The Kizu movies really showcases how twisted Araragi's savior complex is. So much so to the point that in his mind he hears Kiss-shot's, a legendary vampire, an immortal oddity's cries, as that of a child/baby and eventually reasons with himself that he does need to save her even if it meant death for him.
Btw the first scene in Bakemonogatari is actually the first scene of Kizu, though they obviously reanimated it here. In the novels Bake actually starts with Senjou falling. Seeing the discussion how Araragi says he becomes less human if he makes friends is actually kinda funny in hindsight of the movie considering he became a vampire the same day he became friends with Hanekawa. The architecture in this movie is also intentionally very off from how its usually depicted (though how its usually depicted is also off from how it is supposed to actually be, just Monogatari things). His house looks different, the cram school looks different, the train station isnt actually that big, etc.. The morse code says SOS btw. Kiss-shot Acerola Orion Heart-under-Blade. Do you remember in Bake how Oshino explained how he decided on the name for Shinobu? Shinobu is written as 忍 which is 心 (Heart) literally written under 刃 (Blade). Quite clever. Though remember that this isnt quite Shinobu yet. She got the name much later in May. Kiss-shot is definitely to weak here to manipulate him with the vampire charm ability. Kiss-shots full name has appeared before in Bake as one of the flash cards on screen. Noir just means Black, its for when the screen blacks out. Rouge is red for scenes with blood and a black screen, etc. The entire movie has a lot of the text intentionally swapped out for french text. Im guessing that is because the style of this movie trilogy was influenced by the style of some french movies. I wrote a bit much but great to see you enjoy the trilogy.
For some context: -The film trilogy was delayed in 2012 and ended up releasing throughout 2016-2017 -Kizumonogatari writes it's pause-frames in French, and even has some music in the language (though most music is from a genre called "Bossa Nova"). From what I know it's just a stylist choice though. -This movie's focused on style, fast pacing, and action rather than the dialogue heavy scenes the series is known for is likely because Araragi viewed his spring break as a very grand and daunting set of events that went by in the blink of an eye. Hence why the cram school is so much bigger in this movie. (and as usual, great reaction!)
From my understanding the charm didn’t work because she was too weak, but she did try to use it which is why he hesitated so much to run away The whole movie is inspired by french filmography, that’s why instead of black and red frames there’s noir and rouge frames
Kiss-shot / Shinobu no matter what form is Maaya Sakamoto, who also is Aerith from Final Fantasy 7 atop of many other big roles. The second and third film have ending songs with lyrics sung in them. With the 3rd film being one of my top ending songs of the entire series.
Pro Tip: Start watching the "Previews" with nisemonogatari at the latest. They aren't previews anymore, but funny wordplay, character development and some witty part of the story.
we are in 2007 era - alas everything in this show style-wise is 99% is a choice of the production staff. this town has no skyscrapers, nor such a big river, and aspecialy - no 10 stores deep subways. and as such - all the "signals" Hanekawa may give away towards Araragi is also purely a production decision, since the entire story is told from a 1st person perspective - non of it was noticed (or even sent in that regard). so in LN it's really hard to guess Hanekawa being into Araragi (or even being a little playful), she really like a different character in LN...but that's just a perspective thing. I may as well tell you about Senjou being a lot more "deadpan" when she is happy - but that would be too much of a paradigm shift for you :| P.S - yeah, listen to the music during credits, it's nice.
Araragi has the kanji for tree (gi or ki) in his name, so everytime it's shows a tree, it kind of symbolises araragi edit : I forgot Hanekawa literally gives the breakdown of his name in this one lmao also Shinobu, the name is literally written with a "heart under a blade"

Been patiently waiting for this one. I fking love these movies.
Omg, you actually made it.
What a chad.
Indeed, the entirety of Kizu doesn't include a single rotoscoped scene! (per the interviews)
Yes, she was trying to manipulate him, but since she had almost no blood she couldn't use her powers.
It is designed so that the lyrics are in French, even the soundtrack is French, at least the ones that have voices.
I havent seen this in years. I just notice that shinobu VA is maaya sakamoto. Also Aerith's VA.
I think in bakemonogatari it's mentioned that sucking blood for food and for making kins is completely different
Araragi has the kanji for tree (gi or ki) in his name, so everytime it's shows a tree, it kind of symbolises araragi

I know you like the Idol shows, so have you given Shine Post, SELECTION PROJECT, or AKB0048 a look? I think you might like all three of these.
I'll ask for recommendations when we get close to finishing Zombieland Saga, Selection Project will almost definitely be on the next poll!
