Who will win the NCAA Tournament this year?
The Herd with Colin Cowherd Doug Gottlieb is a bitter old man who hates college kids
The Herd with Colin Cowherd Kansas state
I have more faith in Loyola right now than anybody
NOVA
Michigan
Doug is the uncle that tells you about his experience from back in the day, not focused on the present... just like his dad coaching aau and not knowing anything about basketball...via la.
his show is really struggling. They put him on because Jay Morh QUIT. Fox is putting Doug on too help bring in viewers for his show. Its not working. They should move him to weekends. Jason Alexander is terrible.
@@craigharris41 3 years later still going…
My biggest takeaway from this Kentucky lost? The fact that people think Kansas State is like a varsity high school basketball team. They were pretty decent this year.
swjp 36 I picked Kansas State in my final four. They were a very good team by the end of the year
Kentucky wasn't even good this year
we were decent, not amazing. We had the right seeding, that tells you how good we were. And we were missing our only consistent scorer (Wade) for most of this game and every other game in the tourney. Im surprised at our run lol
Same dude. Exceeded my expectations by far. It's weird to think that they might not even make an Elite Eight next year, depending on what happens.
Of course Colin takes another Friday off
He couldn't finish writing the divorce analogy in time for the show.
Liam Owen if u have the opportunity not to work on Fridays you wouldn't take it?
He was on Larry Kings show today
Gottlieb should not be Colin's backup. Third string at best, come on fox
Jasper Sibenik nah, he should be on the waiver wire permanently. Doesn’t even belong on a depth chart
kyrietherealmamba lmao i wouldn't mind that either
One and dones vs Experience
The year they won with AD was not at all luck.
The tourney will be fine as long as nova duke Kansas or Michigan are in the final four. Double digits seeds have constantly made the final four. It’s about having the rest of those teams be the big names
Why is it Doug who always replaces Collin. Please get anybody else
I sometimes find Colin obnoxious and annoying, and he likes to tease things to no end. But Doug is always obnoxious and annoying. I agree with you.
Would you rather have that bonehead Whitlock?
noooooooo
If Kentucky didn’t suck at free throws they win. One player missed 13 free throws.
Don A one team Vs one player. PJ couldn't hit a FT to save his life last night and shot 27% worse than his season FT avg
They were gifted fouls.
cacable7 Hey bud all I did was state a fact. I actually find UK insufferable and have never liked them. It’s just a fact that if they make free throws the game isn’t close.
If Kentucky didn't get 35 charity chances (which was ridiculous), KSU wins by 20
Kevin Davis the refs tried really hard but it didn't work. Thanks for the charity Kentucky.😀
I hate this idea that the national sports media has that we should not root for underdogs because no one wants to see those teams play for championships and it hurts the tv ratings. The problem with that logic is that if the same teams dominate every year then there's no point in watching at all. Why root for your local college or pro team if you know they have no chance to win? The NFL playoffs and March madness get some of the best buzz and ratings of all sports. What do they have in common? Single elimination games where upsets happen all the time.
That NFL example is a really good point. There is parody (at least in early rounds/wildcard round) which (most) people love.
Sports is all about luck, it's all luck. No matter what sport it is, you have to get lucky to win championships.
What Gotleib doesn’t mention or fails to mention is that Villanova didn’t exactly have the toughest road to their championship this year and their being crowned the gold standard.
We were actually 4th in the Big 12 and we only have maybe 3 juniors and zero seniors. The rest are freshman and sophomores
I do agree that 18-19 year olds can only do so much against 20-plus year olds. That's why Kentucky has just one title in 9 years despite having a team two deep in NBA players every time out.
I'm a UK fan but i wasn't that exited about this years team. Knox and Diallo(slightly) are the only ones who should leave imo
I agree...I think the only one really that is ready for the NBA is Knox. Diallo I think needs more time, but is the next closest. The rest should all come back.
No diallo stay shai Leaves
its nice every once in a while to not have colin spit all over my screen
It was a fun, close, and exciting game.
A little tired of these sports analysts talking for everyone saying they don't want the Cinderella team to win. Speak for yourself.
Excellent! Your analogy of what has brought success can be ones undoing is what I've said about OKC Westbrook; lots of double and triple doubles but nothing else...no Harden, Duranr, Ibaka, Jeff Green or the Pacers guard that left. Nothing but a state stuffer! You could even say the same about Camelo Anthony; he has only one mive since college. Hasn't expanded his game not one bit. That one jump shot move brought Cameloto success and now it's his downfall.
