Ahh, the old pie i the bread roll trick. Never tried it myself but I used to work with a guy and his go to was to get a sausage roll, slam that in a hot dog roll, cover it in mushy peas, and then soak it all in curry sauce lol. Worked with him for two-odd years I can't remember him ever missing a day without that bizarre concoction :)
Oh, that's different and interesting. Yeah, we used to do the pie in a roll in winter as kids, and it was so good!! :)

"Mal's Pies" are AWESOME ! been buying from there for about 20 years! It was a big shame they had to close their second shop at Edison St, Wulguru. Mals Pies at Oonoonba, on the main drag, heading south of Townsville. Strongly RECOMMENDED!

Yeah, I've had pies from there before and have to say not bad, however th8s tome I went to the ones that gotvthe most votes on the poll I put up. Will check them out on the next one, thanks for your comment

Pies with pre-made pastry shells and vendor just fills them in and heats up against pies made from total scratch...how do you compare?
Yes, it's hard to know who does their own pastry!
Also, all of these shops should be proud. They all made top 5 pies in Townsville, regardless of which one I thought was better :)
Seriously mals is prob the best of those but none come close to whites corner store in North Ward, an Australian Pie winning hidden gem, that stands above the rest.
