2025 Subaru Forester | What are Features of New Generation?

The new generation of Subaru Forester has improved safety and performance, and a 180-horsepower four-wheel drive is installed under the hood.
As one of the best-selling SUVs on the market, the Subaru Forester has a loyal following that appreciates its practicality, efficiency and capabilities. The automaker doesn't plan to change that with the new Forester, but regular customers should still appreciate the vehicle's stiffer construction, larger cargo area, and additional technology.
The engine is Subaru's familiar 2.5-liter four-cylinder, and it makes 180 horsepower in the Forester - losing two horses but increasing torque over the previous generation.
A continuously variable transmission is standard, as is the latest version of the automaker's all-wheel drive system, which has been revised for quicker response and active torque distribution to the rear wheels. Like the old Forester (and the current Crosstrek and Outback), the X-Mode system is standard on all but the base trim, helping improve off-road performance.
Subaru has yet to confirm the launch of a Forester Wilderness version, but this trim seems predictable given the success of the current family of rugged crossovers.
The 2025 Subaru Forester will hit dealerships next spring, and the automaker won't release pricing information until then. However, the SUV is unlikely to be cheaper than the 2024 Forester's starting price of $28,390.
