Dean, if you ever read this I love your books! My first book (like a lot of fans I think) was Watchers, but the one that had the biggest impact on my life personally was False Memory. I read that book in rehab, and I related to Skeet so much. It was a very, very dark time, and I needed the hope that was in that book to make it through. And I'm 15 years sober! Thank you so much for writing that book ❤
I bought my first Dean Koontz book after seeing his picture with his rescue Golden Retriever in the back of the book. I was currently doing Golden Retriever Rescue and had to support this author who loved his dog. I was hooked! Every one of his books I have read have entranced me. Great seeing him interviewed by Hillsdale.
One of my favorite reading memories was my early college years in a Hilo, Hawaii cottage, afternoon rain downpour outside, snuggled up with my girlfriend on a sofa reading 'The Bad Place.' Thank you sir for the great stories.
I don't believe it came up but Mr. Koontz has made a significant contribution to training service dogs and the people who will be living with them. In particular he is responsible for a special housing facility for those who come to Malibu to receive and be trained with a service dog. I met a trainer of service dogs many years ago and was impressed by the time and effort that goes into making a gift of these dogs. As he told me, not all dogs who are trained will be capable of serving in this way but do find homes. It's a rigorous discipline provided by professionals.
Dean seems like such a nice and genuine guy. I've happily read quite a few of his books. Intensity is one of my favorite books of all time. One of the greatest depictions of good versus evil imo, and an important text for me personally because it's a reminder of the necessity of courage in the face of evil.
One of my favorite authors! In addition to the authors Mr. Koontz refers to as influencers, from many years ago he had also said he read Rex Stout another fine author. Thanks for this great interview. Tom Dameron
Thank you for this wonderful and fascinating interview! I know of Mr Joints but have not read any of his works. I will stop at the bookstore tomorrow and get one. I am actually looking forward to finding my first Joints novel! Thank you so much!
At a time when "educators" are accepting regional dialects and "black English" as OK for school work, how many future Arthur Dean Koontz's are denied the potential a rigorous true education could have given them?
The first novel I read which awakened me entirely, making me realize that this world is amazing and terrifying at the same time, is Intensity. I was 14 at that time. The first time I couldn’t let go of a book.
I never liked fiction and just thought Mr koontz was another Stephen King type writer. Boy was i wrong. His books have been fantastic. The husband is a favorite. One door away from heaven is really special

What a terribly disappointing interview of my very favorite author of all time. You didn't even talk about his penultimate Golden Retiever books, Watchers and Relentless. Dean is an absolute genius and you never even mentioned how his books are totally unputdownable. He deserved a much higher quality interview... Oh well.
I can't tell you how excited I am about this video. Dean Koontz is my favorite author!
Mine too! I'm reading The Forest of Lost Souls right now.

The Darkest Evening of the Year.
Thank you, Professor Arn. Thoroughly enjoyed this interview.
This was a delightful and inspiring and eye-opening interview to listen to. What a masterful craftsman. God bless 🙏
One of the most interesting interviews I’ve seen from Hillsdale. Thank you, Mr. Arn.
Thank you so much for this insightful interview off one of my favourite authors

Thanks for this interview! So glad to hear this inspiring biography!

I think Koontz' novels have gotten better and better: great plots, profound insights about reality, sparkling descriptions and dialogue, and funny.

Great interview Dr. Arnn. I am a new fan Mr. Koontz. God Bless.
As a former adjunct professor, I never gave a grade one to a student, they did always get what they eventually earned...
The Odd Thomas series brings back memories.

Beautiful will say, pops for many have hated HIM 1ST! Likewise many have FEAR HIM!
My shared "i" Am Hosts Meeks hearing when "i" grow "big"? Remember my little New minds ye all once in front!
I did place my dad in a good state. I just don't know why he manages The Bad Place as the carotid of his sinning.
Is like a little child born "i" came running unto HIM!

What’s with the rug?
It's a hair transplant, not a rug. He talks about it openly.

Nice wig /s
It is a hair transplant, he was tired of being bold:-)
Sad to see, looks like Koontz is suffering from Parkinson...
I noticed that, too. He’s had tremors in recent years.
No. It's the same throat issue as Bobby Kennedy Jr. has.
@@vicleaken interesting
I read his books until his writing got formulaic.
I'm going to tell my kids this was Justin Bieber