Also, I’m watching Loyola and enjoying it. I don’t know what this guy is talking about. One reason why casual basketball fans watch the tourney is for the upsets
The mainstream sports media HATES non P5 teams. Always has, always will. Whenever a non P5 team wins an NCAA Tournament game, Jay Bilas acts like his wife left him and his dog just died.
Just look at Calapari. Hated at Memphis by the same guys who've been fellating him since he took a job with the "right" team (Kentucky).
Jay Wrignt > Calapari ....Should be obvious
People that say Cal is not a good coach obviously don’t understand what he’s done for this team alone. He took the youngest team in the nation and made them a final four contender
They were not a final four contender. They were a 5 seed and had an easy draw based on seeds.
I wonder how many of them are going to stay or just go to the NBA lmao
They were a final four contender because the highest seed they would play was a 9
Just because a team is young doesn't mean they aren't good. Inexperienced, yes, but below average, no. If you get 5 guys as freshmen that could start in the NBA as rookies, that's a damn good college team regardless of age. Not saying all of his teams are like that, but a lot of them are close.
One and done era in UK might be done in 2 years tops. Duke will prolly do it for 5 more years.
Jarred Vanderbilt was hurt... you can talk about injuries in 2012 all you want but every team ends up having a injury in March. You have to be blessed to not have an injured player in March.
Okay people are saying these Cinderella teams are bad. What about getting this interest from schools that normally aren’t that good, but still have large alumni and fan bases
Loyola is a legit team. They have been all year long.
so many good points. you hit on the Kentucky thing 100 percent. .. Quade might have to transfer because hes not NBA material and Immanuel Quickley coming in next season
They most certainly did not finish 2nd in the Big 12
Korland K 4th to be exact
Right, Gotlieb surprised me with that comment. He once got interviewed for KSU's HC job before Weber was hired.
why was fab melo suspended?
Calipari : Amazing recruiter, below average coach
Highlander10001 he's actually one of if not the best coach in the country.. Coaching without upperclassmen is the hardest thing a coach can have to do
do you read your posts before clicking the reply button?
TheGreatCalii Dude his team is stacked with all Americans and they play in a weak conference
E Boogie the SEC was one of the best conferences this year.. Since Cal has got to UK it's gotten better and better
All I know is, one title in almost 20 years at what is supposed to be such a great program is underwhelming. I'm not talking about just coach Cal obviously, I mean the program as a whole
KSU finished fourth and went 0-7 again 1-3 in the big 12 lol (ku, wvu, and ttu)
Garrett Arner they actually didn't go 0-7 kid
Well, we’re in the Elite Eight, so nice job posting a totally meaningless and irrelevant comment! Have a nice day.
Sorry maybe my typo made it hard to understand what i meant. KSU was 0-7 combined against the top three teams in the big 12. However, i think you probably understood that based on your comment since it was related to what i meant to say. Maybe go check the standings of the big 12 because you are actually wrong, kid.
Right, was a weird situation. They lost to everyone above them but won all but two games against the teams below them. Weird to think of K-State, the 4th best team in the "best conference" was only a 9 seed.
I just want Colin
How i spread the fault:
60% Pj Washington’s Free Throws
20% Guard Turnovers
20% Calipari Play-calling
I'd agree there.
Mismatches for Kentucky???? All of their players were taller and much MUCH longer than Kstate guys... We had 2 healthy bigs above 6'5 while almost all of the Kentucky players are that height and up! We couldnt guard any of UK's bigs 1 on 1, or any of the forwards and guards length wise. At the end of the game, our biggest guy was 6'3 and shorter than any player on the floor for UK xD
I actually thought the game could have went either way, in part because the previous meeting in STL (2014 Round of 64) was a dogfight. Though it was in Atlanta, I sensed K-State wouldn’t have as much pressure on them to perform like Kentucky who had the shorter travel to the regional.
How about giving K-State was a very good team?
Doug! Great host.
Not sure who is worse ... Doug Gottlieb or Nick Wright??
Gilgeous alexander and knox are both lottery picks, pj washington, hamidou diallo are absurd athletes amd quade green is a solid bball player. Kentucky had a damn good team wtf is doug talking bout lol
Why would Colin let a Bron hater fill in for him?
