the blue one. A bit of a fucked-up/not very well-clarified attempt at an analogy there, but more needs to be done than a music and palette swap.

The video and graphics are way too smooth to run on the Genesis, maybe it would work on the 32x but there is no way the Genesis could handle this as shown here
Change of visuals, since I'm very familiar with the Sega Genesis, there are too many inaccuracies to run on the Genesis, plus this runs on rdsk, a software used for the sonic remasters you may be familiar with which runs in widescreen and the file is too large to run on a genesis, also this would need to be written in assembly to work
I don’t think will ever be playable on a real genesis. Maybe the cdx, but the biggest issue with porting this game is the special stages, which 100% will not work on genesis ever
bro they really half assed the characters by having the Animations have the same amount as frames as the original lol i know it's supposed to look more like genesis but seeing choppy animation in sonic mania is just cursed
this not only reminds me that sega wasted the perfect name for sonic mania on a shitty dimps game but that sonic 4 had potential (im not saying that dimps should have just made sonic mania but just in general that sonic 4 could have been good)
Rather Have Sonic 3 Sprites. Kill Sonic 4 music, its terrible. Sonic's appearance at the finish are wrong color. Super Sonic should only have star bursts not shadows.
