I sympathize with you on the back troubles, having suffered with intermittent back problems for 40 years. No hate here for Bear Grills. Compared to some of the so-called "influencers" on social media these days, he seems pretty mainstream. Gerber makes solid knives, in general, so two thumbs up from here.

I love Bear Grylls tv shows and products.....I own several 🔪. Wish Gerber would bring them back into production.

I have the Grylls Ultimate Fixed Blade semi serrated and actually like it! Used it a good few times hiking and camping. I’m not a brand fanboy, never will be. I just purchase a knife that seems to fit my needs and use it. There are times I’ve been out hiking and didn’t have any knife on me. When you find yourself in that situation, you soon learn any knife is better than no knife. I’m a 20yr Army Veteran myself. Thank You for your service!

I’m all about inexpensive, decent knives! When I’m hiking & camping, I carry a Mora Kansbol or an orange Mora Eldris.

I was a fan of the show but in the back of my mind I knew it was BS for entertainment just like all reality TV shows . The tools were better when Gerber made them but they were mediocre in quality . The best and most practical tool of the BG line was the Ferro Rod fire starting tool . I still have mine over a decade later .

I found one 2 days ago or so, bought it for $80. It's that one but without the serrations and I carry it alot and I'm not planning on changing it for awhile honestly.

I honestly have always loved my Gerber products, that said, the multi tool that I just bought doesn't seem as well made as one that I have made back in the early 90's. Ole Bear might have been a badass back in his military days, but he is pretty much a clown now. Nobody with any brains runs around like an idiot during a survival situation jumping around like he does. It not only burns too many calories, but the risk of a mechanical injury increases exponentially as does the likelihood of death. I think you are spot on about it being a cash grab based on his popularity. You do get what you pay for with survival gear, there is plenty of garbage on the market.

Certainly not the poster child for sanctioned survival training but he used his abilities for entertainment. I certainly wouldn't drink me pee. Seems like a good guy though.

Hello, nice video. I'm thinking about getting my hands on one of these actually, so your video helped me alot. I like the design of the blade (and sheath), even if the 7Cr17mov isn't the best steel on the market. But as you said, if you sharpen it once in a while...

Thanks Andy. Steel heat treat and grind/edge geometry is much more important than steel type. It's a great knife.

I don't have anything against Bear Grylls. Never actually saw his show. I'm not thrilled with the silly paint job, and I have NEVER liked the idea of branding some silly celebrities name on a product. The FEW BG knives I have are perfectly useful TOOLS. As much as any of my OTHER Walmart knives.

It was a cash grab for Gerber, who used to be a very good knife company. I'm not against the Bear Grylls stuff, but it could have been made so much better. Plus, I bet the Mister Grylls, never used a single item for survival that Gerber put his name on. I don't hate them, but I'd never use em. I've seen how easy some of the Bear Grylls blades break so easy. But that's jut my two cents worth. P.S. Purists would not call it full tang, because they cant see the edge of the tang, because how the handle is over molded around the tang. Glad your not one of those.

I did wish they would have used better materials to improve the product also. I would usually not call this knife "full tang" but it's small enough and it does protrude through the pommel so I went wild with my description lol. Thanks for the great comment brother!

@@CommonCentsOutdoorsman Yes, but you would be surprised, or maybe not. And how many people will not call it a full tang, because they cant see it. I consider all my Buck 100 Series sheath knives, and I have a few, to be full over molded tangs. Plus I've watched some video's of how buck makes like the 119, which is my favorite knife. Any ways, take care and feel better. And stay Sharp, its a strange world these days.
