I have locs and I just retwist at home. I haven’t gone out to get my hair done in years because of stuff they brought up in the video. People are less trained/certified, less professional, but asking for more money and enforce petty policies. Also the area I’m in the prices are outrageous. In Mel’s case, there’s no reason why that lady couldn’t have given her a heads up about the parking situation, especially with her being a new customer.

Stylist and Doctor’s (etc) offices… if you are late they cancel and possibly charge.
But let them be running behind and have you sitting there for an extra 30 min to an hour and not even an apology or explanation 🙄. And then be rushing your appointment like it’s your fault 😑😑
The lack of professionalism amongst women's beauty providers is why I go to a barbershop to maintain my natural hair. Fast in fast out, especially since they want to reclaim the space for the guys. These days many men's beauty providers have extended their services to include basic hair coloring and straightening treatments.

A few years ago I had an early morning hair appointment. And after I had the rollers in my hair sitting under the dryer… my hair stylist got a call from her son saying they needed a ride to work… since I was the only one in the shop being serviced (and she wasn’t the owner, just renting a booth) she told me I couldn’t be in the shop while she wasn’t there… so she had me ride with her. Now there I was in my hair stylist passenger seat while she picking her son up from her house and dropping him off at foot locker. WITH THE ROLLERS IN MY HEAD 🤦🏾♀️

I had a hairstylist change my appointment time without telling me 😂. I showed up and she told me i was late. Im like no im on time. Then she said my appt was changed to x o'clock (i dont remember). She said i confirmed the new time. But actually she sent me the confirmation and I assumed it was the appointment date/time I scheduled and just said confirmed. She should have sent me a separate message before sending the confirmation that siad i need to change your appointment time, if i agree then send the actual confirmation message. She still did my hair but I was very much annoyed.

By the grace of God, I’ve never had an issue with a hairstylist, I live in Atlanta, and I don’t do my own hair. I have however had a terrible time trying to support black owned nail salons. There was one I went to during the pandemic and she had all of these rules which was fine at first, but after I had been going to her for about 6 months, I had to cancel an appointment because I had to get Covid tested for my job. I told her about 5 hours in advance, but her policy was that you had to cancel 6 hours before the appointment or you had to pay full price. She was very adamant about me paying it. I did, but never went back to her. The second black owned nail salon I went to, I had the same experience Mel did, but I called in advance saying I was running late by about 5 minutes trying to find a place to park. I was a first time customer. I got there and had to wait 30 minutes. As soon as the owner got there, she had grocery bags in her hand and told me I was late. She kept telling me throughout the service that she has a very strict policy on people being late and she wouldn’t charge me this time, but next time that I needed to get there on time. I never went back there either. Sadly, I had to go back to being a walk in at the Asian nail salon around the corner and never had those issues again

An application is considered a legal document once you sign it. If you tell tales on it you can be fired because of it vs on your resume where it can be total fiction with no liability. Cover letters should totally fall by the wayside.

Hey Liss, I may have missed you speak on this but Love on Stage. Is that coming back? Or have you had a new season since season two? I enjoy all your productions. But that was my favorite.
I've been doing my own hair for years because of the many times I cried after getting my hair done by these "stylists". I grew it so much (I used to be scissor/clipper happy) and it was healthy. I foolishly took my hair to this lady's chair last year because I wanted a silk press and didn't trust myself, but lawd I would've been better off trying it myself cause she was raking my sensitive behind hair like she ain't care. It didn't even last til the next day. I let her do a different style just because I had already spent my money. The make up style was cute, but the string and twisty thing that held the hair she put in was left in my hair. I found out when I took the style (swoop with curly ponytail) down🤦🏾♀️. I'm trying to repair the heat damage now. I should've left the chair the minute she raked the comb through my hair the first time.
I think The Bachelor always ends with a proposal but the couples hardly ever get married. Meanwhile it seems like the couples from The Bachelorette more often do end up getting married.
