- Weekend lunch for a Japanese mother and daughter duo. How to Survive Japan's Hot Summer. Why don't you have lunch with Moe and Sutan? The temperature at noon today was 100°F (38°C) in Tokyo, Japan. Even though it's super hot, Sutan really wants to have lunch outside. We make yakisoba noodles, sandwich them in bread, and relax and talk while eating chilled watermelon and corn.

Hello, i was wondering if you have ever tried Okinawa's famous cream soup? it is VERY popular there and served at nearly every popular restaurant and diner. I can not find any recipes for it on the internet (in english anyway). i found one recipe in english but it didnt seem to be correct. i was wondering if you could help, or maybe even make a video of it.
On the channel TABIEATS, they are currently in Okinawa. and on one of the videos they went to three restaurants and all three had that cream soup. it must be very popular. i didnt think it would be so difficult to find a recipe of something so common. any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Sutan is so articulate for her age - it’s like listening to a tiny lady. The way Mor talks to Sutan like she’s an adult and not using baby talk really helped Sutan develop her vocabulary. So adorbs.
It’s insane how articulate Japanese children are. I was exploring Tokyo and found myself wander into a random neighborhood and school kids with the yellow hats were being let out and walking home. It blew my mind how they sounded like miniature adults talking to each other. lol

A few weeks ago a family friend’s daughter asked my wife and I about learning Japanese to travel to Japan. My wife is a native Japanese speaker and I learned it by moving there to work in my 20s. We recommend formal classes of course but also I recommended Kimono Mom. Not only does it include curated translations (not auto-translation, at least for English) but you’re seeing real Japanese being taught at the same level a beginning Japanese learner is learning, that of a child. This very video features a great example. When learning Japanese as an adult we always learn 済みません (sumimasen) as the generic “excuse me” for all situations. You usually don’t learn that there is another term until you are immersed, where you learn 失礼します (shitsureishimas) or Sutan’s very polite 失礼御座います (shitsurei gozaimasu). The distinction is sumimasen is more for excusing yourself when passing by a person or leaving a room, where shitsureishimas is for asking to be excused for a “social faux pas” like burping (or interrupting a conversation)…lol. If you can, as a Japanese learner, speak with and understand Sutan, you’re doing well!

There’s nothing quite as special as the unique and unbreakable relationship between a mother and her daughter. Mothers want what’s best for their children and daughters look up to their mothers for inspiration and advice. The relationship may shift and change as time goes on but one thing always remains the same: the unconditional love that they have for each other.
Sutan has such advanced and complex conversations for such a little girl. Love her! 💕 And her watermelon BUUURP at the end 😂🤣.
Moe, by the sounds of things, you'll be getting some more free time soon! Clearly Sutans little school friends are getting less dependent on their mumma's and she's copying! You should try making watermelon sorbet! You freeze the chunks of watermelon and blend it, maybe add a bit of sugar. Good for the summer days!