Doug " I talked bad about everyone" Gottlieb
Southwest Curry except for his crush Kevin Durant
pj washington missed atleast 11 free throws. had he shot 50% from the line they would've won. at the same time he was the only guy on uk who could score. interesting dynamic
As a BIG 12 fan I feel like I need to correct Doug. K-State did not finish 2nd. They finished 3rd. WVU and Texas Tech tied for 2nd. Kind of an important detail. K-State is not the 2nd best team in that league. Not even close.
Another important detail... two teams tying for 2nd means the next team finishes in 4th place .
Andrew we actually finished 4th.
Wenyen Gabriel should transfer to Wyoming!!!!!!!!!!!
Calipari along with Bill Self are two of the best recruiters ever but they are not great coaches! One only has to look at Self's record in the tournament, while Calipari is the only coach to have not one but two seasons wiped out completely. The two best seasons he ever had at his former schools. Given the talent they have both enjoyed to have only one title apiece reflects their lack of coaching ability. Ironically, the only time each won a title was against the other one! LOL!
Yah if two low seeds are in the championship game no one will watch it.
4 wins by a total of three point is a win not luck. YOU DON'T KNOW what is. Talk to Sister Jean. Kentucky, Louisville, Kansas, North Carolina, Syracuse, and UCLA step aside. The best tournament in awhile.
You guys are off. Doug is solid I like him
love doug
Gottlieb isnt great, but he’s not that bad guys come on
hey Doug duke is home sitting on there couches no final 4 either. The players Coach Cal recruited almost every school would be happy too put on scholarship. Its tough to win the tournament ask Coach K Doug! There have been several times Kentucky best player's have been injured so those excuses are bogus sir! Better luck next yr for Duke and there number one seed again but they better pray Kentucky kids jump and don't return too school or duke Blue Devils lose again
This guy has bashed Coach Calipari like he invented the 1 and done. The NBA and the NBA players association created the 1 and done. But now that Duke is doing in and everyone else for that matter suddenly it's okay. Thing is KY got to the sweet 16 again, how many teams didn't even make it into a bracket. How many better teams lost before the round of 16. It's a tournament that has a 1 loss and you're done rule. Ask Virginia and their 3 seniors and 3 juniors about how much it helped to have upper class men on their team.
Wow, depressing to watch this dude. This was a painful game to watch for both sides as it was a Pfahl after foul call. I love how he points out if the ball is on the floor Kansas State was likely to get it, yet they won more impressively despite the foul trouble for Kansas State. Where is the mention of Kentucky missing Jared Vanderbilt? And no, Kentucky would likely not be having a senior such as Grayson Allen, he would have been benched and quit the team due to his behavior being punished. He is the type of person who ends up in legal trouble later because they were not taught life lessons at this level. He will be “above the law” in his mind after he leaves Duke. Regardless, this was a rant of contradictions that was almost as painful to watch as the KY - Kansas State game because it was watching the referees instead of the 2 teams actually play.
Doug tries too hard to be Colin
I disagree with the whole "players" didn't want to play with Kobe" Is Kob a perfect person? No. Was Kob a perfect player? No. However, why would a prime time free-agent want to play for an organization (which @ that time) was in *TOTAL, COMPLETE FLUX!* That whole Jim & (Sis) Jeanie Buss power struggle era. The carousel of coaches. C'mon now! Why would anyone want to go there? & Anyone who reads this, we ALL agree that far as San An goes...Top notch organization. But besides Lamarcus Aldridge, name a prime time free-agent that went to the Spurs?🤔🤔 Answer: ZERO. So this notion that nobody wanted to play with Kobe Is a false narrative. Is what it is tho.
Garbage ...hot garbage .. give these young men there just due .. these guys are upset because they know that the major teams loosing affect their market of major covering and high profile interviews. How about inviting the Cinderella stories to your show and giving them the same experience that allowed butler and Gonzaga to become what they are today ....
I really hate listening to Doug Gottlieb. He's vanilla, with a whiny voice. Go get Chris Mannix, Jalen Rose, maybe even Bill Simmons or something. I'd even rather have Leahy guest host. This guy just bores the f out of me. Anybody but this guy, except:
Whitlock
Rob Parker
Will Cain.
